The speech was at a Catholic university. I’m Catholic and I’ve heard similar during homilies at mass and back in Catholic school from nuns. The message has always been consistent.
Not at my Catholic schools I went to. This was so much more divisive and full of rhetoric. Even the pope doesn't talk this way. Feel the difference with the Nora O'Donnell interview. No comparison in the tone. Love the Pope; Harrison from the Manosphere-- not so much.

And THAT is why it is controversial. His views are seen as dated today and praises one type of person/living which was propagated in the 1950’s as the way everyone should be but in truth that is only one of many paths.

I'm not religious, I'm not straight, I'm not even a football fan.
I support what this man said and more importantly his right to say it. He's right about the path we're headed down.
As a working women I see nothing wrong with what he said. I would have done anything to be with my children as much as possible. But life circumstances didn't allow it. But you have to watch the whole speech to appreciate what he said.
If your life didn't start at different points and become new then you were not really in touch. You start out as a child, then a student, then a producer at a job. All different times when your life starts . As a parent I became a whole new person. I didn't just think of myself. If these women want to have a job and not children that is there choice. I am grateful for the time I had to stay home and raise my children.
