The very idea of going to college for most people is to try to find a future career. He's basically telling the women who are graduating at that ceremony that college wasn't the right choice for them. You don't have to go to college to find a husband and be a homemaker. Most American women balance career and family. He wanted to reassure women that martial happiness exist in a world where it seems all men just want to sleep with you and never marry.
Respect to Whoopi for making it clear and leading the way that a Catholic talking to Catholics at a Catholic school is entitled to his beliefs within that context. Also, there are many Catholics who are quite conservative who don't practice Latin Mass. He definitely echoed many voices that are in the Catholic church about the President. Sadly some people can’t see your point of view until it touches their lives directly. That’s where this Buffon is coming from, he’s coming from a place of entitlement because he’s never had to love a person who perhaps is lgbtq and apparently he can only love women who are homemaker and not career ladies.

Interesting insight ion the kicker's mom being a working professional, while he lectures college graduates to be stay at home moms. Joy should send him an invoice for the shrink session.😂
There is something to be said for the fact that all of the girls now are being told you shouldn’t want to have kids. You should worry about a career. there is nothing more in this world than being a parent and a good parent to create new productive members of society. There is also nothing wrong with hard work that doesn’t require a college degree. There is nothing wrong with working with your hands. And the fact that he realizes how important obviously his mother wasn’t his life to him and saying that there is no other important job kind of how he feels about his mother and his wife.
There isn't one child today that wishes there mother was working being a girl boss rather than staying at home with them FULL TIME... It's the ultimate in safety for many children as I remember my mother not being home a lot and fully resenting it and not feeling safe.....
I feel bad for the young people that had to listen to this bigotry on one of the most important days of their lives. The hardworking students deserved better than this.
So what about the women who do marry, but find out they can't have children; which is very common. According to him IVF, surrogacy, and work are out. What does she do with her life now?
I know of Catholic couples who adopt even after having biological children. So adoption is heavily promoted as beautiful and sacred. (I'm Catholic and don't believe all women are called to be full time homemakers by the way.)

It’s not more honourable than being educated working. You’re not more honourable because you open your legs, overpopulate and breed/birth kids that didn’t ask to be born for your selfish desires. Y’all like to pretend that’s contributing only but many breed/birth kids for very selfish reasons and them and their kids don’t contribute but become a burden and a problem for others. They demand a village and others to take care of the non mandatory choice they’ve decided to take multiple times. They want others to treat them as superior for being pregnant and then others to deal with the dirty work of birthing them and then others have to pay for them and then others have to be their village and take care of the kids they chose to breed/birth in horrible conditions for their own selfishness. It’s an extra curricular activity and not an obligation nor mandatory. Stop being entitled and stop thinking you’re superior. Nobody has to take care of your problem. Most parents have nothing related to being honourable. Cleaning after yourself and Feeding the kids you chose to breed/birth doesn’t make you special. Most educated women and working women are educated and clean after themselves and cook for themselves. Millions of women ain’t mothers. Studies show half women will be single and child free soon. Have you see. The numbers ? More women are choosing to be children than men. Imagine saying being with a man and breeding/birthing kids for the parents selfish desires is the most important when it’s not. He’s speaking his opinion as if it’s a fact. Who is he a man to tell women what’s supposed to be important to the zBreeding/birthing kids they didn’t ask yo be born ain’t superior. He was also addressing university hand meters graduates that were single and child free and he told them there life hasn’t started until they breed/birth and marry. Which is false. He said what they should be looking forward for ain’t opportunities their education will give them but their future non existent marriage and kids that don’t exist. If he was dressing a room of work that chose to have many kids-that would be different but it was a an event related to academic achievements. Imagine going to an event of women that chose to birth a bunch of kids and telling them what should be important to them. Some of y’all just want someone to tell y’all that you’re superior to other women because you chose to breed/birth a bunch of kids that didn’t ask to be born for your selfishness and yes many kids grow up in poverty, trauna and deal with mental health and are forced to tolerate their breeders/birthers/parents. Being a parent doesn’t make you superior nor a good person. Many kids blame their parents for trauma and mental health and most mental health issues are linked to childhood trauma. Being a breeding/birthing machine ain’t 1% more superior than educated or working women. Your life doesn’t start when you birth a kid that didn’t ask to be born nor when you marry. Being a home maker isn’t the best job nor a superior job nor what defines the value of a woman. Imagine telling a woman her life is only important or successful and has only begun if she chooses to overpopulate the world and rip her body and risk losing her dignity, bodily autonomy and physical privacy when she doesn’t want to.

One Swift fan account joked about petitioning for the pop star to replace Butker as the Chiefs' kicker. A real online petition, calling for the Chiefs to dismiss Butker for his "sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion and racist remarks," has gained 95,000 signatures and counting since Monday. Butker and the team have not commented publicly on his speech and the backlash to it, though late Wednesday the NFL issued a statement distancing itself from it. Butker has been vocal about his faith, telling the Eternal Word Television Network in 2019 that he grew up Catholic but practiced less in high school and college before rediscovering his belief later in life. Last year, Butker appeared in an ad for the nonprofit Catholic Vote urging Kansans to support a referendum that would limit abortion rights in the state (it was ultimately unsuccessful). He's also one of several athletes who has partnered with a Catholic prayer app. And days after the Chiefs won this year's Super Bowl, Butker spent a week "in reflection" at a monastery in California. He was persuaded, he said, in part by leadership's argument about how many milestones graduating seniors had missed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. At one point, he referenced an Associated Press article from earlier this month about the revival of conservative Catholicism that prominently featured Benedictine College as an example. The official CZcams video of Butker's speech shows the crowd standing and applauding at the end, though the AP reports that reactions among graduates were mixed. Several told the outlet they were surprised by his comments about women, priests and LGTBQ people. Kassidy Neuner told the AP that the speech felt "degrading," suggesting that only women can be homemakers. Even the official Kansas City account weighed in, tweeting on Wednesday that Butker resides not there but in a neighboring suburb, Lee's Summit. The tweet has since been deleted and the account apologized for the tweet. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas tweeted that he believed Butker holds a "minority viewpoint" in the state but defended his right to express it. The Los Angeles Chargers also trolled Butker in its Sims-style schedule release video on Wednesday, which ends with a shot of his animated, number 7 jersey-wearing character cooking and arranging flowers in a kitchen.

Homemaking is honourable but either parent can do it. We need to respect it whomever does it.
If one parent earns more than enough, then the other parent can stay as homemaker.

Whoopi and Sunny up there defending him on what he says about women's roles, while they get to discuss this , voices their opinions and ignoring that this man would rather women be baby machines and home makers.

Brilliant
The Chiefs need to free him to become a full-time homemaker.
You can't even tell me what a woman is
Socialists/communists sure hate free speech.
I totally agree with this man. That's why this country is in the mess it is in. I wanted to stay home with my kids.
Why didn't you?
I bet your kids are glad you didn't
Take away whether or not you agree or disagree with what he said. His ‘commencement’ speech was about him being catholic. 😂😂 That’s not a commencement speech lol.
Why does Whoopi have to repeat the same thing 3 times?
Because everyone at the table is always talking over her as she tries to get her point of view across.
@@cldunkin8145 Whoopi does exactly the same thing to everyone else. The reason why Whoopi repeats herself is because she's buying time to think about what she's going to say next. She tries to sound profound but ends up stating nothing worth remembering
@@paulmarden3301especially her voting message 😂
@@cldunkin8145 agreed. They do that way too much.
@@paulmarden3301you nailed it
His message is one from many decades ago. It’s deplorable to hear in 2024. Sara tried to clear this up.
Actually I graduated college in 1968. I can promise you, we would have walked out on his speech!!
@@judykinsman3258perhaps I should said a century ago. I graduated in 1980 from Brooklyn college and he would have been booed. Thanx for your imput
@@batgurrl deplorable to tell women that having women is more meaningful than a useless sociology degree? Sounds like this is a message that the world NEEDS.
I'm glad Sara mentioned how he must be from an extremist sect of the religion.
I'm Catholic and have mostly Catholic friends. We do not believe in anything this guy is talking about.
The foundation of Catholicism is about love for everyone and respecting each person's individual paths. The politics and patriarchical ideologies have been added in over centuries by men seeking power. Jesus would not agree with how his teachings have been misinterpreted.
@@coolbreeze5683 Sorry to inform you, but you do not hold basic Christian beliefs if you are in agreement with Sara.
Remember this - great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people. I feel sad for his young daughter and wife.
I disagree with him. Having kids does not help with student loans, quite the opposite. But free speech is more important than getting upset.
This has Project 2025 /Handmaids Tale written all over it 😮😮
So does the current GOP/MAGAt.
THIS 💯 thank you.
Coming from people who gave a man woman of the year. Sit down and shut up
@@JAy-ct2bu Look up the Strong man conference 2024 your boy Butker attended. A man with a red light beaming down on him coming down a pole and ripping his shirt off. A real manly man.
🤣
Harrison's mommy has her Masters degree. Did she go into full homemaker mode immediately after graduating? Yikes.
I wonder what she thinks of her son.
Doubt it ♥️
You can't even tell me what a woman is and you're making comments
Lmfao 🤣!! Even with modern technology we still digress back to the 1940's
The college student against genocide also have the rights to say what they say
U like to let them say kill jews huh because they are brsinwash into believe crap
Like the "queers for Palestine"? How long do you think theyd last in Palestine before a mob threw them from a rooftop?
This wasn't the place for him to go down the political and moral road that he did. The ceremony is supposed to be about the graduates.
Those who are defending him would be up in arms if a liberal got up there and started talking about abortion rights or bashing Trump, so be consistent.
it was the place, why? because its a catholic institution that invited or hires a catholic man to give a speech in a university that values and encourages catholic values, what else did people expected him to say? to support hamas or saying idiotic BS like socialism is the best for the US?
you fool !! the ceremony was about graduates......how to be good people in the future....career is last on the list. FAITH FAMILY FRIENDS FUN FATHERLAND......
His view is quite similar to what was portrayed by a character like in the movie 'Mona Lisa smile'.
That was't his view, it is straight out of the Bible. Your anger is directed towards God
No anger; it was something I remembered from that movie.
He thinks women shouldn't think, and just be a baby machine
He never said this and it's a Catholic college, this is the message in that religion.
@@kicknowledgesmith8608 Yes, he did. His sister and mother are accomplished. He's crude, and a misogynistic

@@kicknowledgesmith8608 I gather, you believe in the same dominionism
He never said that
That was more lika a graduation speech from 1954, not 2024.
Totally 👍👏👏
Coming from someone who can't define what a woman is
@@JAy-ct2bu
And who thinks the world started in the 1950s.
These don’t realize the idea of the university being for career training is recent
Then 1954 were based . And in 1954 nobody would have said "fire burns" , people knew this things already there wasn't a need to talk about them
That man has a right to his views and the graduates have a choice to accept or to reject his beliefs.
It's 2024, not 1950!!!
1850
Sadly…..we were SOOOO much better off in 1950!!! Society today is out of control and upside down! Let’s get back to basics and get that family unit back together and solve some of these issues we have going on today!
exactly....we have moved away from toxic feminism.......Thank God and thanks for his mum n dad for rearing a real MAN
"Do the therapy, do the therapy".....ima be saying that test of the week 😂😂
Well, that's good. You can do it at your therapy when you talk about your daddy issues
@@JAy-ct2bu dad is that you?
that guy need to come out
Yep total closet case, and already people who he went to college with saying he was hooking up with guys while there.
Or we could just acknowledge that most homophobes in the world are just really angry straight men and not closeted gay men…own your sh*t straight men
Your dad needs to come out. Just because you are infected with a fungus doesn't mean every other man is too....
What does "that guy need to come out" mean?
Just cause he’s a homophobe doesn’t mean he’s a closet case. Most homophobic people in the world are just angry straight men.
