You twisted his words Rich. You’re better than that!
He's clearly not.
Listen to the full speech. He says women have bee told "diabolical lies" about having careers. He says a woman's life doesn't begin till she has kids and becomes a homemaker. He also raged against gay people, birth control, abortion rights. It was a full alt-right speech, which is why so many of the female students who were there have taken to social media over the last few days and condemned him.
@@RYCBARM123 just so you know, those are not alt right positions. Those are middle right positions.
How do you “twist” someone’s words by repeating them verbatim? 🤨
@@GizmoBeach He didn’t though, he implied that Harrison didn’t want women to have careers, and that he said that women should only be in the home. That’s not what he said. What he actually said is that he guessed that most of the conservative Catholic women in the audience valued their family more than their careers.
So Butker was invited to say Catholic things at a Catholic University? 😱
It's an outrage! 😃 😊 😀 😄
For the hundredth time, that's not the point.
The point is that he's not there to spout his own beliefs on politics and women. He's there to offer guidance and genuine good advice to people who just accomplished something major. It's a graduation ceremony, not a Joe Rogan podcast.
If you didn't come away with at least thinking he's a bit of a jackass for making it about how he views a woman's role in society and not the graduates, I can't help you.

This statement you made turned every lie into truth. I usually leave something very provocative, but what you wrote was my undoing. Very well done! I mean that, real nice!
Now that is outrageous 😳
“According to a 2019 Pew Research Center study, the United States has the highest rate of children living in single-parent households in the world, with 23% of children under 18 living with one parent and no other adults.” In the African American community 7 out of 10 families are single-parent. As an African American this topic is relevant for me and should be for every American. This discussion needs to start in high school and be further discussed in college. American families are in a crisis and don’t let the deceptive media fool you.

So is she more proud of her family and kids, or her career Rich?
Oh, you nailed it 100%. He wouldn’t dare ask that question on the air, would he?
Why does it have to be either/or? Would you ask Butker's mother the same thing?
She can be proud of both...why choose just 1?
That's the premise of what Butker said that everyone is mad about. "Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you (the catholics he was speaking to) are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."
Why is it hard to pick what you would be MOST proud of? Not the only thing you are proud of. Also why wouldn't it be family over a job?
I like how they openly admitted they just pay someone else to raise their kids but somehow they are the moral authority.

Let's be fair, he has his opinion and the right to it. But those women didnt work as hard on those degrees JUST TO NOT USE THEM. Notice he only addressed the women as if there wont be men in that ceremony who will be homemakers. He didnt think that all the way through and thats his problem

@@singingchef23 Bingo. He basically implied that for all their hard work, it won't ever be as good as being a wife and mother. He is dog whistling towards the classic, pigheaded trope that women are better off at home and men go out.
Rich and Suzy understand what the idea of true 'choice' is. Motherhood should be celebrated and so should women who choose a career driven path. One isn't above the other. And just because they have someone help them around the home does not make them neglectful or people who don't value family.
@@rocknrollstar2798you are aware that many women feel like they’ve been lied to right? Ask clinicians, psychologists and therapists, tons of women in their 30s are regretting prioritizing career over children, because they are having difficulty either finding a mate or conceiving at their age. They can’t go back and choose differently, but if they could they would. They wish someone would have told them career wasn’t everything in life. They thought they were just doing the right thing, but are realizing too late that the narrative is deeply flawed. I think to maintain the current narrative and suggest that anyone, man or woman, should prioritize career over family is incredibly foolish and blind. If that speech is outrageous, how weak has our society become
"Outrageous" and "weak" aren't the appropriate words. "Laughable" and "times have changed" perhaps are.
I say laughable because almost anyone, male or female, would have a strong inclination to be a stay at home parent when their spouse brings home $3.5 million a year to kick a football, and very well may have another 5-10 years of football life in him.
Traditional family arrangements work very well when the breadwinner brings home more in one year than most Americans, who do work far more essential to society than any athlete ever does, will earn in their lifetime.
It's not the patriarchal tone of Butker's speech that is causing friction so much as it is yet another example of someone with privilege being disconnected from people who don't have such luxury.

You didn’t listen to the speech! That’s not what he said! A vocation is a calling.. as a mother , that calling is more fulfilling than any professional accomplishments I have ever made in my life. He wasn’t telling women they didn’t have a place in the workforce or that they shouldn’t have a career. A man’s vocation to be a father should mean that to him nothing is more rewarding or fulfilling than his role as a father and husband. Not even his professional career accomplishments.
I haven’t even listened to the whole speech but even just listening to the clip that is circulating I can confidently say that people are deliberately trying to manipulate what he actually said. They are literally trying to find a reason to be offended.
And yet...he has that career, which allows his wife to be a homemaker and them not struggle to make ends meet. Most men don't spend nearly as much time in the raising of children as the mother and yet, a man is never chided for it. For that matter, I think he includes men in that too, from the way he spoke so lovingly and emotionally about his wife and children. He never said don’t pursue other things in life. He simply was advocating for family, which to be honest, has been torn apart for years now because it’s been so wildly neglected and taken for granted. I see no reason why he should be attacked for promoting family values, and I find it very surprising that you or anyone with a healthy loving family could possibly fail to recognize it as the greatest source of joy and meaning in your life.
Lost my respect for you Rich with no judgment at all with your co-host. Glad she's able to have a successful career and a successful mother. But if you have a problem with what Harrison Butker said in his speech in what was the Bible belt of America in Kansas City at a Catholic college with a Catholic faith, then I feel sorry for you. The reality of our culture today and the kind of kids we are bringing up as a country reflects the demise of our society and the lost conservative values of children brought up in a Christian home. Harrison Butker embodies that belief which is what has been lost in America ...shame on you!
AMEN 🙏🙏🙏✝️
The angrier the girlbosses get about Butker's powerful speech, the more it proves him right. Being a wife, mother, homemaker and solid foundation for your family is INFINITELY MORE IMPORTANT than your meaningless office job where you produce spreadsheets.
Being an active father and loving husband is INFINITELY MORE IMPORTANT than "making a name in the world". Can you do both? Yes. But this woman wants to act like she just does it all so easily. The truth is, she has a nanny that takes care of her children while she girlbosses her way through a sports career. SO EMPOWERING TO PAY SOMEONE TO DO WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING while you talk about a children's game that grown men play.
A lot of working women use daycare and nannies. A lot of women have to because they don't have a Harrison Butker on speed-dial. Most men in their 20s are not ready to raise a family, let alone be its sole breadwinner. It's not 1950 anymore. Wages have trailed production since the mid-70s. He meant that if Catholics publicly defend the teachings of Jesus revealed through the Catholic Church, which is the Church He founded on Peter in Matthew 16, they will be persecuted and victimized by the proponents of DEI. I have two questions: first, is this true? And second, should Catholics be included in the inclusivity espoused by the proponents of DEI?
@@brotherdamien1804 the Pope is pro LGBT so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make
Rich this irresponsible spin against what he actually said is incredibly disappointing. You have a reputation as one of the best in the business, and today you let your audience down.
Marriage is one of the four Catholic “vocations”(call from God). So he’s talking to an audience of Catholic men and women, whom many believe that their highest calling in life is to get married and have children. He’s pointing out no matter how successful they become in their careers, that marriage and children will still be their highest calling and most important achievement in their lives. How is this controversial? I mean the whole speech was about being better Catholics. I guess that’s the outrageous part…Traditional Catholics?
The whole implication that career seeking women have been told "the most diabolical lies" steering them away from motherhood, becoming a wife and attaining true happiness. Like, yeah he didn't say women shouldn't work or have jobs, or to stay barefoot and pregnant, but he also didn't just like, innocently say that being a homemaker is okay or an honorable thing.
The same advice wasn't given to the men. He did say men should be more involved at home, but didn't say they're likely more excited about fatherhood than career. He also said men have to set the culture, which is low key patriarchal.
He also went on the anti-LGBTQ, anti-progressive, cultural degeneracy path, too. On top of kinda gatekeeping what it means to be a true Catholic.
His speech was a shotgun blast.
I believe it possibly goes further than that. Family units are the cornerstone of stable societies. Everything from traditions to family recipes bind our social structure and gives us support throughout our lives. When we get old it's family that keeps us interested in the world and a sense of belonging. Without that people become reclusive and have nobody but their pets to keep them company. A lonely existence. You break up the family unit and you destabilize your society. The donor class divides us by destabilizing us. Family makes us strong. Belief in God (whichever one you believe in) gives us a moral guide. That binds us and makes us stronger. My personal belief is there was a reason why we were unable to go to church during pandemic lockdowns yet you could go to strip clubs. You couldn't have family over for holidays etc but you could burn buildings, tear down statues and riot. They could release people in jail because it was dangerous to keep them in closed quarters but if you could not pay your bills or feed your family so you kept your business open to survive you would go to jail. Money has a role and for some people money and power is all that matters. Those that have the love of God and the love of family have so much more and give so much more. Don't listen to the corporate shills. They preach to divide us.
And yet the Nuns who founded the college disagree with his speech, and have even made a public statement that his speech does not align with their beliefs.

@@atticusrex2691 - THIS! And you are right! It wasn't just a side mention that if those women did go on to choose the role of homemaker, that too was an honorable choice. I mean there are SO MANY other ways that could have been couched.
I can't even with his antil-LGBTQ diatribe. That was so far from necessary or even relevant to the topic of commencement. It was a disgusting display of chest-thumping misogyny, in my humble opinion.
Guy who’s wife didn’t take his name has opinion on man speaking about traditional catholic values, let’s all listen in
This is a "bandwagon" commentary to keep your cred in the celebrity world. You are better than this, Rich.
Rich and his wife obviously did NOT watch Butker's video. Trending news....Harrison Butker's NFL jersey is the most popular seller. Go figure.
You know what? I’d bet they “did”watch Butker’s video and it makes it all the more ridiculous that Eisen said that it was outrageous. Is Eisen an idiot? No, not at all. A virtue signaling panderer that is terrified of being canceled and wants to sound hip and sensitive? Absolutely! Such a fake and has been for years.
The MAGA crowd making it known who their next savior is. A silver spoon fed kicker.
@@JackTre1 that’s right! Trump ‘24!
If MAGA wants LeBron to shut up and dribble, Butker should just shut up and kick.
@@mbarn6633 Not a fair comparison. Butker actually went to college and got a degree.
You're a part time mother, don't fool yourself. You do this because you choose your ambition over your children. You have enough money to spend the time with your kids but you choose not to.
Being a dedicated mother is a Full time job. Susan admitting they have a nanny to their children allows her to have a career. She unknowingly validated Harrison’s argument.
Exactly 😂
Dedicated mother: full time job. Dedicated father: meh... evening and weekends required only.
How backwards do you have to be to believe that sh*t 🤦♂️...
Butker's own mother has been a medical physist since 1988.
@@PhillAndersonGuitarist most likely his mother worked because she wanted to do so…it shouldn’t be a requirement tho. Kinda the entire point.
Great speech. I bought his jersey. My wife and daughters loved the speech.
If all the main street media says it's bad it must make sense.
It's "mainstream", smart one.
NFL+ ... canceled.
I honestly believe if not for gambling and fantasy football. The NFL would not be as big as it is
Butker said nothing wrong. Rich Eisennis a clown for this.
he said nothing wrong nor was it sexist. This country is the current state that's in because people grow up in broken homes, no guidance or traditional values. Men are men and women are women, both have their place. Women can be whatever they want but if a woman wants to be a home maker, that job is just as important as her being a doctor.
In other news Terrell Suggs has been arrested for threatening someone with a weapon. But keep talking about the Catholic who gave a speech to other Catholics. You're proving his point
stop with outdated beliefs
All these secular people missing the point. He is a catholic at a catholic college giving a speech and reminding Catholics on how they are to operate from a religious perspective. Religion has become so watered down that people are running around being cafeteria Christians, who are offended when they hear how they are actually supposed to operate.
No wonder church attendance is at an all time low and falling off a cliff each coming year. Good for them, turning their backs on outdated thinking! 😋
Exactly. If you aren’t Catholic his speech was not directed towards you
@@thebourg I doubt many modern Catholic women are hearing a man tell them they are best suited to stay home and be mothers and thinking ... Damn, Skippy! I'll drop out of my PhD physics program, get married, have a baby, and stay out of my husband's way. Oy vey. 🙄 That message was meant for outdated and out moded men. And still church attendance is falling off a cliff.
Have you been to a catholic church? Do you know how many women attending have JOBS? Does that shock and dismay you? LOL. Not all women can afford to not work, but since you seem to have this nailed down, why not offer to donate to the average american family so women can afford to stay home instead? Thanks!
@@boogerlui my wife stays at home and we have four kids. Maybe you should strive to be better.
Suzy has proven you can be a wife, mother, and a successful professional. Isn't that basically what Harrison Butker was saying? The possibility of being a wife, a mother, and congratulations on this degree. What if Harrison Butker would have said to the men "You may be excited about the potential of being a husband and a father."?
Rich did you even listen to the whole speech? Or are you JACS. (Just Another Corporate Schill). You are the one being outrageous.
It’s ironic. He has a teammate that has several felonies pending on him. Could easily have killed several people. But no outrage over that from Eisen or his wife. He didn’t say women should not work. Simply saying the family structure seems to work best for most families that choose that way of living. He didn’t say that all women should stay home if they are talented and highly educated, statistically women are 60% of college graduates. That’s a great accomplishment and they should go out in the world and get paid what they are worth . Just his opinion.
I see you wanted to heard what you wanted to hear.
@@320Bandit did you even watch the whole speech, or was that too hard?
@@karlpage9028 someone can listen to his whole speech and still disagree. Was I supposed to change my mind after I listened to it?
@@320BanditSimps are dangerous
They are silent as fish about the Title IX reversal. What’s more of a danger to women? A LAW that puts men in women’s locker rooms and restricts their opportunities or an opinion?
So he was wrong? A kid isnt more fullfillment then a career?? Alright go tell your kids that. Go tell them they arent as rewarding as their jobs....
Rich still chasing that Emmy award.
I would love to see Rich have Harrison on here so they can discuss the speech which Rich did not watch
I thought you had more class than that Rich. I don’t recall you commenting about Colin Kaepernick.
Rich has a Kaepernick jersey, He would have got corn rows if he had the hair for it. But Rich is true his beliefs. He was woke before the NFL became so.
Didn't your wife quit to have kids and be a homemaker? Hypocrite or you don't respect your wife.
The only time people from the “Tribe” didn’t hate Catholic courage was during WWII
maybe you should try to listen to what he said exactly and stop interrupting his words differently because he hurt your feelings
Being blown way out of proportion…
Because every liberal thinker is a future Democrat voter....you know how it goes. The left news is all in it for 1 agenda. Democrats own the media and hollyweird
I absolutely have no respect for him anymore and he obviously did not watch one second of that speech
Would Eisen be this upset if a Jewish athlete gave a commencement address at a predominantly Jewish college, where the athlete extolled the virtues of Jewish religious family values?
I cannot believe that someone as seemingly intelligent as Mr. Eisen missed the point Mr. Butker was making. He wasn’t opining that women/mothers that have professional lives shouldn’t feel a great sense of value in those lives and/or professions but that they simply don’t compare to the value of being a mother. Rich’s response was weak, at best, and also an even weaker attempt at virtue signaling which he does very well on a weekly basis.
Dude, that's completely insulting by itself! What about the women who don't want to have kids at all, or can't? At best it's insensitive, at worst it's misogynistic as hell. And was this really the time or place for that regardless? This was a giant FU to women, full stop.
He’s a hypocrite. He says nothing about the Title IX reversal and that’s a LAW. If these 2 cared about their girls they’d be up in arms about that versus a speech.
Eisen is a media puppet. he has to follow suite of they'll fire him. liberals run television
Yeah, its hard for you to say "they simply don't compare." Doesn't look like you're a woman and you surely are not every woman. Every situation is different. Also, Butker's point was that there is at least equal value in being a homemaker. His anecdote about is wife, was just that...an anecdote. Not a prescription. Does he actually believe its better? Probably.
@@bluzfiddler1 no, I’m not a woman but I’m a parent/father and I don’t need to be a woman to know, for an absolute fact, that there’s more value in being a mother than there is in any profession, vocation, etc. There is nothing on this planet more valuable than being a mother. There are men that, unfortunately, can’t be fathers. There are women that, unfortunately, can’t be mothers. There are many who choose not to be. That’s just the way it is. If anything, many people are seemingly downplaying the value in being a mother. More specifically a “stay at home mom”. I’m not looking for an argument and sincerely respect the opinions of others, but there is no argument that anyone can make that being a mother isn’t the most important job, gift, blessing, etc. on the planet. Sorry dads!
Record demand for Butker's jersey
I know, gross and embarrassing
No wonder they cancelled NFL Total Access
If you noticed in the title, she shouldn't use his last name. That tells you everything about there marriage.
What a POS. Piling in with the mob. Done w this guy.
“The idea that he could be saying this to someone like yourself or your daughter”… In this case we must assume that Suzy is the mother of a Catholic graduate? I’ll leave it to you to clarify how accurate that assumption is (otherwise you’re taking things unbelievably out of context).
Overall, just not at all what he was saying. “Inflammatory” is only applicable to your response. He was giving unadmonished praise for women in that role & acknowledging that the happiness motherhood & a family gives is greater than anything a career can give. Hard to imagine, based on your nameplate, that you don’t also think this sentiment rings true for any parent. Faithful NFL fan, faithful Catholic, faithful listener… until now.
Did none of his critics watch his full speech? He uses the term vocation as a descriptor that goes beyond one's mere career, which is why he, at an earlier point in the speech, refers to his own vocation as being a husband and father.
Most of NFL players wife are homemakers.
No coincidence that the two biggest Ls I’ve ever seen Rich take are ones he had to because of Suzy. There is not one thing wrong with what Butker said, A, and B, sideline reporters are totally unimportant and only there to look pretty.
Also any "bare foot and pregnant" talk is pure embellishment.
Butker spoke truth. Most of us with careers, even high-paying ones, enjoy being parents far more. Jobs are replaceable- kids are not. Butker didn’t say they can’t work or shouldn’t- he said they are probably looking forward to being moms. That’s not outrageous. I’m a man, but even as a child I knew I wanted kids someday. What’s the problem?
Truth.
