  • The National Ignition Facility has now been in operation for 10 years, and if you're interested in how NIF went from just a scientific dream to the reality of being the most energetic laser in the world, check out our other video here: • Ten Years of the Natio...
But there's something else that's very special about NIF, and that's the people who run it. Take a peek into the lives of those who work in the National Ignition Facility.

115: Using a microwave refrigerator, freeze a portion of the target from americium-243 and then bombard it with calcium ions. This will help keep 115 in a stable state and accumulate more atoms.

É realmente trabalho para grandes pensadores, pessoas dedicadas e bastante credenciadas com conhecimento e estudos de causa. São o que se chama "supra-sumos". Parabéns. Portugal

I want to see the power generated here harnessed to fuel the Alcubierre FTL!

This isn't a commercial prototype (which doesn't have to be of practical size/weight for a spaceship in any case), and in the end, it'll be plain old electricity coming out of one.
We know what to do with that power. We don't know how to make a warp drive work.
      One thing at a time.
