Edit: For anyone that thinks I brought up her social anxiety for no reason, I’ve been of hers fan for a long time, since her “Tsunami” days. Summer is an inspiration for me specifically because of it. I rarely see black women be open about social anxiety, so it’s easy for me to feel alone. Her ability to persevere in spite of it, rather it be large performances or hate online, really makes me believe in myself as someone living with social anxiety also. I wasn’t expecting for this comment to get any attention or else I wouldn’t have made it (hostile discourse is a specific trigger for my anxiety), but anyway, it wasn’t meant to be ignorant. 🖤

She’s not THAT socially anxious people lol she’s been doing private venues for years and she’s been fine in small crowds. she’s stated multiple times that it’s the sold out stadiums and shit that are too much for her. Her real fans are here for her art and not the shenanigans
You guys dont have it . And you will never know or how hard it is to get up in front of people to perform. Today that call it soical anxity. Back when i was going up they didnt have a name for it. I grew up singing in a gosple group. And no matter how many time i got up there to sing or how many venues we did. It's this feeling that come over you that you cant control. Mine was so bad that i would just stare at the ground every time i sing. And the crazy part is that i had to push threw it every time. And my family use to get mad at me because they couldnt understand it. And it was hard for me to explain to them why. They just would yell and say quit being so shy and scared. And look at the people when you sing. And even until this day its still the same. When im around groups of people, when im on set working. That same feeling keep coming over me. Have of you seen my face on diffrent televsion shows. And might think the same thing. But it is hard and no joke. You got to have courage and push threw no matter what. But social anxity is no joke. And im much older than summer walker so i know excatly how she feel. At least now they got a name for it.
