The last Evolution vehicle only came out recently being the Mitsubishi Lancer X Final Edition, now they're focusing on family garbage like Pajeros, Tritons and ASX's. There will still be an occasional sporty car thrown in here and there however it won't feel the same as the Evolution series did.

    I drive a Lancer and I enjoyed this clip, but I feel the need to say I'm disappointed in this youtube channel.
    As much as recycling old Top Gear clips for essentially free income is a great business model, I, and many other subscribers I'm sure feel undersold by _The Stig_.
    When the trailers for this channel were released, they gave the impression that there was going to be some original productions made around The Stig himself completing new challenges and doing fun stuff for youtube. Instead this is just a dumping ground for things already seen and a place for BBC to pocket a little more beer money.
    If I didn't also happen to enjoy old, easy-to-digest TG clips now and then, I would have unsubscribed. Just know that I am mildly disgusted by what this channel has brought on.

      The newest STI and EVO models maxed out in what they can get are around the same price, HOWEVER with limited kit the EVO is more expensive, the reason being Mitsubishi's MR transmission is adding another 2k due to its abilities and cost, but the GSR is around the same as the STI.

    "Faster doesn't mean it's better". Well, one thing is being slower because the engine isn't as powerful, or there's more loss of power in the drivetrain. It's completely different when it's slower because it understeers like it has food trays under the front wheels. IT IS still a very capable rally car, but I can't imagine it understeering less than the EVO there either

  • @christoforospaphitis4090
    @christoforospaphitis4090 Před 3 lety +2

    The thing with these cars, to be driven to their maximum potential they need a different driving style especially the Subaru. I have driven both cars and they are a bit understeering INITIALLY and that is very true for the Subaru. The trick is to introduce a little bit of oversteer and then hold it with the throttle playing around with a 0 steering angle. Essentially you should not let the tyres roll into the corner in a progressive way as you do with most race cars but snap them into a corner. It is a tricky and counterintuitive thing to do but that's how you get the maximum from both of these cars. I remember the first time I drove an STi and I almost crashed it on the first right hander turn because of its inherent understeer because I went to drive it normally, I saved it and then snapped oversteered for the immediate left turn and was so much easier to control, then it dawned on me that my driving style had to adapt to the characteristics of the car and not the other way around. That being said the latest gens of Evo can be driven very close to their maximum potential even with a traditional driving style but from Evo 6 and before that is not true

      Where I live the evo isn't a particularly expensive car to run or buy and there seems to be more modern performance stuff about as opposed to Imprezas or evos, though I'd say late evos are marginally more of a common sight. No one would deny evos are astonishing performers
      If you want to go by cost, the ultimate 'factory special' version of any evo is no where near as expensive as the equivalent Impreza.
      Please understand though I'm not shit talking the evo in any way shape or form, they're also amazing machines.
      I forgot to say, I'm in the UK which still qualifies as Europe (for now at least.)

      @jeannotsobieski7260 Před 7 lety +3

      Chris Williams Indeed, in UK, Evos are not rare... Moreover, you had FQ-series ! But in France, it's not the same ! Evos 5, 6 and 7 are very rare in LHD cause Mitsubishi imported the Evo in Europe (except UK) only since 2004 with the Evo 8... And cars are a lot more expensive in France than in UK !

    For both of these all wheel drive rally style cars you need to turn into the apex later instead of diving into the turn almost touching the inside line/ edge of track and expect them to continue that line. All wheel drive cars have the fastest exiting speed when used correctly..... you can’t have a all wheel drive car built in 05 to have the technology to have a driver corner incorrectly but fix the drivers error by changing wheel spin and rpm to decrease understeer. Long story short, both cars are great, I just wish they had been driven through the apex correctly to increase lap times.

You can't drive it exactly the same. You can't use the exact same peddling. He learned the EVO well. He did not learn the subaru well. Of course it has more under steer.. that's why you don't floor it around the corners like that. I don't think he used very good lines with the subaru bc he was trying to make it be exactly like the EVO.

      They stopped it for the same reason toyota stopped the supra... it is a flagship car, they do not expect to make money off them... just a mark for their legacy.

    Impreza and Lancer always wrestling each other like competing brothers. They may be fight and taunt each other but at the end of the day they sleep in the same room. Like brothers.

      Soy Nobody tbh evo's are usually less reliable

    • @soynobody2741
      @soynobody2741 Před 7 lety

      based on what? the only known defet the evo might have is the transmission holding more than 400ft/lb of torque, another words, when been modified, also, if you ever modified a car, u usually upgrade the clutch anyways once you start adding a bit of power on your car.. wrx/sti are known to blow there engine in stock form, and changes drastically increase when you start modding. The 4g63 is world renown for the amount of power it can handle with ease, the 4b11 does not have that reputation yet, it might not be able to handle the crazy amount of hp the 4g does, but, it still a tuner friendly engine, and can still withstand mods with not so many problems (besides clutch as stated before)... anyways, besides the ej22 (we never got in the US), all wrx/sti engines are very fragile and are ready to mess up in stock form. anyways, evo's might be less reliable to some cars, but not when it comes to wrx/sti... a little backstory, i traded my 15 wrx (reason why i got a wrx cause new motor fa20dit, i currently own a gc8, my fav subaru, a built 2005 sti, cosoworth block and heads... anyways, i had to get rid of my wrx cause with less than 18k miles, it started acting crazy, typical subaru problems)... sooo, not sure where your comment is from, or what facts you have to back em up.

      Sound is mostly a point of exhaust, not engine. You can get every car to sound good if you know what you're doing...
      Not even to mention that they pretty much both have the same 2 L four-cylinder engine (although Subaru has some more variation on displacement). Just because one has a inline four design while the other is a flat four design doesn't change it that much.
