    Apparently the Top Gear crew was always on the ball with the filming, editing and music choices. Sure, the budgets got bigger later and everything got even better down the line, but still. That My Way jukebox bit was pretty clever.

    Still own one and anno 2023 more reliable than most of the newer cars because it doesn’t have a computer n over complicated electronics. Parts are fairly cheap and i own the 144 Hp 1.8 engine that offers a 210 topspeed with 6sec acceleration so no not a slow car (noisy yes thats true)
    Full option black leather MOMO interior 🥰
    Payed it 1000€ in 2019 and only changed his tires i mean this car is a little 💎

    Isn't it designed by Chris Bangle? Either way this car is not ugly at all, this design is incredible. Jeremy is not right about speed sensitive power steering, it is just a fast steering rack, the best thing on that car. :)
    But the engines, Fiat did not have Twin Spark ready until 1997 so they introduced 145 and 146 with boxer engines that were not powerful enough for 250 kg heavier car than the 33.
    I had 146 TI with 2.0 Twin Spark engine in it, this was the best combination as the car was lowered and with 150hp engine that had balancing shafts it was a brilliant experience. I miss that car very much.
    Today when looking at those generic Golfs and Opels from that era 145 and 146 still look and feel so better to drive. Thanks for the video! :)

      I think Bangle designed the 146, and Silva the 145

    • @BojanBojovic
      @BojanBojovic Před 2 lety +3

      @@alexandreb.1101 Actually the other way around, Bangle at Centro Stile for the 145, and Centro Stile under de Silva for the 146. The original 145 was Bangle's idea that was made to be a new Lancia, however when Alfa management saw the drawings they said it is a pure Alfa Romeo so they changed it a little bit so it became Alfa 145. Later the 146 just took the same front to the C pillar and added something that looked like a GTV at the back, I would say it was Bangle's design originally.

      @@BojanBojovic oooooooh! I remember it being supposed to be a Lancia, but yeah got the designers shuffled around!
      Great little cars, my brother owned the base Boxer with leather seats, a very nice car to sit in.

      @@BojanBojovic okay just found out why I confused them
      Bangle designed the 145 as a 5 door hatchback. Silva and his team only removed the rear door from Chris' design, and later turned it into the 146

    • @user-xj2lh9cv9h
      @user-xj2lh9cv9h Před 7 měsíci

      3 people where involved chris bangle did design it under de silva originally as a 5 door for a new gen of a lancia delta. But the fiat ceo did say it looks like a alfa and then it did go to the alfa designstudio and cressoni and bangle did the final work to make a 3 door alfa hatchback out of the 5 door lancia design, if i remember everything correctly.

  • @sergiogiacomosammartano7623

    I had one in the early 2000s, model year 1997 (second hand): 16 valve, twin spark engine, 105 HP stock, 120 HP with aftermarket exhaust. The car weighted 1290 kg and it went 0 to 100 Km/h (0-62 mph) in around 9.5 s. Roomy, comfortable, very good suspension setup and very good throttle response. One of the best cars I've ever had, still miss it to this day.

    • @CheapBastard1988
      @CheapBastard1988 Před 11 dny

      That's really heavy for a car that size. Is that empty weight? Or does it include all fluids?
      I used to have a 2001 Ford Mondeo 2.0 hatchback that only weighed 6kg more. And that's a much bigger car with a bigger engine and 4 stars EuroNCAP.

    Its hard to imagine how they did it for that if you went out and bought all the bits then painted a bare shell and built it up......
