Catalog Camaro: Converting to Early 2nd Gen - Butt Lift and Tummy Tuck - Stacey David's Gearz S12 E6

  • The Catalog Camaro is back in the garage and ready to go under the knife as Stacey shows how to do a butt lift and tummy tuck on a 2nd generation Camaro. What does that mean? Well, last season Stacey performed a nose job on this old ’81 Camaro to show how easy it is to get rid of the 80’s plastic front bumpers and put on the classic early 70’s split-bumper, rally sport front sheetmetal. This week he continues the makeover by losing the plastic rear bumper and wrap-around taillights and grafting in the early 70’s quarter panels, round taillights and chrome bumper. It’s more in depth than the front and definitely requires some skilled metal surgery, but Stacey shows you all the tricks on how to do it properly. So, sit back and enjoy the ride as Stacey details how to measure, cut, and weld your way to a much younger looking Camaro.

    Want to see more please this is just wicked killer cool. I’ve talked about wanting to do this to my 79 T-top car for 3 years. And to actually see it done is well ignition for the fuel!!! I bought this car three years ago as a build for me and my grandson who is now four. We lost my son his father in a car accident three years back. I purchased this car with some of the insurance money I acquired because of the accident. This car was purchased to share the love of cars that my son and I had together and now me and my grandson share together. My little man loves going to car shows and taking Papa‘s Camaro out and going for rides. I’m just in the middle of collecting parts so that way when he’s old enough to really turn wrenches him and I are going to build his car together and this is the plan that I have for it so thank you for these four videos on doing this conversion. I know my son is smiling down on the both of us every time my little boy and I fire it up and tear up the rubber. Seeing this brings tears and excitement and thought of the fun lil man and I will have building this car!!!!!thank you Stacey!!!

      But... But.... But, You actually have to drive those cars! No Anti lock brakes, no sensors to tell you if you're too close to something, no cameras, no GOS even! My Gosh! You mean I have to know where I'm going!
      People today don't have to learn how to not hit the brakes too hard on a wet road (I learned at 14, and in mom's ride! Never hurt mom's ride!), Or how power is control, (no traction control).
      It's just not as enjoyable to me as the old stuff. Most every car or trhck I've ever owned has been 60's. I still drive a 66 Beater Chevy Truck. I still have my 63 Bel Air. I do have a 96 Z71 and two 85 Trucks.
      Don't get me wrong, I could enjoy a new Challenger SRT. You can't get a 6 speed manual in a Hellcat. SRT is the Strongest one.

    I enjoy watching this channel and this video, the Camaro upgrade is awesome.
    Last year I tuned into a channel, a muscle car dealership and on that particular day for sale was a 1971 Plymouth Duster.
    What?????? It's a Dodge Demon ! Now the dealer listed the vehicle as a Duster because, well car guys understand the legality of it.
    The 'idiotic'comments were a plenty and had me rolling.
    " this is a scam " one viewer protested.
    But how was this done I asked myself?
    I understand changing the grille and emblems was acedemic But how did a person put those Demon taillights on?
    Curious, I googled;
    Converting a Duster to a Demon.
    This was new to me at the time and the research revealed step by step images covering changing the tail lamp panel and it wasn't that difficult.
    I've seen these Camaros after the fact so this video puts it all into perspective.
    Thanks Stacey

    I would want the small back glass so it looks factual. I'd rather fool people. So T Tops are probably out, but there's aftermarket ones, so you might slide. But a Roll bar would be needed to stiffen the chasey. They will twist with a lot of power.

    • @CarguyEd5150
      @CarguyEd5150 Před rokem +1

      I like the look of the larger rear glass window and the factory Fisher T Tops are pretty cool touch as well. If you install a good set of weld in subframe connecters, that will help with the body twist. I had a Ride Tech Tiger cage installed in my 77 TA and it really tied the chassis together.

    I love your shows but, you never finish them and you jump around. You had the CopperHead video that was 1 hour and 45 minutes long if not longer. It was start to finish the complete build. From the chassis to the finished product. Then you drove it. I loved that. I think we need more videos like that cause you explained and you built. You did it from start to finish. It was great. How ever most of your videos are short and you don’t finish them. I can’t tell you how many times I watched your videos and then I’d search all your videos to find the finish products and I can’t find them. It would be nice to see more videos. I’m not even sure you do these anymore but, I’d love to watch a full video front to back. Start to finish. You building a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab. One you can drive around town but, also drive it in the mountains and across small creeks.
