  • Just got it from Shane Yang. Performance much better than the Mercury fan from HK but still off the JTM ...time to get the JTM 6S to test.

I think that the reason your numbers are usually lower is because you face the intake side against the wall, hurting the flow. you may get closer to the advertised values if you clamp it to a table in open air instead.

Up the timing on the ESC, the yeps can handle it just make sure to put them in airflow because the 120 YEPs have a thermal shut down. Also, looking at the JP test of the 90mm fan it looks like they used a 10,000 mah pack and the voltage was most likely around 23.2 or something it being close to 10 c pull on that that would get them the extra .7 volts peak. Try a graphene pack, or an HV pack to hit the 3.5 kg thrust ... those packs are known to hold voltage better otherwise up the timing on the ESC

What's the effect on the output thrust and the current, by increasing the timing?

  • @HiFiNi-TheDigitalScientist

    hi there.
also noticed the ESC your using... what timing did you set at please?
    kind regards
    James

+James Morris I am using low timing

siang076 is that outrunner low eg: 18° Or inrunner low eg: 6°
Can I ask what your power supply is and PWM frequency please?

I noticed you used the YEP ESC. What is the PWM frequency did you set it to, for the JP? Thanks

      +Sam AdvanES can't remember. Think I didn't set that.

The Mercury 90mm 6s fan puts out 3.5 kg of static thrust. The one you were testing put out 3.15 kg of static thrust. Maybe your test battery is too small to get the best performance.

+Oudeis Eimi Measurement of static thrust is very subjective between different test stands. That's why i only measure against my own test stand. Not accurate to compare my result against other results by other test stands. And I always try to use the best battery available to me at that point of measuring.

Since when is thrust measured in units of mass?? Should be Newtons!

PLUS your using a crap battery -use a tattu r-line 95c 6s then you will alot better results
