Thanks Rich. I have the same fan with a Castle Creations 120A HV Talon in a FW F-16. I had to do basically the same mods to make it fit. No biggie... It really impresses at the field and it is super smooth. Everyone comments how it sounds like a real jet. There is a high pitch element that I just don't hear in other fans. Super sweet!
Absolute beast of a fan unit. I remember watching this a few years back, they sound almost turbine like. They look beautifully made, I wouldn’t mind one of these in my taft viper (I believe they are already a very good system-mine is a v3 too). As usual very good video Rich👍
Considering the purchase of a Freewing Avanti S 80mm EDF. Being a 50/50 builder/flyer, coming from the old days (early 90's) of balsa kits, CA, epoxy, monokote, etc. So while I appreciate the convenience of BNF, ARF, and such I enjoy the challenge of tinkering a bit and customizing the plane to make it my own. That being said I am exploring the practicality of buying the Freewing Avanti S 80mm EDF Ultimate Sport Jet - ARF PLUS. This is the unpowered version - comes without the EDF. Having enjoyed watching your video on the retro-fit of the JP Hobby 90mm all metal EDF I was wondering if I could install a 90mm JP EDF into the 80mm Avanti S. This is only a 10mm diameter difference (3/8") and less than 1-3/8" (31.4159mm) in circumference. Providing there is enough extra material to allow for the carving out of the motor cavity might this be a practical retro-fit? What other considerations would there be to consider - possibly weigh and CG effecting flight the great flight characteristics? I like the 80mm size of the Freewing Avanti S aircraft but JP doesn't make an 80mm EDF. Like the quality and the sound of the JP EDF motors. Could match up in the 70mm size (plane and motor) but like I said I like the size of the 80mm plane. Advice and/or suggestions.
Hello Rich... I'm thinking about swapping out my SUPER VIPER 105MM STOCK EDF UNIT for the JP 105MM 14s EDF for more power and speed but I have no idea of what speed control would be the most efficient for that setup. What esc would you recommend ?
What size batteries? It appears to me that you are using 2 4 cell packs, but what size are you using? I really like the turbine like sound of that unit.
I will be putting out a uncut flight demo hopefully soon, however i flew it the other day and got about 4 min from throttle up to touchdown and had about 25% remaining in the batterys (not including taxi out and taxi back!)... it has great speed and power with a decent flight time.... Lipos are two 5000mAh 4s 60c packs from roaringtopusa.com here in the USA, they have proven to be very good batteries.....
Hi Robson thanks for your support down there in Brazil👍Regarding the JP Fan i don’t sell them myself however you can get in touch with Banana Hobby in LA and they should be able to answer your questions. Send them an email at info@bananahobby.com and let them know i sent you as they do carry a range of JP fans, plus they support the channel as you may have seen. Thanks again for your support and let me know if i can help further ok:)
My understanding is that in a single engine plane or twin engine if they are close enough it doesn't matter. In a Messerscmidt 262 you would want one CW and the other CCW.
you should keep the DC cables as short as possible, if not the pulses from the lipo will fry your conductors on the ESC. better to extend the AC cables that current is more stable
maybe you should have waited to build in the edf and first tie-rap the esc , hookup the engine and the build in the EDF ;-)think the steps through before committing :-)
i would never use a lower amperage device especially a VHD on any motor, always derate for long uninterruptible service life of the equipment, never go lower then what motor needs. multiply what you need with 1.25 and then buy the closest equipment you can get. if its between 115 and 125 go with 125 amp Speed controller.

Music to my ears
Rich,
Doesn't appear to be to difficult a swap in the Valkyrie, making note of the precautions you mentioned. What radio gear are you using?
DX7.... the installation is super simple:)
nice sound
☃️ Hello 👋, enjoyed the mod.

Thats a good question.... I will have to check with the factory... I also have not used a 14s setup before....

G56AG Two 4s 5000mah
Thanks!
What's the maximum speed of your flight?
Hi which motor. is it?
What's the capacity of your battery setup? Also how much flight time does that give you?

really cool product and it has awesome sound but price is also a little bit high :)
Awesome unit! Do you know how many amps this one pulls at WOT?
I have not put it on a meter yet... the factory indicates that is draws about 93amps....
+RCINFORMER Awesome! Thanks Rich!

Those intake holes are good for thrust but not top speed, imo
do u using edf ccw or cw
