"You were right!"
"No, Foreman was right, wasn't he?"
"Aw, bollocks."
The blokest exchange in history
And he delivers it so quickly and in character that someone who didn't see the episode would think that was his real line. Too bad she couldn't improvise as well as he did.
Australians say bollocks?

Unironically something House would do. Makes him right even when he's wrong.
House angrily complimenting chase is my favorite thing

these r the reasons duogie hoser quit all of medicine
It's funny cuz Chase worked so hard to get complimented by House, meanwhile bloopers he gets all the compliments in the world

Hugh needs the working for the what.
It's kinda weird how Hugh Laurie continues speaking with an American accent even after they call 'cut', but I know he was so invested in his role as House that he actually had to un-learn walking with a limp afterwards. That's dedication.
He was dedicated as hell but apparently he just found switching between accents hard so he preferred to stay in character. As for the limp, he’s said back in 2015 even years on that he hasn’t been able to shake it.
@@paradoxinraindrops141 Interesting stuff!
That's the reason House loses his cane in a later series- Laurie found it was actually affecting his ability to walk when he wasn't filming, so they wrote it out.
@@beemoh maybe he’s a method actor and gets super into the character that he maintains/mimics the behavior
@@lunarialoonatic Nah, it's just walking with a limp for years will give you a permanent limp
Ilove how even when he makes mistakes and they have to try again he keeps his american accent and stays in character
I think I read that it's a struggle for him to get back into the accent reliably if he stops all the time, so in order to remain consistent he does it all the time. If I recall correctly there's an interview with Stephen Fry which states he was shocked when he went for lunch with Hugh during filming and he was speaking in the accent.
Charlie hunnam does that too in Sons of Anarchy
Yeah, you'll be suprised at how often he sounds american.
NonsensicalVids I remember he did some live singing probably for the bbc and it was with an American accent. He said something like he grew up liking that music, so it was natural to sing like that too. I guess he could go back into American accents very easily
Char10tti3 evidently not

Haha
"You antipodean fleck of bumfluff!"
I love how he leaves in the middle of it XD

HEHFJDJD I WAS ABOUT TO AGREE CAUSE I LOVE CHASE BUT THEN I REALIZED WHAT YOU MEANT-
The way Wilson's actor said "Coffe? Bad idea. Water would be better for you" is so funny to me. It's almost a Superman voice.
3:25
What’s hilarious is that in the scene, House had a migraine after inducing one on himself with nitroglycerin, and Wilson was intentionally being loud to torture poor House. 😂
the pose too
Jimmy Wilson is basically Superman; House is Lex Luthor 🤣
I thought it sounded more like old sesame Street Kermit The Frog
"NO, SHE MIGHT DIE BECAUSE I HAD THE BAD LUCK TO SPILL YOUR FUCKING VI- ooh, I'd better not say that..."
He got so into that omg
I know! 🤣
I feel like he doesn't even have to go into character to play Wilson, I think that's just who he is. lol
me too xD
To be fair Wilson is fairly vanilla.
@@NoThankUBeQuiet But he has the edge - like when he kidnapped House's guitar or dosed him or ''proposed'' to him in public place or played chicken race in the hospital....
which is why he is so good in this show. He is a perfectly believable character. He has that look of a doctor.
@@NoThankUBeQuiet I feel the same he's pretty much the typical gear to whatever inner workings is going on with House in an episode. He started off as very vanilla and they actually developed his character to be more....dependent i guess is the word

But seriously, people, lighten up.

@@mactheknife4786 "Yeah, we all saw it too. Well done you. You can now copy down what people have said. You’d make an excellent 4 year old."
The original team has a chemistry that is unmatched
I mean, Chase and Cameron were actually dating.
I totally agree - I’m rewatching this series for the 4th time, and I’m always a little disappointed when we switch to 13 & Taub’s reign
@@pamelawallace2293I'm still in s1 and wanna ask why exactly are you disappointed? Is the characters u mentioned are bad in the series as in written badly or just has less chemistry than other cast?
@@jasonremy8688 personally taub is a super uninteresting character, and thirteen (although a pretty good character) just never captivates the same as the original three
@@jasonremy8688 I do feel the chemistry of the original team is stronger. All things being equal, House is still the star- I just preferred his original back-up singers. I hope you’ve gotten to see the 3 Stories episode by now- to me, that’s the best of the entire series!
I love how Hugh Laurie breaks character when he messes up but not the accent. Hearing Dr. House apologize profusely is really something else
True 😂 apparently many actors, Hugh Laurie included, find it very hand switching between accents so they keep the new accent for the entire filming day. Stephen fry, a good friend of Laurie's, tells a hilarious story of how he was passing by the House MD studios and went to say hello, and his very British friend answered him with a very American accent.
"The hair is adorable, I don't deny that!"
"the figure is svelte"
And he says "figger." Perfect American accent, but he still pronounces it "figger." 😍
What does svelte mean?
@@Vampiremiranda1998 Slender or slim, graceful and elegant.
@@Vampiremiranda1998 slender man
It's funny- the Englishman and the Australian know the same phrases, but Chase gets to speak in his own voice, and Laurie has to maintain the American accent.
TheGoldcountry I think they were looking for an American to portray House because he says all the important medical words so that people could still understand him somewhat even if they didn't know the disease or medicine.
Pumuckl the whole concept of house is Sherlock Holmes series but if him and Watson we're both doctors. And to make it not so on the nose make some Americans. And also house being American makes it kind of funny with the stereotype of Americans being rude.
He's playing an American so he has to, while Chase is supposed to be Australian.
@@loot6 Actually, no. Chase was originally conceived as a 35-year-old radiologist from California. And he wasn't a fellow, but a longtime attending in House's dept. Casting Jesse Spencer changed the character significantly.
@@wobby1268 There are plenty of Australian actors that play Americans or English characters. They obviously decided to make the character Australian whereas they didn't with House's character. At the end of the day, Chase is nowhere near as important a character as House. In fact his character is petty much gone in the later seasons.

I've always wondered if Hugh would go back to his British accent if he messed up. apparently he doesn't
Inverted Games apparently it was difficult for him to switch accents quickly so he’d just stay in character all the time

Hugh could never go to a British accent unless he was born in the whole of the UK at the same time he was born in England, lived in England !but !his nation !not country! is Britain !

House is such an amazing show. Hugh Laurie did an amazing job portraying him.
Ariana Zuniga That's because Hugh Laurie is more or less playing his real character.
apostolos Papadopoulos absolutely not true. House is the total opposite of him. Plus, he's British. It's amazing enough he can speak like a real American.
You can say that again!
You should watch his old british shows. Hes mind bloing in them!
It's interesting to see how a character as repressed as House can be played by someone as naturally expressive and animated as Hugh Laurie. For example, at 0:32, the way Laurie moves back to his starting position was so fluid and alluring to me, I still haven't stopped replaying it.
He’s an excellent actor

As I understand it, Hugh Laurie is such a nice person, great actor, while Dr. House, well... is a different man indeed.
From all accounts Hugh Laurie IS. a genuinely nice guy. If you go on BBC he does a improv comedy show with another actor. Very funny and shows him in a different light.
@@EdsterIII And he sings on that too (despite all efforts of his costar, the inimitable Stephen Fry, to make him belt up)
On British TV he often was cast an an affable idiot. I've been watching a bunch of Frye and Laurie and the transformation is utterly remarkable. This might be before your time, but the nearest I can think of is Betty White as Sue Anne Nivens and Rose Nylund. The other surprise is how the addition of unkempt grey hair and a three day beard suddenly made him TV star handsome.
Want a mind freak? Cut back and forth between one of House's rants and Hugh Laurie's 'George' character from Blackadder III or IV.

No, he's from the UK. His parents are Scottish
@@chao807 Not sure about his Mum but his Dad was born in Cambridgeshire so why is he Scottish? Anyway, Hugh was born in England so has an English accent, not Scottish.
@@loot6 his imdb page says that both his parents are of Scottish Descent, so I was just going off of information from there. I also never claimed he had a scottish accent, just that his parents were Scottish. If my facts are wrong then forgive me, but it is just the information I had at the time
@@chao807 Ok, Scottish descent is not Scottish. I mean, where do you draw the line? If we go back in our lineage far enough you can find any kind of descent. If a 100% white man traces back far enough he may just find a 100% black man/woman. It's a fine line to define really. If his parents were Asian, but born in England then maybe we'd have a tougher time, but since this is just nationality I think it's fair to say he's English since his parents were born in England as was he. Although since I'm not clear about his mum we can't say 100%.
And yes you didn't say he had a Scottish accent, you didn't comment either way, but the original comment is about accent and you just remarked his parents were Scottish so I felt the need to make it clear regarding his accent.
I was just clarifying why I said my comment, calm down. Like I said, if my facts are wrong then forgive me, I was just trying to help someone, especially when the comment I replied to said he was Australian. That second comment of mine was not to say that I was right and you were wrong, I just explained my thoughts when writing the first one.
