Why is dr house acting so nice and speaking in a British accent
Hugh Laurie speaks with a British accent because he is a Brit ...
@@anneroy4560 he steaks with n English accent. There's no such thing as a British accent
There is, people just tend to forget Britain has three countries in it, not just England
@@funkyfranx Wait. You mean England is part of Britain!? I thought it was just Wales and Scotland??

That's just the best thing ever. I guess House is trolling Wilson again.
He did give me a reason 🤣😂
🥺🥺
Lol
@Michael Persico that happens when you're not just playing a character but you are that character
sure
Every line is improvised but so perfectly witty and within 30 seconds he has everyone in the room laughing. That's the mark of a true showman.
Ya I forgot for a minute that his entire career was comedy before this.

@@rgi9509Blackadder
“Improvised”
Definitely not improvised, although he no doubt wrote it himself.
For those who don't know, he was a comedy skit show star loooooooooooooong before House. He's also a talented musician.
THANK YOU so tired of everyone only mentioning house. He's a good actor and portrays him perfectly, of course, but before House he was a genius and one of my favourite comedians. And a legend. Still is, obviously
#6 for Cambridge v Oxford in one of the closest contests in the history of the boat race; blown-up in the cult comedy "The Young Ones" and played Bertie Wooster with his colleague Steven Fry (as Jeeves). A very talented funny man...
Blackadder
The set of pipes on this man is phenomenal. Multifaceted talent, that is.
He was also in Blackadder for a couple of seasons.
I half expected him to walk on with a cane.
British Nerd this was season 3 episode 1 house
He got so used to the limp that he actually started having real life problems with it, toward the end of the show.
Im so used to the voice he makes in house
I full expected him not to be British
Yessss that's it!!
House won an award for playing Hugh Laurie?
dusansa98 ...
Yes...
HAHAHAHAHA
It's weird how it does feel that way...
It's like his accent is fake, and his american accent is real.
Hahaha.
High Laurie is both brilliant and sexy!!!!#
Its 2024 and I finally started watching House. I want to kick myself for not watching it sooner. Hugh Laurie is the best and he 100% deserves this award
Hey it’s never too late. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Truly. It’s basically Sherlock Holmes and John Watson dynamic between him and Wilson as far as enabling/actually liking him, but if Sherlock had a team of subordinates to abuse and manipulate, and Cuddy kind of acts as the commissioner Gordon to his Batman. Like “don’t tell me anything that I won’t have to testify against you in court; otherwise let’s work together to enable your mad antics.” Funny stuff.
+1
Same here! I am on season 5 now and I wish I watched it earlier!

Hugh wrote and starred in a British sitcom called " *Fortysomething* ". He played a married doctor with three sons. Anna Chancellor played his wife. His oldest son was Benedict Cumberbatch. His doctor partner was Peter Capaldi. It was a very off beat show, with very quirky humor. But wonderful to see all these great actors together!!
Nigel Williams wrote it.
holy shit all of those actors except Ann Chancellor are from shows I absolutely loved House, Doctor Who, and Sherlock. I gotta check this out.
WHAT A CAST
u just named all of my fav actors
I am having a difficult time finding a site to watch this on. Amazon claims to have it, but it's unavailable to stream.
It still amazes me that he won out of that collection of TV leading men at the time. So many great actors where up against him.
are you implying that he didn't deserve to win?
That's true. I have seen those shows. They are all great, but Hugh/ House is best
@@amyjones637 lol I think their implication was that it was a tight race, as (at that time) all the nominated actors were of incredible ability and fame and it's a very hard decision between those top guys as to who was to be awarded top actor.
@@TheCrazyOrange yes true haha but Hugh always deserves the win
Got a vote of approval from Jack Nicholson at the end, that's "high cotton"; it was a great speech, his comic timing is delightful; I guess we'll just have to grit our teeth and admit he's practically perfect.

Hugh is so real. He just says what comes to him rather than the regular boring BS that most actors say to avoid controversy and preserve an image. This is one of the more interesting and charming speeches I've heard on an awards show.
Yes.. He really is great
Although the way he opened it up with a dolce and cabana joke might have been rehearsed. But eh, I do like the genuine vibe of the guy

I was born that year lmao
For me, House and Cheers! 👏 👏👏
3 years later, still the same opinion?
Hugh Laurie is such a brilliant actor.
Caught totally off guard by the win, he pulls off a fantastic and funny impromptu acceptance speech.
Are you a time traveler?
You can tell the sarcasm and jokes are just like HOUSE. Lmfao
House is just like him
A RB Well, yes, in some ways. He seems to be so sincere, just like House, I mean, not just at the way he talks, but at how he performs and shows himself. But I think there are lots of differences between them two.
No, he's not
Totally agree but I didn't understand why more people didn't laugh?! I guess the people in the venue wouldn't have voted for him!!
That's why they hired him. And his very American accent.
Despite not having a speech on hand he still delivers a truly elegant and eloquent number doesn't he?!
His speech might be acting like having no speech
@Norron Ieganda - it could be, but with his background in comedy he can easily be improvisng. And pauses in the later part suggest he was, at least partially
Norron leganda I'm pretty convinced he didn't have a speech. Everything he said came on the fly, not something he prepared or rehearsed.
Louise Osborn
He does :)) He truly is a natural! I love Hugh Laurie for as long as can remember :)) Chapeau!!!!!

Having been a fan his long before House in such British gems as Jeeves and Wooster, Black Adder and A Bit of Fry & Laurie, it took a long time for me to get used to his American accent (which he does excellently).
lynninpain same here. Been a fan of his since the 80s...loved him in Blackadder. When I first started watching House it seemed so weird to hear him speak with an American accent...which he does flawlessly. To me he will always be the funny Brit.
I love blackadder so much and it’s crazy to me seeing him in house while thinking “Prince George really has gone up in the world”
@@georgemcgukin5576 That's how good an actor he is! He can actually get someone to say, without a trace of irony, that they think going from Prince Regent - head of what was, at the time, the richest and most powerful nation on Earth - to an American doctor, is really going up in the world.
Some might say "His Royal Highness" is a slightly loftier professional title than "MD", and that George was, if anything, demoted, but in the interest of diplomacy, let's call it a lateral move.

I’ve been a fan of Hugh Laurie since the eighties when he was in Blackadder. He got his start in British comedy and I never would have imagined he could do an American accent so well. He was the reason I started watching House in the first place.

Wrong. Breaking Bad is the best series, you should watch it.
i already did but it will never reach to the level of house and dexter
ImAwakelN Breaking Bad doesn't come close to House, sorry about that. Breaking Bad was way over-hyped, and to be honest, bland as fuck.
iJustDontGiveAShit Three consecutive Emmy wins for Bryan Cranston against Hugh Laurie suggests otherwise.
this was 100% deserved, coming back years later i'm still blown away by how much he committed to this role and really brought it to life. and this speech was so engaging
I love Jack Nicholson in the end being so happy that Hugh finally thanks everyone in the room.
With most acceptance speeches, you want them to get off the stage. With Hugh's, you want him to stay on.
He should have won at least 4 Emmy awards, really, Golden Globes are good, but should have won EMMYS! Idiots at the TV awards. He is amazing and so funny too.
Bryan Cranston. No explanation needed.
This was in 2007, I'm not sure if breaking bad was on at that time, but if it was, it was probably the first season, and breaking bad made a name for itself during it's first season, but the awards came after it's first season.
evan nosakowski I'm assuming he meant more awards in the upcoming years. Not this one in particular.
ProjectGibix no actually season 5 onwards House became a bit of a drag. The first four seasons were just breathtaking. I lost a lot of interest after the new team (Olivia Wilde, kal Penn, etc) took centre stage.
Sagar Behera+ I agree. The new team killed it for me, and the character became more of a caricature after that as well. The first two years of House were amazing. Third and fourth years were ok. After that I gradually stopped watching because of the changes they made to the show.
Jumping between Hugh's comedy acts such as 'Fry and Laurie', 'Blackadder' etc. and House makes me even more convinced Greg is a real person who just happens to look like Hugh. But honestly, his talent knows no bounds.
2:22 "I would like to thank Robert Sean Leonard. I can't remember why. He did give me a reason."
That happens when someone is nice to you on a regular basis. You start to forget the action and remember just the feeling, like with family.
