Only defensive player to win the Heisman, that alone gives him a case. Not saying he is, but it at least makes the suggestion one that is not outlandish.
And before anyone says, "But he played WR too, blah blah blah". He did, but not really as much as people make it out to be. Still, his impact there and on special teams bolster his case.
In Michigan's biggest games that year he came up huge. On the road at night against #2 Penn State be had a Rec TD, against #4 OSU he had a punt return TD and INT in Michigan's own endzone keeping points off the scoreboard, and against #7 Washington St in the Rose Bowl he again had a INT in their own endzone. He came up huge in the biggest games.
Almost forgot to add his god-mode INT in East Lansing against the Spartans.
I’ll always remember the game he had against the Cowboys back in 2009. He had a sack, forced two fumbles (both recovered by the Packers), and an INT at the goal line. He singlehandedly beat the Cowboys that day
He dogged them that day.

My favorite player to watch ever. An absolute monster every week. I wish he’d got one with the Raiders, but as a Packer fan I’m so glad he could get one with us.
As an Eagles fan I’ve seen some great DBs over the years, Eric Allen, Troy Vincent, Brian Dawkins, Malcolm Jenkins and I’ll even throw Darrell Green in there despite him playing in Washington. This video was great as I missed Most of Woodson’s career, but wow what instinct!
Dont think there's ever been a smarter defensive player in the NFL. And then to be blessed physically as well? Sheesh. Absolute First ballot Lock.
Luke Kuechly is up there with CWood in terms of smarts, but otherwise I wholeheartedly agree. For my money, Woodson is the GOAT DB, no doubt in my mind.

I think Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, and Polamalu for that matter, often get put up at the top of smartest defensive players and deservedly so. You don't often here Woodson in the same sentence but he deserves to be.
One of the best to do it. Well deserving of the HOF. So versatile
Woodson should have won the superbowl the year he stip sacked brady but the refs bailed the pats out.
He still got one with the packers though. Go Pack Go!

Not a Raiders or Packers fan but Woodson has always been one of my favorite corners to ever play. Early in his career when he had speed he was so dangerous.

Never liked any of the teams he played for from Michigan to Oakland/Green Bay but I’ve always loved the way he played the game, plus he’s from the same area of NW Ohio as I am so I’ve always rooted for him 💪🏼

Unfortunately he was a little too honest and outspoken about management for the liking of Green Bay hierarchy so they cut him after 2011. Thought he was washed up.
So he goes on to be defensive player of the year.

Just flip the two names and then you’ve got it. Jaire just doesn’t have that Ball Hawk instinct tho. Yeah he can make interceptions, but I feel his primary thought is incompletion first, Int second-which is smart cause you don’t want to be attacking the ball but giving up the completion cause you over extended yourself.

He's highlighting those 4 years because like he said, he was one of, if not the best defensive player in the league at that time, and if it wasn't for those four years, he may still have been a hall of famer, but certainly not first ballot.
