Dude, you just described and touched on every single problem I am having with my 2008 Chevy HHR. Rear door hatch will not open (unless you put a fuse in an empty fuse position). My rear wiper on that door will not work although it does when you bypass the relay under the engine compartment fuse box. Rear left passenger door window will not roll up and down or is intermittent. ABS and Traction dash lights are on yet. There are no issues with those things. I just bought this a few days ago and I swear it feels like it is possessed. The funny thing? The car engine and transmission runs so damn well it rides smooth like a new car. I am a gigging musician who travels and needs the space in the back for some of my equipment. I thought these would be easy fixes. Speed sensors are working fine as they are relaying back perfect information and hooked up to a very expensive scanner can clear the lights but they just come on again. If I buy a new one or a used one, I hear they have to be programmed? Can only the dealer do this?
And edit to my comment, the dealer cannot fix or program these anymore, nor do they sell the body control module.

Did yu change the battery to the keyfob ? Of yu did yu Probly drop the black pin with out that your car won’t work yu will have to get a locksmith to re program a new key
@@Manest3272 if you’re talking to me, yes I finally had my friend who works at with a Chevy dealer in Lake Havasu, Arizona (I live in California, but I play in Arizona all the time) put in a new body control module. Programmed everything perfect. The only thing that is not working is the traction control button probably need to have that programmed. But everything else is great now. I shouldn’t have to go to Arizona to have this done while California tells me they can no longer get these. What a crock of BS!
I believe I fried the BCM on my '06 Taurus several years ago while doing an oil change. My filter wrench shorted out against the hot wire to the starter which Ford engineers decided did NOT need a rubber boot covering it. Always disconnect the battery cable or at the very least, wrap electrical tape around the band on the filter wrench on these vehicles.

2008 clio mk3----went to start yesterday-nothing just a clicking noise coming from BCM unit which is located under glove box--i then noticed wipers very slow and lights on dash flashing uncontrolably----tried numerous times same thing happened---rang mechanic-he said BCM unit needs removed and sent to specialist repair shop-----------cost about £350 sterling for fix --------not sure how much new one is i c one at £470 on ebay but then u have to take it to renault garage to get it reprogrammed-----would that cure my problem based on info i gave or would u recommend a new one-thanks for ur assistance
Need help; mazda cx5 with interior lights malfunction, headlamps dim, lock actuators malfunction and click constantly, trunk won’t open at times, car alarm won’t set occasionally, heat/ac does trippy stuff, radio acts up and now CEL with codes p013A, u0401:00 and u3003:16. I’m thinking it’s BCM but alternative solutions can be passenger side ground wire bolt has been painted during possible previous body work creating issue grounding (apparently a common issue with these vehicles) but ground wire could create some of my issues but doesn’t match everything. Wondering it 02 sensor code (p013A) is a separate issue or somehow connected to ground wire issue or even BCM faulty? Any suggestions?
I’m working on a howo truck from china that fell into a ditch on its side , after making repairs we found the BCU badly damage , burnt to a crisp, I would like to know if the door lock or window switch can cause the BCU to fail if there are shorted out ?

Our 2010 Nissan Murano intermittently will turn over fine. It just wont actually start. No ebgine codes. But we do have B2562 and B2606 codes with the scanner. No trouble lights on dash. Wait 30 mins and it starts up and runs great. These codes both point to BCM or harness. Could that cause a crank, but not start?
My father has a 05 grand cherokee, crank but no start and every time you turn the key the wipers cycle about a dozen times before finally stopp9ng in a random place, a bunch of codes for losimg connections , what do you think
Do you think it would be the same problem for 2009 cadillac sts the trunk won't open and the airbag light came on. Also the power seats won't move forward or backwards. The steering wheel won't adjust either.
I'm having absolutely no issues with my car, BUT I lost a key and wanted a replacement from the dealership where I bought it. And they can't code the new key... I have a 2011 Sonata LE that has a sunroof. Sometimes it work, but usually not. I see there are two fuses that service the Sunroof: a 7.5A fuse that also has BCM on it (column 5,mrow 2) as well as a 20a fuse on column 4, row 4). I think a short to the Sunroof switch or motor is draining my battery overnight, or two nights. If I pull the BCM Module 2 fuse, will it affect anything else? Thanks.

Could it cause issues with the climate control on a Ram? May be HVAC module since screen says climate off and stays off yet fans work. I noticed weird issues like cruise stopped working then started working a day later. Hl says out but on. Did get the code that BCM lost communication, no HVAC code

2:43 Hello I have a 2003 Chevy avalanche 1500 4x4 z71 with 5.3 liter engine, some times or every other day on initial first startup and any start up through the day , I have reduce engine power, my cluster gauges flash , my language settings change from English to French or Spanish , my rear view mirror direction info start scrambling , I get engine sensor codes going off , and the sensor was replaced 2 todays before and engine stops running for about 20 miles rough down the road bad gas smell and then it shuts off , I have to wait for about a hr then it will start but rough and then it will smooth out very unpredictable . Also on initial morning startup it back fires loud and won’t start , then turn key off and starts right up fine and runs good for about 20 miles then dies . You think it’s bad bcm or ecm
My horn don't work sometimes. But my problem in my 05 Denali, the blower for front and back heat. One will blow one day maybe the other will work the next day. One usually works but mostly the front is out. New fan new resistor

OK, I have watched your videos religiously. I replaced my BCM on my 08 HHR. Everything works great except the traction control button. It used to work before I replaced the BCM but after replacing, it no longer works. Is this something that can be controlled by the BCM? And can it still be programmed in there? In other words, did somebody not program it to work sorry for all the questions. Everything else came back to life except this one thing. And of course it’s bothering the hell out of me.
With access to the BCM, can I disable non-canbus recognition since I have LEDs all over the car?
my g35x wont start. i can press the push start & all the lights/accessories turn on but no crank or engine sound at all. the lights on the dash flicker as do the inside cabin lights & then it wont turn off by itself by push of the button. i have to disconnect the battery for the car to turn off again

I have a 06 DTS it will every once in a blue say service traction control and stabilitrak. I will show up and beep for a few seconds then stop then I may not see if for a while. It is giving a BCM module code but I feel like it may be a bad wire somewhere as it doesn't seem to affect anything else.

Hello, if you have a bad bcm, could that cause all your sensors to throw a high & low voltage code, like P0118, P0122, P0223, & P0443. I change all the sensor connectors & sensors. Van still will not start. Have new spark plugs wires, spark plugs, & coils. No spark, even have new ECU. All fuses, & relays are good. New battery, alternator, starter, & water pump. Checked wire harness, & wires. They look like they're in good shape. I checked all my grounds, they were still connected well. What could be the reason for them codes still? My bcm is malfunctioning for sure. I noticed I had experienced some of those symptoms ya mentioned in the past. I was having ECU problems, but didn't realize I was having bcm problems, as well. Help.

@@apppleboi2858 , No sir. Why would I do that and it's the engine harness, at fault. I'm repairing my engine harness, and replacing the ECU connectors. Ya know, when you do research and then proper diagnostics, it's easy to discover a proper solution to an electrical problem. Just ordered an aftermarket harness, to replace the bad wiring on my harness.

Try new battery in fob first
Plug your fob into your dash. Dead battery or not. Should still start the car. Fob slot is about knee level on driver side
I have a 2015 silverado 1500 LTZ. My dash lights sometimes flicker, headlights flicker and volt meter will bounce between 12 and 14.5 volts. I have checked both grounds in cab by A-pillars, both clean and no obstruction. Cleaned both grounds from battery to frame and motor and replaced battery ground sensor. I do get a loss of power steering but not that often. So could a failing BCM be responsible?
Since my last diagnosis, I have replaced ground clamp and had alternator checked. Voltage regulator failed test. Replaced alternator and system is now working correctly.

It doesn’t need to all be at the same time and problems can be intermittent.
My problem with my Pontiac torrent is, the power stays on after I take the key out of the ignition. The windows roll up and down, the wipers turn on, the headlights turn on etc…, all without a key. Could this be a bcm problem?

I have a 2013 Ssangyong Stavic - Car has automatic locking at 50kmph. However the car will continue trying to lock the doors after they have already locked. And will then unlock as the car slows down. So car is constantly locking/unlocking the doors while driving. The aircon also works intermittently. Sometimes will be really cold, and other times feels like the heater is on with the same aircon setting. - I also have an electric window on the drivers side which is very slow to go back up. Could these all be symptoms of a faulty BCM?

My A/C blows cold then next min blows warm (I've already charged it & checked for leaks), My 2 back windows won't roll up or down, my horn honks intermittently and my dash lights flicker sometimes.
Wow this is everything that is wrong with my Kia Sportage 2011 - when I start up, for a few minutes the dashboard is fine but nothing works, then after a few minutes the blinking starts.......turn signals, lights, windows don't work. The guy who looked at it said that the BCM is faulty and I remember a few years back water was coming into the vehicle from top of the windshield that was not properly sealed.......seems it got into the BCM which is under the dash. Now I can't get a BCM because Kia no longer manufacture for the 2011 model. I have been searching every website I know of, but nothing.
What my tech can't tell me is if there is a way to modify the BCM since I can't get a replacement or does it mean my vehicle is now dead and done for since I can't drive at nights without lights.
So once I get the replacement BCM for my truck does it needs to be reprogrammed?

First, start by checking for blown fuse or bad relays.
How about transmission issues or not engaging in a 2014 jeep Cherokee, and the only dtc is a body control module one.. replace bcm?

hi... good explanation but there are things I don't understand, my 1998 Buick Regal, the Power locks don't work, I only opened the driver's door with the beeper and the trunk... but the beeper broke and I bought two new but I can't program them, even if they work half as before, because the power locks don't work...so I got the electrical schematic of the system and I checked it completely and it seems to be fine, the actuators are working and have current, the same with the switch the doors... when you press to open it sounds a click click in three little boxes that look like relays and at the same time in the circuit relay it also clicks....so I bought a new one and it continues doing the same thing, I put the original one on it back and now it closes when you press to open and when you press to close it sounds three bells...also when you put the car in Parking it locks instead of opening...it drives me crazy and I don't know what to do...I know this post It's long but it seems to me that you are a person who can help me... a strange thing is that when I move the relay it stops working and clicks and then I move it from new and start to close...

Hi great video, they have made these vehicles do hard to work on. I have a 19 Kia Sorento, LX V6 AWD, when I open the doors the interior lights don't come on. Tested the Map/Dome light assembly and it's works 100%. What would be the next step, replacing the BCM or is there a designated relay for the lights?
Take it to someone who knows what they’re doing- electrical issues are best diagnosed by a professional. These newer cars are so sensitive with their complex wiring and sometimes dozens of control modules that its not worth saving a few bucks trying to do it yourself
Check the harness for the driver's door. Pull out the bellows and look for broken wires. It's a common problem. Pull the wires one at a time using your index finger. If the insulation stretches, the conductors are severed. Repair wires.

Hi there, I have a 2019 Chevy Equinox which has all sorts of intermittent electrical issues such as some or all power windows don't work for days and sometimes all work, sometimes the driver side door won't lock/unlock and sometimes it does, sometimes the interior lights works and sometimes it doesn't, sometimes the display changes from audio to android phone and vice versa and sometimes everything seems just fine and so on and so forth. This has been happening on and off since almost a year now after I bought this brand new. All fuses and relays seems good. Neither the Chevy service center nor auto electrical technicians can figure out the problem. Already spent some $$$ and these issues still remain, though the car drives great otherwise. Could this be the BCM issue or something else? Please advise. Thank you.

@@grumpyoldrockers1048 LOL, the invisible predator in the car is getting energized by sucking up the charges. But jokes aside, after carefully watching a lot of videos on CZcams, I bought a multimeter and a test light and am about to diagnose the culprit myself in piecemeal by first checking all fuses and relays again and then the connectors, modules, harnesses and finally the ECM, PCM. Have you found out the problems in your 2008 Chevy HHR yet?
@@earthlycreature8772 oh yeah I know what the problems are. OK the main problem is the ABS and traction light are on. Did a live road test and the wheel sensors are great and all four work in tandem and are giving great readings so we know it’s not the wheel sensors. We clear those lights and we can drive it for miles and miles. Not a problem they won’t come on. Soon as I turn the car off, and turn it back on, Bam the lights come back on. The rear hatch lock won’t open. But there is an empty fuse in the main fuse box number 11 if you put a fuse in there, the hatch will open and close perfectly. But that is an empty fuse slot. But somehow it bypasses the BCM. Same thing with the rear window wiper, it doesn’t work at all, but we jumper the relay and the rear wiper works perfectly! Then I have an intermittent Door window switch. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. all these things as described in this great video are controlled by the BCM. I’ve checked the BCM for faulty, wiring or ground problems, that’s not it. I’ve got a bad BCM.
@@grumpyoldrockers1048 Please share how you made out? I am getting ready to Get a refurbished Pre-Programmed BCM for my 2010 Impala.. I took out the BCM to get the Part number off it and opened it up to look at the board and It looks Perfect.. So I am hesitating on buying the newer one.. I have been having intermittent No Crank No Start issues the Usually Start with Warning Chimes, Service Everything Messages, Gauges go Crazy back and forth, Door Locks on/Off Constantly, Shifts get Rough BUt not Limp Mode and sometimes it actually goes into limp mode.. Once I shut it off for a while then begins a No Crank No Start... Most of the times a can Disconnect Battery and then it gets back to normal.. Took it to dealer and they got me for a $800 for diagnosis fee and New Starter.. Worked for 2 days and No Crack No Start.. Finally get it Started and Limped it back to Dealership.. They had it for 3 weeks and Couldn't recreate the problem... They were leaning towards Bad BCM and wanted $450 for new BCM and wouldn't charge me for labor... I took it back from them and it worked for 5 days great Until this Past Saturday... Any Help from anyone would be much appreciated.

Yes problems most likely will be intermittent
Sadly VW cloud the issue by having a control module in the doors as well as an overall control module (comfort control module). Makes it hard to know which is faulty
Also, since it communicates with other modules it can even create drivability issues with the car.
Would the BCM have anything to do with parking lights staying on all the time?

Can a failing bcm cause the engine to run poorly, like misfire, run rough, almost die if you put it in gear? So basically can a bad bcm module disrupt the can bus signals such that the ecm can’t operate properly?

All gauges went haywire! Lost power steering and the power locks were going up and down!
Had the BCM replacement under warranty!
But now it's happening again with no warranty! 😂

It's not difficult to replace the BCM. However for some vehicles, the BCM must be reprogrammed after replacement.
sometimes, the pins can be resoldered as a DIY. On Dodge Caravans, for example, the plugs on the BCM (and instrument panels) sometimes get cold solder joints that crack over time with vibrations.

2015 Nissan Altima I have a fault with my BCM I scan my whole entire car and it comes up an said BCM control system 1 fault my headlight is not showing bright enough like I don’t have any headlight. I change my bulb I pulling new headlight and lNothing change.

I've got a loss of communication to the BCM on 03 LB7 sierra, won't truck allow it to run like the security is shutting it down (fires over and dies) however no security light on the dash, ive also got through the relearn procedure several times incase. In order to start the truck I have to turn
1. disconnect the batteries
2.turn the key to the first position
3. Hold the positive cables to the negative cables for 10 seconds.
4. Reconnect battery cables to terminals.
5. Turn the key the rest of thebway to start position, it will fire and run.
After shutting off it will restart until it times out.
I'm suspecting a can bus or data wire between the FICM and BCM has open circuit.
This problem has been put on the back burner for since the fall, I'm about to get back into it. Any lead you can give would be a god send. Tha ks for the video!
you might have a bad catalytic converter, if is start and runs than will shut off after like 10 secound is a catalytic converter, sometime will sputter and smell like rotten eggs
@MrTottanham there is no converter. That can be the case on a gas vehicle when it gets hot and melts.
somewhat of the same problem? my g35x wont start, pushing the push start just turns on my dash lights/accessories as they flicker. cant turn the car off unless i disconnect battery

Why didn't they just make it part of the ecm
That would make it too efficient. Part of an engineer's job is to overthink and overcomplicate everything so that the more moving parts involved, the greater the likelihood of failure.
Can a faulty bcm also be the problem for trunk not opening?
