What is a Body Control Module?
The body control module (BCM) monitors and controls electronics located in the body of the vehicle. This includes power windows, power mirrors, AC system, immobilizer system, central locking, lights, horn, wipers, and more. The BCM also communicates with other on-board computer modules such as the ECM.

I just found out about the BCM after buying and replacing a Tail light/ Brake light assembly just to have it do the same thing. My car had all those symptoms but I didn't understand how. Thank you for this video bro!

Very good video, almost all the lights and gauges on my dash either came on or stopped working all together. Spent the day just chasing wires and checking fuses but this sounds like the answer to my problem. Thanks!
Yep, having one ordered today. 2006 mazda 6 while lights is on if i use right or left turn signals the hazards come on! If i turn lights off the turn signals work like their supposed to. Also if i lock my doors with the key fob the hazards come on. My mechanic has one on the way. Just hopefully it won't need reprogrammed which will cost more. Fingers crossed.
2013 ram 1500 sport. All of those issues you talked about in your video. The truck wouldn't shut off so we unhooked to battery and after hooking it back up, pretty much no power to anything but the cab light, the side mirrors have power, the push start says off, headlights, tail lights, but no dash lights or power. If this is replaced, does it have to be programmed by a shop or dealer?

Could a bad BCM make my air conditioner and radio go super loud every time I turn the key? Also can it make a brand new battery turn into a dead cell? I've gone through 3 new ones

I replaced my bcm in 2019 ,now on 2024 same symptoms again,dim lights, all of my ground wires are tight,plus battery cables,when I put in park turn off engine,the speakers pop, sounds like bcm again,plus sluggish going up hill,at 55mpg plus,have new transportation 6 speed gmc 2500hd 6.0,
Would it cause the vehicle (04 tahoe) to loose power for a split second and or lock and unlock doors while driving

My bcm on my 19 f350 is getting replaced as I type. Some of the tpm sensors have to be replaced as well. My horn , lights, hazards, tpm, ebrake chime, door locks, tranny module etc started going nuts. $2200 so far. The harness connection had corrosion but it seems to be all right. What a pain in the arse.
I ha e ford focus 2016 they bcm is bad. If bad can it stop turning on?
I have 97seville the dashboard lights go on for a couple minutes gos off and the fuses are good

My 04 GMC Yukon has randomly exhibited the following crazy alarms, displays and behaviors: Seatbelts (when all are fastened), Tire Pressure Monitor, Service Stability Control. Once the key fob stopped unlocking and then was OK. Also the left turn signal was freezing without flashing and coming on (solid) with brake pedal. AutoZone read the following fail codes: C0196 Yaw Rate Circuit Malfunction and C0455 Steering Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction. Does all this sound like the BCM is the likely culprit? And if so, does a replacement have to be programmed by a dealer?

Great information! I am having a problem with an 06 300C 5.7l. My headlights turn on for a second, and relay cuts both off.is that a bad bcm? No blown fuses.
Do controller radio cause my Bluetooth keep malfunctioning I reboot the computer system by remove the battery panel turn my light on Ronaldo electrical current into it and reconnected my radio started work and when I drive to work, it stopped no more Bluetooth just cut the hell off
Good stuff, My alarm keeps telling me my trunk is open but the dash doesn't indicate it is, So the alarm triggers every 30 mins. "New Alarm" Did same thing with old alarm and Also draining battery like it did with old alarm. Lights used to flicker a while back all dash lights, AC would stop working, just weird stuff but I think that was caused by a bad alternator, I have since replaced the Alternator, New battery, Cleaned battery ground cable, cleaned alternator ground cable. The only weird stuff happening is some doors won't close and sometime they will. The the trunk open is triggering my alarm and draining my batter. So I am wondering if it could also be a bad Actuator on a door or even the power trunk mechanism?
I had a friend run a computer scan and check the BCM for errors he said it all came back clear. :o/
I will take a look at the ground in the BCM and also take out the bcm and smell it. I should not have to program the bcm if i remove it? all I would have to do is Remove the ground from the battery before unplugging it for inspection?

Would this bcm possibly control the truck releasing? I can open it manually but not with the release on the truck, the left side of steering wheel, my remote or nothing! I've checked the wmswitch to in tge glove box! I know about that one! Any thing???

It's possible, but usually, when the BCM is bad, there are multiple issues.
With the key out, I can still turn on the wipers, roll down windows, the headlights stay on, etc… So the battery draws a ton of power and will be dead in an hour or so. The dealer says I can’t get a new bcm and my vehicle rejected the salvage one I brought in. Now what????
The BCM has to be programmed
I have 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 it shows all the signs you have described in your video of Bad BCM bought new one from Chevy dealership an asked them to program new one to truck they said had no communication to it my fuse box on passenger side has no power to it checked all fuses seem good need help is dealership just trying to get more money out of me

I have a 2015 Camaro that the radio cuts out the dash board light go on and off my blinkers have issues. So should I check the BCM or maybe the fuse?

I am having all of those problem that you’re talking about. My headlight not bright even when I change the bulb, my headlight an My car key fob is not working my radio Bluetooth stop working and when I scan the car and it said BCM 3 fault
I suspect a bad BCM on my 2015 Q50 I see people on ebay selling the BCM and ECM as a pair with the matching Key Fob would I be able to replace both and not need to program anything ? I am assuming the car would not know the difference as long as they are both replaced with a matching set. Thoughts?
Replacing computer modules varies and depends on the vehicle and the module software. Sometimes it is a simple swap out other times it will need a software update/programed. It is best to research the information case by case.
Any idea if a used BCM replacement will change the mileage on the car?

i did not as of yet.. i took out some fuses from the car that are associated with the radio and checked them and put them back and the radio started working intermittently and then just totally went out (the fuses was not damaged) i think when i Bring my car to mazda for an oil change ill have to them diagnose it.. @@ScottSizemoreTX
