The reality is, a vast majority of school districts are trying to ensure that ZERO children miss out on the services THEY need to reach their excellence.
Most accommodations that children with special needs receive, can be done in an online environment. From one-on-one assistance, to speech therapy, and even many forms of occupational therapy!
However, there are some circumstances where an individual child may not be able to properly participate in a virtual classroom setting.
Too many people automatically think that because a child struggles to maintain their focus in an online classroom of 10 students or more... means they cannot effectively handle online instruction.
    This is simply not true!
Many children THRIVE in online settings when the instruction is one-on-one and designed for their specific learning style.
    We have proven that!
This video describes what does work, and what doesn't work in a virtual classroom!

I can not beleive who would even dare give thumbs down, as a parent with a child with special needs, I have been through it all, heard it all from the lack of empathy, to the critisism from and lack of understanding from school, teachers, ect. I will never stop trying for mi kiddo, i keep the ball rolling in the schools, writting emails, communication with the school region, and of course i have heard it all from the school boards telling me i have to follow protocal, example: contact teacher, assistant principal, then the principal last I end up calling the schoolboard who directs me to the school region and i did, and guess to who i escalated to the Director of the school board who told his assistant to contact me and the school, I finally got the school region to talk to the school principal. Wow! what a fusterating mission.
One of the teachers was ignoring my text till i got to speak to all the people mentioned above and not only that, the teacher told the assistant principal by a Zoom meeting where my sons therapist was there, asst. Principal and me, teacher said she did not want me to text her or to call her and she was already aware of my sons learning disabiliy. should i be upset? and till today know my son has a subsitute covering the teacher whos lack of comunication started all this issue, which the sub teacher is just bombarding all kids with work, which my son is affected to the point i had to request another meeting with the Principal, ese teacher and sub teacher. Unbeleivable! Yes! then us the parents are looked at differently, like a complainer trying to get someone in trouble. I understand all this situation with Covid 19, but it all come out to be, a very "big" lack of communication from school to parent and it still is. So what do i do? Im looking like the "bad guy"and all i am doing is fighting for my sons rights. What do I do? Or maybe i will contact Help me Howard....just being a little sarcastic!
