It would be fun to see a comparison of gravel vs. road tire with Wyatt on your test course.

Love these videos. Rally is such an underrepresented motorsport on my feed.

Nice to have Tim on these videos

I'd rather tarmac tires with predictable slide on a bit of gravel, than my expensive gravel tires on tarmac, given the choice. But I'll run anything if required.

I really enjoy tarmac tires on dirt it makes my stock Volvo 240 feel like it has unlimited horsepower, I’ve also never tried tally tires so idrk

You can still slide a stock redblock volvo all day on dirt/gravel tires, just gives ya a bit better cornering and a lil more bite out of them. Not to mention better at getting out of fields and ditches. That said, in some areas people have found snow or ice (studless vs studdable typically) tires to be the best at sucking less at both with enough tread for dirt and decent traction on tarmac.

Hey, even the Rally1 WRC boyz have to muscle/hustle their softer, long travel gravel suspensions and squirmy gravel tires around on tarmac sometimes, like on last week's Rally Portugal's (2?) and yes REALLY short distance, tarmac Super Special stages. 😉🏁
That fully paved Mary Hill Stage is about as close as you are EVER going to get to Irish Tarmac rallying in 'murica.
Yeah, if I had the opportunity to compete on that, I would've wanted full on tarmac wheels and tires, albeit yes, there is only so much more fun it would've been while still on soft, floppy gravel suspensions.

Glad to know we weren't the only ones who looped it on the grass corner

Depends on the driver and the track. Sounds like these guys need to actually practice more. I know how all my tires work on and off tarmac. Being afraid because you have not used different tires is 100% a driver training issue. Only driving your car at races is a good way to be unprepared, always.

The Irish boys just keep the slicks on!

If I am driving a AWD or RWD car on tarmac and can only change two tires, would it still be better to change out the front ones? My thinking is that having steering and braking grip is more important than putting down power, or would it be better to do the opposite? Thanks.
