Thanks for this video! I used compressed air and the engine was full of dust - now it works fine!
Because of that, I would strongly advice against spraying WD-40 inside the engine. It will work The first couple of times but the dust will get stuck inside the engine due to the oil.

I took mine apart and cleaned it out by using q-tips to wipe out all the dust then I unhooked the motor and sprayed a good amount of plastic safe electronics cleaner CRC QD cleaner. Then I put 1-drop of sewing machine oil very thin at each end of the motor and put back together it works like it should. When spraying the cleaner into the motor cleaner it came back out very dirty. I suspect this is why it shut off. The magnets will attract metal dust. They should have a fine mesh over the vent openings to prevent this.

I just got a hand held dremel. I am about to use wd40 like you did. I have only had it for a couple days and then it started stopping after 5 seconds no what what speed setting I had it on. And it also got super hot like yours did. So annoying.I hope the lube helps it.

I cringed when i heard the infamous words WD-40 in your motor. Unless you want your insulation breaking down and causing shorts sure go right ahead. WD-40 is nit not a magical elixir to be used on something that doesn't work. Smh use a silicone based or if its a brushed motor s mineral based lubricant people.

That's the other thing. I hardly ever use WD40. It is not a fix for everything that moves or should move. I mostly reach for silicon spray lubricant. It is not conductive, sticks to metal better than WD40 and does not interact negatively with metals or plastic. Also, a contact cleaner is a good first start. It evaporates after cleaning. That or compressed air. WD40 isn't in my flight path when in the workshop. Americans seem to think WD40 is the bees knees, go-to lubricant when it aint. I would use it for releasing tight bolt nuts and a quick squirt on the kids pedal toy axles and that's about it.

Hi just watched your Dremel fix. Had the same problem - it worked for a few seconds stopped & the lights flashed.
I watched your video very closely and noticed that at one stage even with the sides off the machine, it worked intermittently. Then you pulled out the battery at a awkward angle wrenching it slightly. The machine then worked.
I concluded that the battery terminals inside the Dremel were not connecting properly.
So I decided to remove the battery, bent the internal terminals ever so slightly and now the Dremel is working fine.
I hope this is useful as the do seem well made.

You push the motor too hard...it's not a chainsaw mate! Go slow and steady listen to the motor with a view to keeping the revolutions up while still cutting. Let the blade do the work. Don't push it into the job so hard. Bogging the motor down will damage your Dremel. It uses more power and overheats the electronics and motor assembly. Remember you stick moisture inside oyu motor and work material dust will accumulate inside the motor. Dry it has to be. The bearings in my 8220 brushless are sealed for a reason.

I replaced an Dremel multy max 8300 s battery's cause it wouldn't turn on with Samsung 25r I think 3100 mAh and I see it tryna start before n after fully charged battery's they used sanyo 1300 mAh and I seen the 10.8v battery's as original had no chipset and that was disappointing and the original battery power was 6.5v before the disassemble and 9.5 after charge n assembly the new battery or seccondarys sanyo to the new 3100 came up to 12.8v and still didn't power I resolder the joints re tin like and I check the motor on PC power supply around it works the connections are fine so idk what's going on tbh seems like it tries to start tho

Had the same thing happening to me today too.. baffled me.. Then I ran the dremel on lower speed and seemed ok. But that was just for today.

i think you may have fully charged the battery then did not use it, this causes chemical reactions that ruin the battery, so you should charge then use, always leave the battery mostly discharged,
but not completley discharge as that may also damage the battery. so 40% charge is ideal.

Hello, sir, is your final repair method to use WD-40 to clean the motor? Looking forward to your reply.
Because of the language, I am not sure whether you replaced the motor or cleaned the motor

Mine did same thing. Do not turn it off at high speed. Turn to lower speed first then turn off. If it does it. Just spin the head by hand and itll start back up no proble.
GOOD NEWS IS it does stop doing that after a bit of use. I forgot mine did that till I seen this video. This is a great dremel. But I found that micro metal dust accumulates on the inside of the motor and eventually it just stops and finding a replacement motor is a pain in my rear end
