- So I saw that the makeup company Eyeko offers a custom or "bespoke" mascara service for your lashes - so I decided we needed to go online, take their quiz, and try out a customized mascara formula of our own! So we got a tube of our own custom formula - for length, definition, and curl with a dash of Korean ~tubing~ technology. What do you think? Are my lashes ~on point~?

Who has a mascara emergency that allows for 90 minutes? That's so specific. An hour and a half is quite a long time to wait if you are having an emergency. And what constutes a mascara emergency? A date? An Oscar party? Couldn't you just stop at any drug store (even 7-11 has mascara now) on the way to the party?
You could be at work or an event and have forgotten to wear mascara...that's all I can think of. Or maybe you have an event after work and don't have time to run home to do your makeup....idk

OR if you’re part of a wedding at you forget it. Usually there’s like 15,000 things to do and it’s too chaotic to leave. And I swear everybody forgets something in their makeup bag when they go to wedding! It’s pretty funny actually, but mascara you can’t exactly share. 😂
Tried the quiz out of curiosity and they seemed to have changed it! Can only choose one answer for each question, meaning it isn't as custom as it was when this video was recorded.
That keeps happening to me each time I take a quiz for one of these custom things. It doesn't aways happen, but it's way too common.

I decided to look now after reading this comment. It was hard to find the quiz, and after taking they very simplified version, it just said the product was out of stock. It didn't even say what it recommended for me. I wonder if they just tried to ditch the whole custom mascara bit.

A powernap is only supposed to be 20 minutes. I usually set a timer for 30-40 minutes depending on how easily I think I can fall asleep in that moment.
try meditating for 5 min before you try to sleep and breathe fully. it really helps me. OR lay down on the floor at the edge of a wall and put your legs up straight against the wall. It sounds weird but it's really calming lol and always makes me so sleepy

Did really no one realise that the "tubing technology: is just the fact that its in a tube (like many korean beauty products) instead of a cylinder. Its to help not waste any product.

The part with the ‘you can get a mascara they already sell for cheaper’, does anyone wonder if they did that on purpose? Like, they knew there’d be some people who would dig for a cheaper mascara similar to their quiz mascara, so they decided ‘waste not, want not’ and made their customized mascara easy to swap with another one of theirs? It’d get them more customers, and more likely happier ones who spent less but got what they wanted, or got close.

Let me fix your problem with hitting yourself with the wand: Hold a mirror below your nose, look down, and coat your lashes that way, and get a smaller brush. These tips changed my life, because I had this problem ALLLLLL the time.

2. Eyeko used to be a british drugstore brand where pretty much everything cost £3 each & they had anime characters on the packaging. I don’t understand the rebrand.

Safiya, although I highly doubt ur gonna ever do an onion test again, I just want u to know:
The reason we tear up when we cut onions is not the eye exposure, its the nose exposure. You should've held a cut onion to ur nose and just smelled it a bit and then the stream would flow lol. but yeah fun fact for everyone! ALSO LIFE HACK: If you wanna avoid tears and stinging while cutting onions, don't cover ur eyes, cover ur nose and/or just breathe through ur mouth!
that is a half-true, the big reason we cry tho it's because the onion contains a little of sulfur gas, which reacts to the water in your eyes when you cut it, causing the irritation. it probably reacts to the moist inside the nose too, but covering it won't help

Safiya, the Black Magic Mascara has the exact same formula as the SN mascara. They sold you their black magic mascara for 18 dollars more in order to "customize" it and slap your initials on with some stickers.

I think the "customization" part of these Mascaras is that they use one of the formulas they already have and combine it with the brush you prefer. E.g. I read in some of the reviews on the website that they were super happy with the formula but didn't like the brush. So this way you can (hopefully) get both perfectly the way you prefer it. It's just a bit stupid that it's depending on the choices you make in the "quiz" and definitely a bit overprized to have someone pack a tube and a brush that you selected...

Honestly if you find a really good mascara that’s inexpensive, you’re not missing much. Mascaras are one of those things in makeup land where it’s all basically the same. It’s definitely not something you need to spend a lot of money on. If you have a really good one for $10 then I promise you’re not missing anything from a $40 mascara. I personally love the Heroine mascara and it’s like $12. And with mascara since it’s a creamy formula and it’s going in direct contact with your eyes, it’s definitely something you’d switch out every few months at least so you don’t get any infections. So what’s the point in dropping a lot of money on mascara when a cheaper brand will be just as good as an expensive one and you have to switch it out often? This was definitely a fun experiment but I’m just throwing out there that mascara is not something you need to spend more to get more. It goes for gel liner too

As a makeup artist I can tell you that really there are only 2 types of mascara: waterproof and nom-waterproof. It’s all about the brushes you use!

I got a blue mini tube of EyeCo Lash Alert in my Ipsy a few years ago and I LOVED IT! At first I was thrown off by the squeezy tube but then I grew to love it 😅

A slight curl to your lashes helps with the spidery lashes and unruliness you deal with! You can also get an eyebrow grooming kit from dollar general and use the little comb it comes with to help comb out curly lashes. This video was super interesting! 💖😘

MellowJelly Well, it's like being fitted for a bra. Most people wear the wrong size and its a bit difficult to tell from company to company (as well as yourself) what's going to fit you properly in every/most way(s). It is actually quite difficult to find mascaras that work for you and what you want, this site makes it sooo much easier.

$44 is way too much for any mascara customized or not.
I’m super late but this mascara is the BEST. I have a travel size that has lasted me about a year now and I’ve used it maybe 3 times a week. It never clumps on me and really helps my lashes look longer!
I love their eyeliner!!!

She was wayyy too nice about this. Everything from the formulas looking the same, charging $20 more just for formulas they already have made, to making you pay an extra $4 for Walmart stickers when they call it 'engraved' just proves that this is all a huge scam.

Eyeko is a pretty legitimate company, it is much more popular in other countries so I can see how in the states it might seem more like a "scam". I can notice a distinct difference in the look of both eyes- and to be fair, I'd say they both did pretty much what she selected for them to do (maybe a bit more volume in the second one would have been better).
I'd call it a "gimmick" rather than a "scam". And they call it "monogrammed" not "engraved"- monogrammed is literally just the process of putting initials on something, so it's really not a lie. If someone expected some sort of fancy embossing for 4 bucks that's kind of their own fault

Yeah, I agree. I've noticed she's a liiiittle too nice about stuff like this, and she should really call these scammy companies out more. Regardless of whether this is a popular/known company in other countries, this particular situation seems like a serious ripoff. Not enough of a difference between the "customized" mascara results, those monogram stickers would have really pissed me off, and the tube in general just seems too cheap for something that expensive.
Araña Discoteca All of eyekos mascras come in tubes like that- (its great for travel and allows you to get all the product out of the tube), her mascara does look different on both eyes (mascara in general really doesn't look that different unless youre up close) and a product being a bit overpriced for what it is =/= a scam. Obviously noone is hand mixing a mascara just for each person, but only an idiot would believe that would be the case anyway. Being able to choose your mascara brush is pretty neat, too, especially if you're fussy about that sort of thing.

I have thicker lashes, really recommend looking for lengthening mascaras because their applicators are really good!! fav mascara by far is revlon coconut mascara, if your lashes get clumpy very fast look up the type of applicator it uses and search for mascaras with similar type
