    Hahaha...Courtney, I am a metal artist and I walk old railroad tracks looking for nice old railroad spikes that I weld together to make ornate crosses with...One day while driving across an old railroad crossing I spotted a bunch of railroad spikes about 10' off the road. I pulled over and (in my crocs) walked to gather them...about 5ft away from them I indeed stepped on a 2" rusty nail that completely stabbed into my heel. I screamed in pain and had to "un-stab" the nail from my foot...I always wear wear boots at work and I was SO PISSED at myself for just jumping out while wearing my crocs. It was a very painful experience and healing took forever with a doctor visit to clean the puncture....so yeah guys, LEAVE THE CROCS AT HOME!!

    Well, I feel a lot better about the state of my footwear now. I 1000% agree on all of the shoes you said not to wear, especially crocs. I have sneakers for the gym or casual wear, vans for longboarding or casual wear (vans are actually great for doing roofing too, they're light weight and have great grip on roof shingles), heavy steel toe work boots for when I'm remodeling homes, hiking boots for (you guessed it) hiking/camping, and a nice pair of (slightly) pointed dress shoes for more formal events.

    7:00 Funny how women don't like what is healthy. Square toe shoes and shoes with wide toe boxes such as Barefoot shoes are really good for your feet because they allow for your toes to spread out. This in turn can prevent a whole host of ankle, knee and hip issues from arising. Why does look have to be more important than functionality especially when it comes to health? I would sy sod what women think I will do what is healthy for me.

    • @harlanjackson6112
      @harlanjackson6112 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Shoe design has developed over centuries, when we used horses for transportation. Meaning they are narrow to the toe for ease to kick in to stirrups. We just gotta get away from that.

    • @XxKINGatLIFExX
      @XxKINGatLIFExX Před 2 měsíci

      @@harlanjackson6112 Yes exactly. However, it is a relic that still exists in the psyche of women. At one point it showed status to have these kinds of shoes because it showed that you could ride a horse.
      However, our ancestors were not smart enough to realise that it screwed up your feet, knees, hips and posture.
      We need to try to brainwash women again to believe that barefoot shoes are a status symbol. Then we can have our health as men with the attraction of women.

    I find Hey Dude shoes to be the PERFECT summertime shoe to wear in the urban Arizona desert heat. I don't wear socks when temperatures are in the triple digits and the Hey Dude shoes are light-weight and they breath well, thus keeping my feet cooler than if I were to wear athletic/tennis shoes. The casual look also goes well with the laid-back urban western lifestyle. By the way, white tennis shoes paired with anything other than athletic shorts make you look like an escaped senior citizen from an old-folks home . . . I don't care what age you are . . . white athletic shoes with pants looks childish or old and decrepit.
    I also wear nice leather flip-flops made by Olukai (Hawaiian), but only when wearing shorts. Of course, when outside the urban environments, sturdy outdoor shoes are necessary for the desert southwest. Cowboy boots are still very common and functional.

    For dress, I go with "Johnston & Murphy Hawthorn Cap Toe." Buy them big, so you can put a thick insert in them. Not too expensive, so you can buy a second pair to change them at noon, or every other day to let the leather dry. And I bring them, even if brand new, to a shoe repair store and have a non slippery pad glued on the bottom, heal and sole. This also prevents the main part of the shoe from damage. Leather soles are slippery and wear out quick.

I intend to purchase some Weejun's from GH Bass, some Oxford shoes (unsure if I will go for wholecut or captoe), brogue derbies and likely some Chelsea boots and Chukka suede boots for the colder seasons. I don't mind paying an extra if I know it will last me a long time with maintenance. That's how I purchased my kitchen tools, mattresses and other equipment.

I love these boots! They do make everything I wear with them feel elevated. I even wore them with a printed tshirt to the Daytona Rolex 24 hour race a few weeks ago. They're comfortable enough now that they are broken in that I can walk all day in them without issues. I can't say that about my Koio leather sneakers unfortunately and I don't believe they can break in more than they already are. I would LOVE a pair of Nick's boots. Probably in natural leather. I just imagine those would patina so nicely. If I had the money I might like a pair of Viberg service boots in black maybe idk. I got sucked into the boot thing too a while back. I picked up some Rokker motorcycle boots and it started a bit of a boot fetish or something idk.

    This was fun. I'm a dog trainer/Upland Bird Hunter and high quality, Thinsulite/ Gore-Tex lined 10 inch tall Danners or Red Wing Elk Tracker Boots are essential equipment for me. I use a small stainless cooking pot to melt the boot oil I use, and gob it on with a paint brush before rubbing it into the leather. Always use Kevlar Bootlaces. After a day in the field I use a Noma or Thermanator Boot Dryer to gently dry the boots out from the inside out. Chasing Pheasants often means marshy conditions and of course, soaking wet morning dew and later, snow and ice. And of course, always keep some terry cloth towels in the truck to dry your dog off and keep her nice and warm in the truck cab, and naturally if it's cold at night she sleeps under the covers right next to me. Anybody who has ever been around a real hunting dog knows what I'm talking about. Spoiled rotten.

Being in NEO and going to walk in the metroparks these shoes have held up well and are not horrible looking with flannel shirts, jeans, and a jacket and even when worn with khaki pants and a dress shirt still look reasonably fashionable. This is a case of function over form but as well as they perform they also in my opinion look relatively good. I'm taking your advice and fashion critics with good heart, I've always been sloppy and indecisive when it comes to clothing.
    (there is also so much junk/bad taste out there that finding what we like is tedious)
    I do love the stuff people in high altitude wear because it is very practical oriented and rugged but the comfort takes a hit.
    Fashion stuff feels shallow and expensive but somewhere there is a balance to find.
    Thanks to your previous video on clothing I decided to get my first costume, they are less expensive that I though and makes for great upgrades that feel good but I needed the shoes to match. Not being very social these days I'm still not sure how I will feel bringing some attention from the style shift, at least I'm not afraid to try and it's about time to give it a shot.
    There is however one thing I know for sure, when it comes to my fav sport the choice of shoes is the most important of all the items.. our health depends on it.

I started a conversation and then asked their opinion about my style. One of the ladies pointed at my shoes and said they were not nice. That was a shocker because until that point I always chose shoes based on convenience and utility and did not imagine that anyone notices them. When I finally met the Italian friend I was awaiting for, I told him what just happened, and he agreed that my shoes were not nice. I was like, dude why you never told me! I told the story to my colleagues too and they confirmed. That was quite a realisation! I always pay attention to the shoes I wear from now on especially when going out. Real Men™ wear shoes that meet their needs in any given situation, and they don't care what shoes CZcams videos tell them to wear. Also, "arch support" is a myth; your arches are supported by the muscle tone in your calves, where the muscles that bend your toes and curl your feet are located. Wearing shoes without "arch support" forces those muscles to strengthen, which is what's supposed to happen. Square-tored dress shoes look fine and are vastly more comfortable than pointed-toed dress shoes are, which any woman can also tell you. I would never want a woman to wear dress shoes that mangle her toes the way pointed-toed high heels do, and I won't do the same to my feet either. Oh, and I owned a pair of Clarks padded leather sandals with straps back in the day, and they were SUPER comfortable on hot days. And yes, I wore them with socks, to keep my feet clean while still having much better ventilation than sneakers. No I don't care about the stereotype. They made my feet happy. That being said, I do like your videos in general. This is just one specific video that doesn't need to exist.

    Interesting. Now, can you make a video about shoes grown women shouldn't wear? Because I've seen some women wear shoes that don't look good at all. However, most men are unlikely to point that out to a woman because it seems to me that women also get a free pass regarding what they wear.

    Designer shoes are often like designer watches. You're paying for the logo. These aren't shoemaking companies.
    I have long narrow feet, 13B or sometimes A. I am willing to spend on Allen Edmunds or Alden. Those companies manufacture shoes.
    I often wear Allen Edmunds Daltons in Chili colored shell cordovan. I paid some serious coin for them. They hold a shine,, are durable and they fit properly. In addition, they are appropriate to my work.

    Most of my shoes are “form follows function.” I wear Salomon hiking shoes for every day. Since they are pricey I don’t do walks in them- hikes in nature yes, but for pavement I use running shoes. For business casual I wear topsiders (which I wore when they were all the rage and actually used for boating in the early 80’s) and for semi formal I have a pair of brown wingtips custom made while I was in the Middle East. I don’t like buying clothes so I go with timeless and avoid fads.

    Rebuttal time for the squared toe dress shoe. They may be designed for an older person where the big toe been shifted inward due to the effect of arthritis in the feet. The dress shoes you describe chop off a part of the dress shoe and crunch the toes, and a little more room is needed. The shoes you describe force the big toe inward and improper toe alignment.😮

    I agree with your video with respect to gun sole shoes. As fare as I’m concern “dress sneakers” is an oxymoron. When you talked about impractical headwear, I’m assuming you are not Gucci horsebit loafers. They are a classic and definitely don’t look cheep. I also agree with you as to luxury design brands. A good quality shoe will last. I’ve always worn Churche’s shoes and I have some that are over 30 years old and they still look like new.

    I remember first seeing Crocs in the movie “Idiocracy”. I found out later that the director wanted something “futuristic but stupid looking” for the characters to wear and he found something called Crocs. He thought they were so ridiculous looking that no one would ever really wear them. Little did he know how wrong he was!
    But full disclosure: I have a pair that I use when working around my pool (vacuuming it, cleaning skimmer baskets, etc.) because it’s exactly as she said about them being easy to put on/off and good around water. But I’d never wear them anywhere else except for in my backyard.

    I have a sneaking suspicion we have a very different outlook on shoes. My view on shoes is the same as my view on watches or cars... use what suits the purpose. For instance if I'm going trail hiking I wear Altra trail running shoes, but if I'm going backwoods hiking I'm wearing a boot. In either of those cases the watch I'm wearing is either my G Shock or my Hamilton Field Khaki. Here's why... they work in those environments. Honestly, unless I need to wear a suit or I'm out on a boat I'm probably wearing a Field Khaki. If I'm wearing a suit I wear Oxfords and a dress watch. If I'm on a boat I wear shoes appropriate to the type of boat I'm on and a dive watch rated at 300 meters. PS my absolute pinnacle of shoe to wear around the inside of the house clicks not one but two of your no go shoes... Crocks flip flops. They sit right inside the door so when I get home I can take off my outside shoes and slip them on. Are the ugly? Yes, they are. But, they're insanely light and comfortable, and they last forever with indoor use. Slippers and house shoes only last me four to six months before they need to be replaced. My ugly "Crocks flops" last much longer. I'm on only my second pair since 2009.

All shoes I wear reflect all of the real meaningful modes of my life: high end running shoes from my Ironman background at play, the highly polished leather wingtip from my “power” career, the roper/cowboy boot and a collection of rodeo trophy belts/buckles which represents my heritage, and the soft soled leather business casuals which I often wear on Fridays. Everything is stylish, but real. No costumed/themed shoes that project fakery.
