When I was in my 20s I absolutely loved high heels snd still have them but Im slowly going thru them and parting ways with them.. Im 47 now.. while I think they are still beautiful.. Ive turned to chunky heels, loafers.. lol. I have to be able to walk a distance! If I were to turn to heels again.. I draw the line at 2.5 in maybe 3..
Fair enough too. I actually did the same thing with heels. When I'd part with a pair I'd replace them with something different and generally fairly flat. In fact I think that's when my sneaker addiction started lol x
I don't see how clogs or the furry Uggs are a practical option for wet and snowy weather.
They can be, they make the kind of water proof, but I dont know.
I rather have comfort. No high heels since 2019.😊

I agree with avoiding high heels and I will add- especially pointed toes. They're not just uncomfortable but also ruin the shape of the feet. And the spine. So ladies, save them for special occasions.

Those Doc Marten clogs are really cute and especially the ones with the strap on the back. My feet slip out of backless footwear when I'm wearing socks which is most of the time. I look for something with a back strap.
As for heels, I've never loved high heels as they have never been comfortable. But, I remember my first pair of kitten heels back in the mid-1970s and I wore them until they had worn out. They were the heels that I wore when I needed a heeled shoe to wear to an event or occasion if I was really dressed up. And they worked well in situations where a sandal might not have been as appropriate for the event or occasion. Plus, I could stand in kitten heels for a long period of time.

My old saying is “shoes set the tone of the outfit”. Nowadays, most people wear scruffy sneakers with everything, but I still feel my best in a pair of good leather shoes or boots, with mid-heels (I’m petite). During most of my previous fashion life, we didn’t mix casual and more dressy items, this is the biggest change I’ve seen in fashion in fifty years. We didn’t wear silk blouses or heels with jeans, for example, and only tees and sneakers or hiking boots, nor silk skirts with sneakers and tees. I welcome the new flexibility, but still don’t like how I look in sneakers with my skirts and dresses, which I wear most days, year-round, for comfort. Plus, I love a bit of extra height, say 2-2.5 inches, if the shoes are comfy.

32 here and have been loving kitten heels this last year. I love the comfort and feel more elevated with the pointed toe. I just love my feet and not willing to put them through the pain of anything over 2.5 inches.

Definitely prefer a slimline loafer over a chunky one for me but avoid buying with hardware as it gets ruined so quickly. I've a pair of slimline ones without the hardware and they are so elegant ❤
I agree 100% and was kind of shocked that she wasn’t suggesting the slimline option for longevity. I agree the hardware can cheapen them, but without that I think a slim loafer has more staying power.
@@karenhanson359 100% I am not a fan of the chunky shoes that have been about in general as for me they just don't work for my wardrobe whatsoever (I dress quite feminine) so slimline loafers all the way!!

I’ve been trying to get into the second-hand/thrift in kitten heels.. I just love Matilda Djerfs style! but I think it’s also because she’s so beautiful and young! Some of her outfits I’d wonder if I’d look as stylish.. or for eg. How some one above 40 could wear her style? she wears a lot of beautiful open shirts, tie front tops etc w nothing underneath.. I have those exact Doc Martens. Had to run about a mile at Osaka airport in them. Put the sling back up and made the connect. Very comfortable and well worth the purchase!

This is a matter of HER personal choice. Platform loafers are a trend. Low heel loafers have been around forever. High heels will never go out, and she is spot on about low heel slingbacks.

Agree with you. Tho dancing for long hours in the highest of heels in my twenties was dreamy, not so much now that I’m 70 plus. Not happy about it but so glad kitten heels are in!

@Thestyleinsider. I am also in my 70s and have been wearing kitten heels for years. In fact, I bought two pairs of knee-high boots in 2022 that have kitten heels! Actually, I bought them during a Nordstrom anniversary sale. Apparently they knew back then that they would still be in style!
I had to pause to comment.. i love slip on clogs.. i was wearing some yesterday w socks and so cozy.. and yes to kitten heels.. i think they are so sophisticated in a quiet way.. ive worn stilettos for years.. im 53 and transitioning away from heels to more comfortable but still stylish options suitable for my lifestyle.

I love this video, it’s got great information but I don’t like the idea of feeling the need to find something practical. Useful is great but “swapping out” slouchy boots for mini heel boots or swapping Ugg’s for slip on clogs is just silly because they are completely different shoes! I would just say here’s all the trends and someone likes them instead of here is a “better option”.

Last time I remember kitten heels being in was late 80’s early nineties. Yes they were comfortable. You and I know they’ll switch up the fashion within the year so I haven’t bought a pair lol. But then I dont dress up very often😘 you look lovely in the white💜

Agreed some things update and some do not and knowing a good cobbler to keep shoes fresh is so helpful. I find the shoes to avoid are those who crunch foot/toe and nails. Our 50 year old self with be thankful. So many women have bent toes/nails, knee/hip/back issues due to shoe choice and there are now brands that take that into consideration. I agree regarding the heels and I even appreciate a good platform heel or wedge but speaking with an orthopedic and focusing on my long term fitness it is easier to make that choice. Also if you've even needed to run or tore a heel off. Wonder if I can get a platform added to my loafers? I usually remove the hardware.

Uggs in UK is a bad idea as winters are wet. Those slip-on clogs also, you will get water sloshing in it😅

Thanks for the review! Even though chunky loafers aren't as popular right now, I find them to be more practical too. The key is to choose a platform that isn't too huge, but still a bit solid.
