    Downplaying usyks achievements at every opportunity. Amateur world champ, Olympic gold, undisputed cruiserweight and if he wins undisputed heavyweight, beating aj and fury within 6 fights. How would he not be an all time great?

    • @blaizecunningham6080
      @blaizecunningham6080 Před 27 dny +3

      Well, to be fair if he does do that then he can start to be spoken about like that, and if he can replicate that same success for the next 6 fights after that, then he will be an all time great. Everyone is just too keen to start throwing labels around. The greats have legacies of 10+ defences, no one in the division is there yet so let's not start creating shortcuts to greatness. The greats don't just win a fight to get to the top, they also stay there for years. That's what makes them great.

      @blaizecunningham6080 Před 27 dny +2

      @@dazg7405 totally agree. But 19 fights does not equate to greatness. There's no one in the heavyweight division that has the resume to be considered great just yet. They are good, they are the best right now, but they are not all time greats, any of them. There is this desperate need to crown an "all time great" the heavyweight division from this era that is currently boxing, the problem is because of ego, poor business practices and outright greed, it's slim pickings coz no one is there yet and all of them are half a dozen fights away from even being considered somewhat great, let alone "all time". Usyk at least has a track record of just going out and doing it, so if any of those guys can get to 10+ successful defences against the best out there right now, it's him. But he's not there yet. 3 heavyweight title fights is miles away, Tyson is double that and he's nowhere near either. It's not about the number, it's about accepting and then winning the fights. All of the greats turned up, they didn't just talk about fights that never happen and they don't win one fight and become the best, it's about consistency across years of top flight competition. None of of them are there yet, and if you were honest you'd agree that being "good" is not enough.
      These are just facts. I'm sorry to say that this generation if heavyweights doesn't have a great yet. It's almost insulting to suggest there is a great here, usyk is a very good fighter but it's the record that is lacking. Years more at the top, and at least another 6 fights. There's definitely still fights out there for him, and as long as that's true he can't be considered great and that is just a cold hard fact.

      @t.d6379 well that's a little hard to watch right now I can only judge his footwork on every other fight that is possible to watch . Most of his fights he gets away with being off balance as he's so rangey and able to control the fight at distance with his double jabs and long looping shots , never the less he's off balance and at times falling around out of control to an extent. The only time that improves slightly is when he trained with SH and had to learn to plant his feet and throw a solid combination, moving across the ring hes still wobbling around all over the place . The same can be said for his so called head movement which adds to the problem as shown in the first wilder fight . He doesn't have the ability to control an opponent purely with footwork he relies on man handling his opponents into position . Some people also say hes fast ... breaking news hes not , hes fast for such a long limbed fighter but not fast compared to smaller lighter men . If he makes improvements for the upcoming fight then great he has it in him physically I'm sure but mentally unstable which effects training and performance as proven in recent fights .Like I said I wouldn't be surprised if either man wins but I'm siding with consistency nothing more , I'm a boxing fan not a fanboy or a hater ...

      Tyson Fury can have amazing footwork and is a great boxer. We just haven't seen that from him for a long time. Every wilder opponent would have been demolished by a 'Just good' British or other European heavyweight

  • @justinneill5003
    @justinneill5003 Před 27 dny +5

    I think they are pinning too much on Fury's size, and crucially they ignore one of Usyk's less talked about assets - his relentless, intense work rate which he can maintain for 12 rounds. Fury likes to occasionally step back and take his foot off the gas between feints and flurries of punches; he will not have that luxury this time. He likes to vary the pace, so being forced to maintain Usyk's pace, with Usyk's speed and accuracy, may unsettle him and give Usyk the opportunity to land scoring punches. They both have great physical stamina, but Usyk also wears down opponents mentally. A lot of excuses have been made for Fury's poor showing vs Ngannou, but in this latest press conference he again insists that he trained hard and was well prepared for that fight; if he didn't have the constant focus and relexes to avoid Ngannou's punches, he will be in trouble with Usyk. Theytalk about Usyk as though he was 5'8" but he is a very solid 6'3" and deceptively strong (he was pshing Joshua back at one point.) He is also very slipery and agile. I do not think that Fury will have much success with trying to lean ont him and may get punished on the break. I'm not dissing Fury, he's a great fighter even though his two big challenges (Klitschko and Wilder I) have been padded out with lesser opponents. But I think a lot of people still don't seem to understand Usyk.

The last heavyweight to do it from 1 to 3 in the 3belt era, the WBO was but a stepchild n barely recognised in the US til probably Bernard Hopkins unified the middleweight belts in 2004, IBF in 95, WBC/WBA in 01 and finally the WBO IN O4.

    Let ne say something on size for a 2nd because its so missed judged by boxing fans and pundits.
    = when a smaller guy is boxing a bigger guy then what he has to do is uses his feet and speed and low center of gravity to take away the hight and reach as the bigger will be slower. Most of the time so if its a boxing match and the bigger just cant pin the smaller guy then it just gets to difficult.
    If its far more of a fight and the old leaning and using your attributes on the inside and wear the smaller guy out if you can catch him enough then thats when the bigger has the advantage.

    Its a 50/50 fight I think, but talksport arent the ones to listen to as they just hype up fury all the time.
    Usyk seems like an afterthought to these ppl.
    Depends who can execute their best assets the best and take control of fight.
    Fury would have to use his size to try and get close to usyk and corner him in ring , to try and stop him moving.
    Usyk will use his fast footwork to evade shots and set up punches.
    Gonna be an interesting fight, if it happens.
    Might go down to a points win either way.
    Who knows with Fury, he might still find a way to pull out of fight.

    I do agree with theres weight classes for a resson but people act like Usyk wasnt a huge cruiserweight. He had to cut weight to get down to cruiser and he only did that bcus he had a dream of copying holyfield and being undisputed in two divisions, he could have easily been a heavyweight from the start of his pro career like he was for 200+ of his 350 amateur fights , david haye, hokyfield, nelseon were all aversge size cruiserweights and small heavyweights, Usyk almost 6'4 and hes 16 stone, that aint that small for a heavyweight. He could add fat to his body and be the same size as dillion whyte, chisora, parker ect, difference is hes lean muscle with no fat at all, to me Usyk isnt a small heavyweight, hes a normal sized heavyweight thats in better condition than most the guys around him who weight more because they all carry more fat than him. When he stands kpposute fury the size difference isnt that much the top of usyks head comes up to furys eyebrows. The more people talk about the size difference the worse its gns look for fury when/if he loses.

      Too much is being made of this height difference, as even if it is 6" that is pretty much the height of a persons forehead. None the less, Usyk is on the smaller side for a modern heavyweight.

      First thing bellew said to radio 5 live in his interview after been ko'd by usyk was you dont realise how big he is until you're in the ring with him. Russ abner said before usyk went to heavyweight that people shouldn't be asking if he is big enough but question how tf he made cruiserweight. Usyk is a unit and in the face off when fury tried to get rough it was fury who got pushed about. Nobody has ever pushed usyk about in a clinch he has always pushed them about,not AJ not chisora,not gassiev nobody and fury wont either

    Fury is not 6 feet 9 inches tall. When you see him in a group gym photo with other big guys, look at his feet. He is on his toes making him look taller. These photos are out there if you look for them. He lies about everything in his life then contradicts that lie with another one a week later

    Can’t compare Joshua with these two, levels below from a boxing perspective. I expect a good fight, Fury needs to rough him up early on so he is gased in the later rounds if he doesn’t spark him. I will say Fury puts Usyk out in 8 it also gives him a full body workout lol. Forget the FN fight, that means nothing. Tyson just tried to trade bombs with him. Cmon TF ✊
