- Hello everyone! in this video I show how to make the clay structure of a cup using the slab building technique (To be able to use it, you must fire it... and glaze it)
This is one of the techniques that I enjoy the most and the one that I find most useful
(the cup is 8 cm high and its walls are 6 mm thick. The circle that I cut for the base has a diameter of 6 cm)
Materials used in this video:
-White low fire clay (1040°)
-Slip
-Water
-Sponge
-Cardboard
-Wooden rolling pin
-6 mm/8 mm thick rods
-Rib
-Needle tool
-Cutter
-Rule
-Brushes
-Spatula
-Plastic letters

*Some general answers:*
-I got the plastic letters at a bakery supply store, originally they are to write on cookies
-The liquid clay is called slip, and it is made of clay + water
- In this video I only show how to make the structure of the cup, in order to drink from it... it must be fired and glazed. Soon I will make a video showing in detail the glaze process!

Thank you...
What clay do you use?
I love this mug! I love it so much I would like to have one just like this… It is a shame I cannot use it or drink from it the way it is as this is the way I like it. Marina, do you have an Insta account or somewhere we can chat? I’d love to have a word or two with you. 🥰
Dónde comprar la arcilla o como buscarla
This is the most aesthetic pottery making video I've ever seen -- very beautiful work, and beautifully filmed!
Thank youuu! ♥
I was thinking the same thing!
You really should watch a video of Florian Gadsby. He makes such beautiful pottery and videos of making it.
I watch this video at least once a day... no joking. love it.
@@UmiCeramics I’m not y y y you 😢n until in not the n un🎉u GB you by
I had never tried pottery before, but I managed to figure out how to make a little cylindrical birdhouse, based on how you made the mug. I'm super chuffed with my first attempt, so thank you for such a clear video.
pottery is a gateway mug.
You'll do great! I believe in you!
Love your confident approach to making mugs, handles have always been my challenge. Thank you.
Love the way you work so clean. When I make pots (admittedly, I throw), I look like I've been dipped in a tub of slip.
I've been sort of binge watching pottery videos the past couple of days. Yours is the nicest of the slab built cups I've seen yet. 👍👍
Thanks for sharing.
This video is sooo so helpful!!! Going to try out these techniques asap. Thank you for sharing
I’m shocked at how neat you are, the work is beautiful!! Thank you so much

This is the most aesthetic and calming video I've ever watch its super clean and satisfying! I Love your videos!! ❤
What an artist!!! It looks like it could come out of a How it's Made episode showing a factory churning out thousands of them in a day.🎊
The slab technique is so much fun when I had done this back in the falls semester of community college/university.
That was a beautiful experience really blew me away. MY MIND HAS BEEN BLOWN
I love your videos, so inspiring and informative :)
Have you tried to “bake” your pottery? Would love to see that.
Of course you do great work, but what caught my attention is; You have very delicate and beautiful hands. He is a very lucky man holding those hands...❤
I absolutely will be trying this at home. Thank you so much for making it.
So relaxing…🧘🏻♀️ I enjoyed this video so much. Beautiful mug by the way. Loved the warmth transmitted by the color palette, the sweater, the nails, the mug, the natural light and the wood…🧡
This is the smoothest cup i've seen without a wheel, amazing job ☆☆
This is fantastic! I'm just starting out with hand-building pottery and this is so inspiring 💕
Thank you!! I'm glad you found this inspiring!! ♥ :')

This is so satisfying!
This is so calming
This is a crazy amount of work for one mug. Huge respect for this kind of patience!
And it's unusable without kiln firing and glazing. $1 at Dollar Tree. 50c at the thrift store
@@Automedon2 I doubt you get quality ceramics like this at dollar tree. That stuff is a cheaper material and factory made. But sure, if you are lucky at a thrift store you can find anything :)
@@avienated quality? LOL
@@Automedon2 everything is relative. I have to doubt you know what you speak of here, but feel free to convince me otherwise.
@@Automedon2 yeah, quality. Post some shit you’re buying at the Dollar store. Let’s see it.
Uma obra de arte
The handle trick blew my mind
Hola Marina!!
Multumesc
The cup looks quite plain to be honest, but the making is so exceptionally beautiful!
Very beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️ Do you use self-drying clay or do you heat it?
Simply unique! Where is it possible to buy the tools you use in your works?
Wooow the way you did handle! Cool! 😀🙊 have to try it
This is amazing, I’m just wondering how much clay u used to make this (grams wise) thank u so much for this wonderful content!!!

Amazing, thanks 😍
I love artists.
I like the sweater....such a warm color.
Amazing… I was looking for something like this 😮
The artwork of this mug is amazing and so satisfying. Wanted to know which colors to use for such mugs and is kiln necessary to have? Or is there any other clay which can work without kiln and makes such mugs?
really impressive quality for buliding with wet slabs ! looks like wheelthrown . also your videography is really nice :)
Thanks a lot for your appreciation! I really love building pieces with wet slabs, and filming as well!
It was ... amazing. Thank you.
That was really cool to watch, thank you 🙂
Is the clay leather hard when you attach the base to the walls, or is it still quite soft? i'm impressed at how smooth the clay is throughout this entire process. I always get little nicks and dents everywhere.
This is what I am wondering
Beautiful work
♥
Love this!
So perfect 😍
this is so helpful, thankyou🤗🥰
very helpful video.
