Really excited by the appointment - Hardwick was overlooked a few times as well despite having success at multiple clubs in his career (Bombers, Port as a player and Hawks as an assistant). Hopefully McQualter will stick around, he's still young (only 37/39? I think) - in life you learn more from your setbacks than your setbacks. As Yze has been overlooked a few times, he's got a bit more life experience, plus reportedly is a great tactician. Our 'Richmond way' of football has struggled the last 2-3 years to recapture the Dynasty years so it's time for some tweaks and a new chapter. As Gale said in the press conference "you live in the past, you die in the present".
I've followed Richmond for over 60 years. Seen some dud coaches. I would have stuck with Mcqualter. Time will tell. I hope Mcqualter coaches at the senior level again. He was doing ok with the players he had available. Who knows what YZE has to offer. I wish him luck and Mcqualter the best of luck and thanks for looking after the team when Dimma left.
Tigers have opted for a clean sweep by getting in an outsider, that's understandable. It doesn't take away from Mini's abilities & achievements. His cause wasn't helped by the team's performances when the season was on the line against Melbourne, Bulldogs & St Kilda. Apparently the club's board was blown away with Yze's presentation.

Dermott is talking nonsense. Yze would not want McQualter in the Club once he commences. Yze would feel his authority would be undermined if the former acting coach was still in the building. Dermott obviously has not worked in the corporate world, where its everyone for themselves.
I'm not sure how to feel about this to be honest.. Preferred Andrew but I will still give him a chance and be open minded about this..

Any Richmond supporter should be happy with this. Mini was solid but change is needed. By all accounts Yze is a very tactical coach which is an area the tiges have lacked this season. Mcqualter has been at the club in various roles for about 10 years.
