in more than one sense it makes sense, since N was not really a ''trainer'' type and Alder was elderly and had kinda decided to retire due to his Partner pokemons apparent death, then N wasent a *seasoned* trainer and Alder had kind ajust given up on the competetive scene, so Cynthia (still being ''young'') and the games likely taking place *after* platinum then its safe to assume that she is strong
