Best Hilux engine ever built even though it's slow and a bit noisy but it is 100 percent reliable than this Vigo and Revo model Hilux engine. The new Hilux are garbage with tons of problems.
Nice sound and clean engine bay of that 3L Hilux...less trouble Diesel engine compare to the modern diesel now...NO high tech and NO high maintanance...and also NO high speed but durable till the last...thats how 3L worked..

Just turn the hub knob to free and truck will only work on RWD 😃. But really gears are stuck mayb. Lift truck see where the problem is. Check linkages. Etc. Not that i am expert 😆.
Voltage regulator? The square looking little box on engine bay? Or the one in alternator? Depends where you are but i would go online to find it. I replaced mine a few months ago. Yes it was digicult finding one. Took it off the truck abd started searching for it online. I was surprised there are many diffrent alternators for this models 😅. Finally i found one in australia. Cost me a fortune. I tried to get it repaired but here in Texas didnt find help at all. Ebay it!

En lo personal Yo me fuera con el 3L porque es diesel, el otro es gasolina. Aqui es bien rraro el toyota diesel. De igual manera el motor gasolina 3Y es bueno tambien. Con toyota nunca se ase una mala compra.

America only got single or extracab versions with gasoline powered 2.4L 22r and 3.0L V6 with IFS suspension not solid axle

No not the 3L, the 2Ls did on 4runner surfs. But this engines can be turbo if you desire.

If you only have 2 options then yes H4 is always and H2 for low speed usage and when mudding 😃.

My alternator on my 89 Hilux went bad and I can’t find a replacement alternator
