Not quite. Ork spores absorb nutrients from the ground and form something like a womb under ground. The ork grows inside that "womb" from the nutrients absorbed by the fungus and when fully matured crawls out. If an ork limb was shot off and is reattached within something like 12 hours (depending on the enviroment) the reattachment will almost certainly be succesful with no complications. If the limb lost was the head though the window for reattachment is much shorter. Only something like 4 hours. If the limb is not reattached within that timeperiod even ork limbs will start to rot away. Of course it's more than likely that the limb is covered with ork spores and as such will serve as excellent fertilizer for a new ork^^

This reminds me of a character in the anime Bungo Stray Dogs. She can completely heal any injury but can only use her powers on someone who is literally an inch away from death so she often has to make the injuries work before she is able to operate. As a result everyone is afraid of her healing treatment.

Do you think that the Blood Raven actually are the Thousand Sons that were not present on Prospero during the Space Wolves attack? I'm pretty convinced myself and I also keep in mind that Magnus never had treachery in mind untill it seemed to be the only hope for his legion to survive. Sending a fleet away before the arrival of Russ would be something to make sure that at least a fraction of his legion keep serving the Emperor if the worst was about to happen or just because he already knew what would happen.
