    Roboute Guilliman: A legion is too much power for a Primarch to possess.
    Also Roboute Guilliman: I’m the Lord Commander of the entire Imperium, so every single Astarte answers to me.

    • @fedupN
      @fedupN Před 5 lety +77

      Time and place. The Legions had to be broken down, Horus' betrayal proved that. It was a move that events like Huron Blackheart's betrayal, when he decided to make himself a new Legion with the best of intentions before going full on Horus Heresy 2 electric boogalo, vindicated.
      Now, in a controlled setting, Guilliman recreated a force to reunite the scattered bits of the Imperium.
      And even then, the structure is not like the Great Crusade days. Command is still delegated to a greater degree and Chapters still have great autonomy. The sheer cluster that is the Imperium at the moment helps that along.
      The primary thing is the executive strength (IE shut up, High Lords, and let's stop power plays for five minutes. Also, Custodes, get out of Dad's house and do something) and reinforcement (these are new guns and guys. We are heading over THERE. Now you are in on the greater strategic picture. Good Luck. Bye.)

    • @Venneroth
      @Venneroth Před 5 lety +36

      @@fedupN That's essentially my point. Guilliman always has sensible ideas, but that has a downside.
      One of the things he got from his dad was an almost autistic inability to see things from other points of view. He doesn't consider how hypocritical he looks. He doesn't consider whether others will hold a grudge against him. He doesn't care that he has more power than even Warmaster Horus . He doesn't care that others might hold sacred the things that he's changing. Hell, during the Scouring, it seems to have genuinely not crossed his mind that maybe the other Primarchs were his peers and therefore had equally valid opinions on what comes next. His opinion truly is the sensible one, so that's what gonna happen.

    • @fedupN
      @fedupN Před 5 lety +35

      @@Venneroth I don't see any hypocrisy. Gather data, change things as needed. Guilliman has been pretty consistent on that front.
      If someone conflates Guilliman as acting like Horus, that is on them. If they are too stunningly idiotic to see the difference in motivation, action, and circumstance between the Heresy and 40k, that is on them.
      Perception does not necessarily equate to reality. Is Guilliman a Warmaster commanding Legions?
      Objectively, no.
      He is in fact splitting his power up but giving the Chapters their own Primaris and not sticking around to command them.
      It's rather like the Lion presuming Guilliman playing Emperor during the Heresy with Secundus. Guilliman wasn't. But he wouldn't cease trying to hold the ideals of the Imperium together because one of his bros had a bad take on things.
      That would be stupid.
      Furthermore, simply because someone has a viewpoint didn't mean it's correct, valid, or worthy of consideration.
      A bad idea is a bad idea.
      Curze might think he was in the right, but two seconds of common Sense and observation mean we can pretty safely say he is Looney Tunes and should not have his ideas and suggestions of flaying pits given weight or merit.
      As for the Scouring, no one else stepped up. Dorn was, in classic Dorn faction, a stone headed fool.
      In short, no. One does not allow the immaturity of ones peers stop things from getting done.

      But doesn't the point still stand that if guilliman got turned to chaos he would literally have enough power to take out the emperor? So that's too much power for one man to hold I thought that was the point. But that being said I know nothing it sounds like you know more than me

    • @fedupN
      @fedupN Před 5 lety +15

      @@bluebuda8170
      Sure, if Guilliman turned that would fall into "very bad times" category.
      What I suppose I'm driving at is that he isn't actually Horus ver. 2.1.5.
      He is nominally at the highest point of command, but in function he isn't acting in the same manner as old Lupercal.
      He isn't aggregating more power or authority to himself. He is actually handing off Primaris forces, supplies, etc to other loyalists, seconding them to their command.
      Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and even the EdgeLord "kill our own guys" Dark Angels (seriously they murder a bunch of Primaris) all received the Primaris and the means to make more.
      And then Guilliman left.
      He directs grand strategy, sets the ball rolling, delegates authority when need like with Dante (who had been chosen as joint commander during 3rd War for Armageddon by unanimous decision so it's a common sense pick with precedent backing it up) and stops stupid things when he sees them (again, looking at you, High Lords) but he is not demanding the fealty of the Chapters other than the usual "if I tell that there is a big honking threat, react accordingly!".
      Yes, some people, like the Flesh Testers who somehow bemoan their inevitable demise AND refuse the means to save themselves at the same time, will whine about how it's changing things and they don't trust the guy.
      These people are also idiots, as example above.
      Side note: check out Wolf Lord Rho on CZcams. A terrific font of lore.

    On a more serious and less potentially lewd note, I think I should draw attention to something about your videos that seems to go largely unmentioned: the quality of the background artwork. The sheer variety you typically present as a backdrop is impressive, even more so considering that I haven’t seen much of it at all in other 40k videos. It just makes me appreciate even more the time, effort and care you put into crafting these videos, that you would spend the time to gather such a myriad of eye candy when it’s entirely possible that many of your viewers don’t even look at the screen while they listen. • @afivey
      @afivey Před rokem

      I don't know. My current uninformed assumption is that whatever development hell power armour was in after Mk 8's launch was a development disconnected from Cawl's power armour developments. They might been expected to be called Mk9 since the project's start even if no progress was made whatsoever, so that separation and predating Cawl's work might offer some explanation.

    What happens if an Astartes needs to raise his hands above his shoulders?

    • @neon-lake
      @neon-lake Před 3 lety

      I want u to try something
      From your side lift your arm side ways without twisting the shoulder. Best I can manage is about 100°-130°
      Now twist your shoulder and u can lift it higher.
      What I'm referring to is the pauldron twists with your shoulder. Looking at this image images.app.goo.gl/aHTJ5L5MycHNDrWo9 it's not hard to imagine astartes are capable of doing that. Though without shoulder twisting they can only manage 90° at best and won't be able to reach as high due to the size of the pauldron getting in the face. As for lifting the arm straight up, so long as the pauldron doesn't overlap the chest plate on the front side it shouldn't be an issue.
      You always use the shoulder twist in motion so I doubt it's so hindering to movement. Take a little getting used to sure.
      I of course am not a armor expert so this only my interpretation and deduction. Some medieval armor have pauldrons with pauldrons so wide the connect to breast plate though not as THICC as with power armor. The restrictions would be comparable though
