    I really liked both of them, but damn these Black Hawks sound so relentless!
    And the neck pickup... THE FUCKIN TESSERACT TONE!

    I'm impressed, I prefer the factory pups. Fantastic riffing my dude!

      The stock pickups are definitely underrated ! Thanks for the feedback dude !

    I liked both. I think BKP's will fit in a mix immediately but Ormsby would need some tweaking.

    The Ormsby pickups sound really good. The Black Hawks are really hot. The Nailbomb would probably sound killer in there also.

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah man totally ! I was looking for something different. Otherwise I would keep the stock ones
      The Nailbomb is my n°1 choice over anything. I was interested in the Black Hawks too and a friend happened to sell his set :)

    Both sound great, but I like the stock Ormsby pickups just a bit more. Like you said they are more ballanced and I also think that the Ormsby pickups have a bit more punch to them

    I've thought about getting a set of these for my Schecter Hellraiser C-7 Passive for quite a while. It was either these or the Lace Deathbucker 7 in the bridge followed by a Lace Alumitone Humbucker in the neck.
    The stock pickups in the guitar i feel aren't anywhere near what i'm trying to get too in terms of the type of tone i'm trying to achieve, and a lot of the tones that i've heard from various CZcams videos where these pickups have been featured have really caught my ear. I'll definitely have to figure out how to get my hands on a set of these pickups and throw them into my Schecter as soon as i get the opportunity.

    Excellent comparatif 👏
    C'est là qu'on se rend compte que les Ormsby se défendent super bien ! Je suis fan du rendu avec les Black Hawks 🔥

      De ouf ! Ils sont carrément au niveau.
      Je suis bien fan du rendu des Black Hawks aussi

    I prefer the stock one. More bite and clarity.

    ormsby for hi gain and bare knuckle for cleans

  • @MarkLePage
    @MarkLePage Před 3 lety +2

    Hot Rock for sure. More treble, less hot, and cleaner. Black Hawk sounded a little woofy in comparison.

  • @DiegoPujolT
    @DiegoPujolT Před 2 lety +2

    Are you by any chance using Acle's presets? That sounded a lot like TesseracT, haha.
    Great job! I've been researching the Black Hawks, but the De la Creme pickup really, really surprised me, especially with the split coil tones!!
    What’s the scale length of your guitar?

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier  Před 2 lety +2

      I'm not using Acle's presets on this. I'm not using a ton of gain though.
      But he is using the Black Hawks as well so that's why It might sound similar.
      The stock pickup sure sound amazing ! And you can order these from Ormsby if you want one.
      The scale is from 25.5 to 27.8

      @@SimonMeunier I’m trying to figure out how to get that metallic, split-coil tone in my 7 string. I have a Strandberg with Fishman Fluences, which are versatile but not quite as aggressive and “quacky” as what yours sound like. The longer scale probably helps, too.
      I’ll get one of those pickups you’re showcasing, great job! Also, what amp/preset are you using? Do you boost any frequency to make it sound like that?

    Hot rocks are among my most preferred pickups ❤️

  • @1banez
    @1banez Před 3 lety

    Both are good in different ways. Hot Rock is more classic and fuller rock tone. Black Hawks totally have that EMGish active voicing but little more aggressive.

  • @Mr.Goldbar
    @Mr.Goldbar Před 2 lety

    One thing though, seems like you wired the splits backwards with the Black Hawks. That will explain the radical change in tone between the split sounds

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier  Před 2 lety +1

      Just realised that 3 days ago when I replaced the push/pull tone. wiith a DPDT switch. Totally wired the bridge split backwards aha
      I have to say that I actually prefer the backward wiring. But yeah my mistake there !

    Excellent comparison, what is your opinion about the Ormsby Nunchuker ?

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier  Před rokem +2

      I would say it is not very far from a Seymour Duncan Pegasus. Ballsier and more hi-fi sounding I must say. The Pegasus is very flat overall

    What pickup plate angle did you have to order with the bareknuckles?

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier  Před rokem

      I took the original ones from the Stock Ormsby pickups and put them on the BareKnuckle Pickups
      I know that BKP offers custom baseplates for Ormsby guitars. You just have to email them or tell them when you order

  • @NewYorkMetalShows
    @NewYorkMetalShows Před 3 lety

    Hey man, great comparison! I have this same 7 string copper top from Ormsby and always wanted to switch pups even though the stock ones sound great. Did the base plates come with your BKP's? Did the guys over at Bare Knuckle have to do any other custom work or did you just switch everything around yourself?

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier  Před 3 lety +1

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier  Před 2 lety +1

      It's all about taste and preference. I like the split tones of the BKP better
      But yeah this really show how good the stock pickups are
