As a Plaid owner I concur. On the parking a Turbo S is better looking and much better finished. On the track it probably handles better. It will surely brake better after a few corners.
But on the autobahn it’s not even close. Driving the Plaid on the autobahn always makes me feel like I’m using cheat codes.
(And since I’m a Tesla owner and therefore a Tesla fan boy and a bad person in general I love cheating. 😂)
Well that is a typical german behaviour, they love to cheat😂.
How is the range at 200km/h+?
@@Sam-wb7uy My personal worst was around 30kWh for 65km in less than 30’.
(Hitting the top speed of 285 several times but still averaging below 160km/h)
In realistic daytime conditions while driving 150-180 most of the time while occasionally hitting 250+ You need like a 15’ supercharge every 250km. That works for me. You could extend that to 350km but in that case you would need to charge significantly longer. (Generally charging is slower below 20 and above 80%.) Most of my destinations are within 200km and for those distances you can go nuts without any worries assuming that you can charge at your destination. But if you need to make a nighttime drive from let’s say Düsseldorf to München you can do that in an M8 averaging 200km/h with a single 5’ stop for gas. At those speeds you would probably spend an hour over at least two stops at a supercharger with the Plaid. That being said, I’m making a +5000km trip next month and I’m not even considering another car than the Plaid. (I wonder if and how much I will regret this choice next month. 😂)
@@Sam-wb7uy at 200kph energy consumption is around 50kwh/100km so with a 100kwh battery it could theoretically travel 200km in one hour.
@@philipfastre7000 On the 2022 RS6 its like 25liters/100km. So around 270-290km range. then you have to fill up for 140,-EUR. lol
You do NOT need to wait for dragstrip to be ready to use launch control. You can use it any time you want after you press dragstrip mode. The ready state is just and indication that the battery is warm enough to provide maximum power.
Exactly. This guy is spreading the same miss-information that every ICE head is spreading. That Plaid would destroy the Porsche off the line without drag strip mode being ready.
100% this. The speed after 100 kmh really suffers if the batteries are too cold, even with a good SOC. I have tried with 80% SOC and batteries that were colder than 15C, and it has the speed of the "Sport" setting, even when in Plaid mode. When batteries are over 30C, you should see most, if not all, of the performance. Also "Drag mode" is slower than the normal "Plaid" on the streets. Drag mode is to be used on a prepped surface.
@@nimaside i mean, he drove it, you didn't. Lmao
@freakattack68 The plaid runs mid nines without drag strip mode on. Do the math. With Dragstrip mode ready it'll do lower 9s.
@@topgunm All drag mode does is allow you to use launch control and runs the battery heater. It does nothing else. Track mode on the other hand changes everything including activating torque vectoring WHICH THE REVIEWER DID NOT TURN ON AND TOTALLY CHANGES THE HANDLING.
Correction, the plaid has a 461V system, not 400V like before. And I recently tested it with SMT and it keeps over 900hp even at 30%. At 50% it has 975hp. With 50% SOC it still managed 0-100 in 2.41s and 100-180 in 3.4s. 0-200 in 7.2s.
Yeah it would destroy the Taycan even at 30% and doing multiple launches.
@@Steinegal Plaid does 9.9 seconds in a quarter mile at 20%. Taycan does 10.3 at 100%
@@PassportGaming does not feel as good on road though hahha
@@theonepercentdaily Taycan weighs more, is double the price and less practical
@@PassportGaming How is an estate less practical than a sal9oon? And what does weight have to do even though taycan handles better
To be honest, summer tires in cold conditions will still perform as well or maybe better than all-season or winter tires, as long as the road isnt below freezing or covered in a decent amount of water/snow. The soft tire wall of the all-season/winter tires just make them squash under heavy amounts of power and its not confidence inspiring around corners either.
Let's not forget the space, the charging network, the software, the FSD, over the air updates... and it still beats the Taycan on the ring. So not even a contest.
But the tesla doesn't even communicate with the driver or provide any feedback through the steering wheel. Quick in a straight line and will brute force its way around a corner but it isn't a drivers car like the Porsche.

Since I have previously owned a Taycan Turbo S and now the S Plaid. I know the build quality and breaking capabilities is much better on the Porsche. However the Plaid is significantly faster both from 0-100 and especially from 100-200+ km/h. So at the moment I prefer the Tesla, but will eventually buy a Porsche again.
New plaids have better brakes not to mention Track Package...
@@lukabosnjak3829 all Plaids have track mode and the Porsche brakes don’t stop faster under normal conditions which is why you will never see a comparison brake test between the Plaid and Taycan on CZcams.

I"ll take the Porsche, sell it and get the Plaid with a brake upgrade and electricity for 10 years for less.
I'll take the Porsche, sell it, get the Plaid S, no brake upgrades needed, and with the extra money buy a Model Y performance for the wife.
rly good idea
and who is giving that Porsche to you??
That’s exactly what someone who cannot afford either car would say. As someone who could buy these vehicles, it’s the Porsche all day long (I got my Taycan Turbo S in 2021). It has superior build quality, luxury, handling, curb appeal, design, and engineering.
@@abstracta762 why performance 😮
Add a P for practical daily use to your test. I have a family, 2 kids and a shepherd dog. No problems for my Model S,. No chance in a porsche. oh and then there the tiny thing of the price diffirence, you can get an extra Model 3 for that money...
Exactly! As a long time Tesla owner having driven 130,000 uk miles since 2015 in my cooking Model S P85 RWD I would have said your rating system is correct. My old RWD MS is reasonably refined to drive infact the RWD cars are reckoned to be the best of the bunch but its 10 year old tech and still a load of fun, throw in free for life supercharging and its a difficult to pass up car. If I jumped in a new Porsche I would no doubt be impressed, if I drove a new Plaid I guess I would be blown away.....so the Plaid is cheaper?.......Ill have the Plaid.....in fact current thinking is 0-60 in 4 seconds is too much in most situations ill stick with my Peal White, black wheels. red calipers, black roof (sunroof delete), creame interior free to run P85
Id get the taycan anyday if im getting an electric car it wouldnt be for the speed lmao it would be a cruiser with great interior and great to look at. In terms of looks the porsche looks the best by a mile
Driven both-cars. You miss several issues in your evaluation. While the Porsche May be a bit sharper on steering input that’s where it ends. What you done take into consideration is how crap the user interface is on the Porsche. Additionally the living with the car factor is so much easier with the Tesla as I get OTA, Porsche I get standard ICE services.
The only thing about handling - check the Nurburgring times for Plaid vs. Taycan Turbo S.....
Superb Porsche trim alignement ??? Check Taycan panel gap (door to dashboard, under air vent) at 6:33 : normal on the right, but 15mm gap on the left...
It's all good having monstrous straight line speed but steel brakes and bad handling on the Telsa defeats the object of a sports car. Very fast car but can't stop on a dime. Carbon ceramics should be standard on the Plaid.
Luckily that doesnt matter, since it isnt a sports car, and never was. Neither is the Porsche, btw. A miata, Boxster or lotus elise, those are sports cars.
@@GoldenCroc hard argumentative base calling it "not a sports car" when it does 100-200 km/h in around 4 seconds.
@@GoldenCroc retarded take, mans calling Porsche not a sports car lol
@@BVZTIII Contrary to popular opinion, a sports car has nothing to do with neither acceleration, top speed or horsepower figures.
In short, a sports car is a 1,2 or if one wants to be charitable, max 2+2 seater car that is built to be as fun to drive as possible, foremost by being as light as possible. As you can see the cars I mentioned above fit it nicely.
As you can also see, there is no mention of acceleration in this definition, and certainly no fixed numbers for anything except the number of seats.
There are a lot of fast accelerating, high power cars and a lot of them have their own named and defined category without being sport cars. Muscle cars. Pony cars. Super sedans. GT cars. Hot hatches etc etc.
Tesla Models S would be akin to something like a modern muscle car/super sedan category. Taycan more like super sedan/GT category. Cheers.
@@GoldenCroc you can run in circles with the loads of definitions, it won't change the fact that the Model S propells you north of 250 kph in no time, but won't brake you back down accordingly, which is an incredibly stupid decision from both an engineering and safety standpoint. On top comes subpar brake calibration - full throttle, every Plaid needs harsh correction moves to not leave the road entirely. That has been shown by various sources by now.
This isn't some backyard rednecks tuning project, but a "finished" product by a big manufacturer. Tesla should get the basics of driving dynamics right before slamming 1000 hp in a car. Just my opinion, you are of course allowed to have a different opinion 😋
I kinda expected that when cornering the Tesla the rotation of the Yoke wouldn't exceed 270 degrees, because it's a yoke.
Good thing that Tesla allow people to choose between types of steering wheels now.
My favorite part of this video is when someone who dislikes tesla , stepps on the accelerator and starts to giggle 😂. That tesla is a beast!

Get off my porch! Its called Porsche
Taycan is not luxurious...
800V on Porsche just seems like marketing bullshit! Plaid always performs, even on low battery! Some guy did 40 consecutive quarter mile runs with even the last one below 10 seconds
The Porsche is a better sports car but the Plaid is way better than you what you experienced because you didn't set the steering mode to sport, which allows for a lot more road feed back, lowering the suspension to "very low", and setting the suspension to Sport. All of these settings will totally change the way the car feels and handles.
Excuses already 😂
@@valerystoichkov7429 Disingenuous response. It's a valid excuse. If you don't like it, tough. The reviewer set the Taycan it's sport handling mode but didn't do the same for the Plaid. The Taycan had way more charge and the Plaid was almost empty and it still kicked the Taycan's you know what. I already conceded the Taycan is a better Sports car. The Plaid is a grocery getting family hauler.
@@sorka95032 the Taycan is literally an estate lmao
@@ArbitraryFilmings Both the Porsche and Tesla use electric assist which completely eliminates the physical tactile feedback that you get with viscous coupling. If what you said was true, it would also be true for Porsche. Changing the steering to Sport on the Tesla doesn't just reduce assist, but changes the feedback algorithm similar to the way the Taycan does it. I own a plaid. I can tell you for a fact it does make a difference. Do I still prefer hydraulic power assist? Yes. Is the Taycan better than the Plaid. Absolutely. I've driven one and will concede this. But the Plaid IS better if you change the setting and if you want to compare apples to apples, you have to compare both on their equivalent performance settings. The suspension also factors in here as "Comfort" in the plaid is a marshmallow by comparison to Sport.
Great review, although the point difference should be 40 to 35 for the Tesla. Deducting -1 for the yoke is childish as you can order it with a normal steering wheel. Same can be said for the ceramic brakes, which will be available later this year. The price difference between the cars will also grow because the tesla is already less then 140k and will be even more discounted in the future (look at recent USA price drop). Nevertheless the Porsche is an excellent choice, because of its design, brand and driveability.
Excellent points. I would also say that the new Ultra Red really makes the Tesla stand out much better than the regular bland red. I think Tesla is slowly catching up it's game in the areas that it has been lacking. On top of the fact that you can now get a Plaid S for 105k USD, the value proposition continues to get even stronger.
Not childish for deducting one point, what is childish and completely pointless also arguably dangerous is the fact that Tesla introduced it in the first place just to be different.
It should be more like 60 to 30 for Plaid. Charging network, software FSD, over the air updates, safety rating, space, even the phone app is just way superior.
Build quality, Cool exterior and interior design, luxury, draws attention, not american, best brakes, Better handling is Porsche 👍
inferior drivetrain and software… way slower, less space, more expensive
You should try to get a hold of a Lucid. Great vid.
I drove it and it doesn't compare to the Plaid. It is borderline more luxurious (barely) and it is just a notch worse in pretty much every area except range. Less safe, uses the shitty public charging network, not the same performance and much more expensive. Did like the front screen of the Lucid tho.
@@abstracta762 if that's your opinion, I wonder if you've even sat in one.
NICE CAR
Porsche hasn't changed their design since the 1940s. 🙄 There is a reason why Clarkson always calls all Porsche cars "Beatle".
Great review. To me personally, the things such as the interior, price and driving experience should be more of a factor. You buy Porsche because well, it is a Porsche. I think you gave Tesla too much of a leeway there. I agree with the Performance part, you'd expect more from the second most powerful Porsche ever.
Honestly, to me prize for me would be 8 to 6 for Tesla, exterior is a definite 10 for Porsche, 5 to Tesla at best, Interior is a 10 (even with a dull interior this Taycan has), the quality and steering wheel just does it, and you should probably add space/storage as it's own separate category. Experience as you call it is an 8 to Porsche, 4 to Tesla. Tesla to me more feels as a toy that can go very quick for 9 seconds and do some cool tricks, but this depends if we rank the Experience category as overall using or just driving. Performance, Tesla is objectively a 10, the fastest accelerating road vehicle on the market right now, for Porsche it is probably a 6 or 5, but still bear in mind it beats 99% of cars you meet.
Other than that, thank you for your great reviews and keep it up, can't wait for you to do more fun stuff! (Gordon Murray Automotive when?)

Don't get the Dragstrip mode critique either. Just put it in Plaid and you can hit it any time you want with stupid performance. IF you want everything out of the car, it gives you the option to do the whole Dragstrip thing (with the additional thermo and the lowering of the suspension in the front). Makes no sense to think about this negatively IMHO.
The idea behind the yoke is that it will eventually retract it to the dash in a fully self driving vehicle. Might take another 10 - 15 years to get there.
They just should have had both options from the beginning. Now we have to pay 900€ for a normal wheel
It's like a wheel from race cars, so every racer is liking it
Then why isn't it retractable though? Reminds me of why the Fiat Multipla has the "sausage" bonnet - the car's upper chassis "should've" been able to rise. But it can't. Then don't do it 😂
For a family sedan, as that's what the model S actually is, plaid is just a ludicrously powerful version of it, I find it to be exceptionally nice looking. I find all the proportions perfect and I will admit I am a lover of classic lines. It's one of the nicest looking sedans in the world to my eyes. But I am someone who thinks, for example, a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk from 2020 is gorgeous, but a Kia EV6 from 2023 is hideous. Yet, on the outside, I think the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is beautiful also. That still has classic lines despite being so futuristic at the same time.
So for me, Porsches have never been all that nice too look at although the current models are the best they have ever been.

@@kageryu311 to be honest, Tesla fanboys or Tesla haters, same sh*t
Lol... Porsche is far behind on every 'objective' parameter ;)
I'd take the Porsche over the Tesla anyday.
Who needs launch control when you always have over a 1000bhp underneath your foot. Launch in the Tesla is for drag strips only. Off the lights in a city situation, nothing beats it. Just like the Taycan wagon doesn’t beat my Model 3 Performance in any off the lights situation.
Whoever came up with the yoke should face the wall.
The years of expirience of Porsche makes a better car. Tesla needs years to be a rival.
No no 😂 Porsche needs years to catch up, they are at least 5 years behind in the drive train design
@@lukabosnjak3829 And tesla is 100 years behind in build quality and dynamics.
@@ajstevens1652 You must be kidding or stupid to say that, sit in both back to back and then talk
both nice cars tho
@@lukabosnjak3829 not really, they're just conservative. There's already a software package by HGP that even transforms your Taycan 4S (!) into a 820 hp car (at all times!). Efficiency, considering tire width and pressure, as well as aerodynamics, is pretty equal taking real life comparisons of range - the Tesla has around 12% more range with 7% more usable battery. Therefore the Taycan charges a lot faster, especially on the upper end.
Honestly for a 140k car the tesla seems like a robbery. Only thing cool on that car is the 1000HP
And 200k for Porsche isn't lol?
@@XxDragonSharKxX you can get that same porsche with 500hp for about 100k, better value car imo. Also its a porsche not a tesla
@@XxDragonSharKxX At least you get a performance car with the Porsche rather than a kitchen appliance.
@@ajstevens1652 a performance car, slower than a kitchen appliance ? 🤣🤣🤣
I'm curious about build quality. Does include when the car breaks down after lots of miles? Or when you get into a crash ? Or is just looks ? Tesla all day if you really want to talk about Build quality.
well, its wise to get porsche for multiple reasons, starting of fact that plaid is not allowed to be built in europe due to low quality issues, so its all US models only you see driving
As a car, Turbo S is far better. Handling, fit and finish, looks, interior, brakes, sound, heritage, a proper steering wheel (I think this may now be an option). For the Tesla it is quicker in a straight line, a bigger boot, better rear leg room. Given people who actually like cars (e.g. handling, thrill, how it makes you feel) don't care about the stuff the Tesla is better at, then there really is no comparison.
Taycan all day.
Exterior design ❤
Interior design ❤
It just needs more power. 😂
It needs like 1300hp just to keep up with the Plaid, terribly designed drive train
It's got enough power. Let the Plaid fan boys have their 1000hp. The Porsche has a level of class the Tesla can only dream of.
It look like you were in comfort and not sport mode for the steering in the plaid... at least give a fair comparison. Fit and finish is definitely +1 for the Turbo S
Taycan Cross Turismo is bigger than 5 series touring...
Yet not bigger than the Model S on the inside...
And smaller inside than a 3 coupé...
I don't care the perforrmance of the Tesla, I like Much more the Porsche
tesla will never reach build quality of a porsche lmao
It's actually very good, drive one and check it out
Plaid will out last it
Porsche has always been on another level. Personally I feel the build quality is better than the rest. Including Ferrari, Aston etc. What Tesla has done in last ten years is astounding. Most of these legacy have been making cars for 50-100 years. It better be dialed.
@@lukabosnjak3829 I am driving a base model 2014 Cayenne and it has 200,846 mph ... Forget about tycan...
Yeah, but the Tesla takes it in the most important categories for an EV: efficiency and range. That and it will outrun the Taycan at a much lower cost. I'd love to see a comparison between the Porsche and a Lucid.
he called the porsche interior minimalistic when the tesla had a screen and wheel thats been cut in half
I love your honest thoughts on the Tesla haha
Not totally honest, since this review doesn't go deep into all the tech, charging network, software, FSD, etc where the Tesla is just way superior.
@@abstracta762 you’re not wrong about that
Bro I’m really not sure it’s alright to have large panel gaps and loose things on a car that costs 140,000 to 160000 euros. Jees how do you get away with that

140,000 for a car where the cup holders are held by what appears to be a bit of tape, sounds like good value and high level of finish. And of course that yoke, perfect for avoiding a collision😂
