Is Tesla’s underwhelming build quality (fit and finish, paint, etc) a myth or does Porsche truly make the best high-end EV in the current market?

I think everyone has their reasons to buy or not buy a car. It doesn’t matter what other people think about or value the car, because you are buying a car for yourself and your family not some random person. Whatever fits your needs(look, features, price, range and etc.) is the best car.

How often do you actually use all that power tho? I mean anything below 4 seconds is just nuts to me and I dont think I do be driving it thinking even once that I do need an extra second less to 60 😂 Now the Porsche is the same price in my country. Like for 125k you get a none plaid Model S (115k for the Model S and 10k for options) with some options and for 125k you get a Taycan with some options too (either a 93k Taycan with 5 seconds 0-60 with 32k options or a 113k Taycan 3,9 seconds 0-60 with 12k options).
I think ill get the basic Taycan with about 20k worth of options over the S. Its still extremely fast and I barely drive more than 100 miles a day so don't really need the network either. Maybe once a year we drive to France but thats 600 miles only.

Well, I remember one of my first cars back in the 90ies, a BMW Z3. It looked fast but was very slow with only a 1,8L engine. I know it wasn’t worth trying racing from the red lights with anybody. It will probably be the same with the basic Taycan. But you’ll get the best looking car!
The acceleration is something you ger used to I’m afraid. My wife has a Tesla Model 3 LR, 4,4secs on the specs and it feels really slow to me compared to the S Plaid.
My last Taycan the Turbo S is one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. And I will probably buy one again later on. But it’s a very expensive car and the taxes on the car is extremely high to have it on my company.
What colour do you want on the Taycan?

Ive been driving a Model S from new since 2014 now 137,000 uk miles and at the time my P85 RWD was the only performance EV around, Pearl white, black 19" alloys, carbon rear spolier, red calipers and black sunroof delete carbon roof, cream interior and Alcantera roof lining. Its still a relavant 0-60 4 seconds car that most people even think its a Plaid. OK so Tesla got it right straight out the gate 12 years ago and apart from the front end change is the same profile sleeper, that and the software is now totally different, far better and many more features. Im not even an iPad fan but Teslas OTA updates are staggering, and the service suppport for now whats termed "classic" Teslas has been superb. Next car? I bought the Tesla because of many factors but number 1 was the charging infrastructure so next car will be a Roadster thats been on order since launch paid for by Tesla shares......Thanks Elon and Team.

The price difference is crazy. Plaid is 130K, and the Taycan Turbo S with similar options and after dealer markups, will be around 100k more than the plaid. Tesla obviously makes a better daily EV with more range, more space, better tech, Supercharging network, etc. The only time you will see a difference with the Turbo S is on the track or on a very tight mountain road driving like a mad man. But with 100K more,,, i would get the Plaid and then with the extra 100k, pick up a used base 911 or a fully equipped Cayman for the fun stuff. I saw a CZcamsr returning a 1 year old Taycan because the car's flat screen functions had way too many bugs, and after a year of some buttons not working, it was still not fixed. So he had enough and sold it back to Porsche. Its just when you pay over 125 K for a car, you want at least all the buttons and functions to work properly. While I agree that Porsche does certain things better then the Model S.....there were some seriously incorrect statements. Every time there is an update your settings don't change. The location of things also do not change. Not sure why she said that but many of her comments were off. These are very different approaches to a 4 door EV sedan. They are also drastically different price tags. The Porsche feels like a more expensive car because it IS a more expensive car and massively so. If you want a new Taycan Turbo S you are paying almost 100k more. That is insane. You are correct when you say the Tesla is more of a technology learning curve. That is true. I also agree that it should have a normal wheel and stalk setup. The yoke complicated things that didn't need complication. Totally agree there. When she talks about body roll and such I had to laugh because both cars have modes that will allow that. The track mode on the Plaid makes it feel extremely agile while normal comfort mode is going to have more give which is obvious. The way she says Tesla engineers just made the car go fast dramatically undersells and mischaracterizes the car. In fact the Plaid is faster around the track then the Taycan. In a straight line obviously it isn't even close. UI and UX Tesla absolutely dominates the Taycan. The Porsche does a ton of things very well as does the Tesla but this video was a very low quality review of what those things are and in fact missed the mark entirely. The bottom line is Tesla is the undisputed king as it stands. The Plaid is the fastest, it is the most cost effective, it is the most practical, it has the most infrastructural support, it has the most advanced automotive computer and self driving tech. All competitors currently cost far more, have a lesser charging network, are slower and have less advanced technology. That isn't to say that the competition for the Plaid isn't brilliant because it is. I am just waiting for the tri motor version of the Porsche to come out because that will be killer. The problem is Tesla has yet to put the 4680 cells in the Plaid and boy when they do........How awesome are these cars though? All really cool examples of engineering goals and visions by very different teams who all make equally cool products.

I think a lot of what the Tesla brings is innovative - I agree they remove things that weren't asked to be removed, but it's cleaner & higher tech and that's inevitably what everything is leaning towards, be it smartphones, cars, home security systems or whatever.
You left out the storage hatch in the floor of the trunk in the Model S, which initially also had a 7 seater version, in fact Elon Musk drove one of those prototype 7 seaters so his whole family could fit.
The Supercharger charging network is also a massive plus, not to mention voice commands "navigate to x" or "play y by z" etc.
I think the appearance of the Porsche is incredible, it's a beautiful car, and you're right, the options are there between the sporty appearance of the Porsche vs the more daily driver, blend in appearance of the Tesla.
The body roll in the Tesla is to be expected from a family saloon, the Porsche is not a family style saloon.
You've lost me on the controls, I have driven many different cars & vans and you always have to take time to get used to the controls.
I feel like maybe you're almost offended by how different the Tesla actually is, as I was when I started driving my Model 3 which is far more traditional compared to the new S and X, but these things just take an extra bit of time to get used to - I also have yet to get used to the new UI, as I was only just finished getting used to the old one.
The yoke I agree is a little gimmicky, I don't want it, I like a traditional wheel, I think it's mad that they even got the allowance to ship it without the ability to swap it out for a wheel.
I think the fact that it's able to go rudely fast as well as being a comfortable family car is laudable.
The range is way better, the price is way lower, meh, just my preference but I feel like you're fairly biased toward long-established automakers in general.

Porsche is not really trying to compete with Tesla. Porsche is building the kind of EV that their loyal European performance/luxury buyers want to own. Your HUGE bias was revealed simply by your all of the things that you didn't say. You didn't talk one bit about range, or the vast Tesla Supercharger network, over the air updates, Autopilot, and Price! Those cool wheels, carbon brakes, special seats, and many other extras on the Porsche are definitely NOT free. What you DIDN"T say was that the Taycan "Turbo" S that you drove cost over $200,000, and full of options, it probably cost TWICE what the Tesla cost. Or looked at from the other side to get a Taycan at the Tesla Model S Plaid's $130K price, you are talking about a mildly optioned Taycan S. Meaning that it has nearly HALF the HP as the Plaid, and takes twice as long to hit 60MPH. This isn't going to bother a die hard Porsche fan because it still has the better materials, and top fit and finish, and they will justify that most people don't need a race car. But the performance of the $154K Taycan Turbo (not S), is a better match for the regular $100K, Tesla Model S Long Range. The base Taycan hits that Base Model S $100K price with mild options, and can easily option past the Plaid's $130K price. And this base Taycan takes over 13 seconds to get through the 1/4 mile, as opposed to the Plaid's low 9 second capability. Again, most Porsche fans won't care about that one bit, and Porsche got their EV formula right for loyal customers, so sales of the Taycan are steady and profitable for Porsche. These new performance EVs can rival the most expensive exotic cars on the road when it comes to acceleration, but are also pretty practical, quiet, comfortable, and reliable.

    • @mbasir
      @mbasir Před rokem

The Tesla can only match the Taycan in a straightline dash up to 100 kmh, after that the Taycan outperform it. And the handling of the Taycan is MASSIVELY superior to the Tesla. czcams.com/video/Hn9QWjxFPKM/video.html Oh, and the Tesla doesn't have brakes.... Oh, and built quality...

    • @deanmcmanis9398

@@mbasir The Model S Plaid's price has dropped to $89K, including paint color. You can pay $20K more for the track package with ceramic brakes and special tires. Tesla Model S retook the lead in the race against the Taycan at the Nürburgring. Using the new Track Pack, a Model S Plaid has topped the Porsche Taycan Turbo S's 7:33.35 time with a 7:25.23. That's also over ten seconds quicker than it went before. So the Taycan Turbo S is not better handling or braking now. And of course the Plaid's straight line acceleration is in a different league.

I love love love the sexy look of the car. 99% of your passengers are going to also like your car more than the Plaid, because the 4S is still PLENTY fast, but most the time, you're driving chill, you wanna relax, you like how finished and sexy the car is. You're not a high school kid that's revving his mustang to show off. I just love the Porsche. I wish Tesla would make something competitive with the Tesla Roadster. And $50k deposit for the roaster?! Very confusing to have 4 screens for small tasks instead of one. Tesla is more practical, safer, better engineered, SuC network, up to date, easy, faster, family friendly, laid back, tech, range and made for the future. I'd go with the tesla and most because it's cringe to get gapped in a taycan by a big family sedan with kids eating ice cream winking at you and it also covers every needs. Streaming services like Disney plus, CZcams , are a must in a car so I rather take the Tesla. It has better software , sentry mode/dashcam and Tesla app has more functionality like live camera view. More interior storage in the center console and a bioweapon defense mode that provides the cleanest air and prevent allergies. Porsche has a slower ui and got nothing on the amd ryzen cpu in the Tesla.

The Plaid is superb any day every day for many years to come very slick elegant beauty !! IF you compare tycan to Chevy bolt or Hyundai Kona electric then yes tycan is better.

C'mon man you cant bring me a Porsche car dealer and tell me you are giving a fair comparison/review. Of course the car dealer is going to push the Porsche so that she can make a profit on the mark ups etc. Tesla basically eliminated the middle person/car dealers with their contactless experience. You pay what you see on the site instead of having to negotiate with a car sales person trying to make you overpay. Thats like brining an apple store employee to a Samsung vs Apple comparison video.

Porsche is not for every body. Yeah the Plaid have the advantage in technology, but never will beat Porsche in quality and realability. You don’t need a car to go at warp speed all the time, and if that was the case, in track performance, the Taycan will be better, better handling, better brakes, the Plaid will be fast only in straight line.

People got the money, they charge their Taycan at home in a nice garage. Tesla free life time super charger good for Uber.
