looks great, handy tips on fitting too
good result
the only thing i'd suggest is using a silicone smoothing tool to get a much better bead
Thank you! I've put a grey strip silicone on now and it looks so much neater!
Thanks for posting this video. I had heard about this before and this has reassured me that I am capable of putting it on!
Yes you are! Let me know how you get on! ☺️
Wow, your kitchen is identical to mine and I'll be using it as a point of reference. Thanks for the video.
Amazing !! So easy, who knew. Great transformation.
Thanks so much!
Thank you for clear and concise tutorial - very helpful. Not sure it looked great on tiles tbh or with the sealant, but counter tops looked pretty convincing and you've given me the confidence to do my counters. Thank you
A lovely! That's great news! Definitely give it a go :)
It's not super obvious in real life to be honest. Also, I have put grey strip sealant over the white now so it looks much better 😊
You go girl i think you smashed it .
that is an amazing change! thanks for your video. it's really helpful for me :)
Ohh so glad it helped!! Thank you for watching! ☺️
Brilliant thank you i will definitely change my worktop 😍
So glad it helped! Yay! Good luck with yours!
What a woman! Looks great and inspired me to give it a go.
Thank you! Yay! Do it!
This is one of few times where before is looking way better than after
Haha each to their own. I really loved it. Although I've changed it again now if you see a more recent video 😁
Great job! I'm sure Yiannimize will give you a job!
Fantastic video. Really really helpful thank you 💗
Aw so glad it was! :D
Great job
Brilliant job looks so very nice 👍😃
Ah thank you!!!
Your so welcome have you got anymore lined up?would love to see 👍😃
@@rodadams8422 They'll be a vlog of this going up soon too! Have you seen the rest of my decorating playlist? Might interest you!
@@MissMoogle am just looking though your list sorry I didn't realise how many there are. 👍😃
I have been watching contact paper/ vinyl make overs for weeks! This is the best one and has helped me make up my mind about doing my worktops. The website u used looks fab and the products seem perfect. A lot of other videos were using real cheap stuff which wasn't heat resistant and was always that white marble effect! New sub thank u
That's amazing! I'm so happy you like it and it's helped you! Yes, the stuff is lovely and great quality! Good luck with yours!! x
This looks amazing, you'd never know it was stickers. I've just purchased my first home and il definitely be doing this to freshen it up on a budget
Thanks for the video
Yay! Glad you think so! Good luck with yours!
Did all the bubbles go once dried on the tiles and are the tiles visible through the wallpaper? X
That silicon job ruined it imo. Use masking tape next time to create a consistent line on the bead. But thanks for showing how you did it
That drove me insane too :O
And all the bubbles in the tiles at the end s
I've just ordered that same colour for my dining table if I do ok will be doing the counter tops 👍
Ohhh yay! Good luck with it! 😊
I did it it turned out great no bubbles and my partner was even impressed with the look of it
new subbie here...i am so glad i found your channel = great work
Ah thanks so much! Glad you like it! ☺️ Hope you enjoy sticking around!
I love the wooden looking contact paper. I would have used clear silicone at the end though. Well done!
Thanks so much! Yeah I completely agree! I've sorted it now. Ended up putting grey strip silicone over it and it looks so much better!
Lovely job just wondered if the wallpaper was safe as cooker gets warm?
I think if you have gas you might want to cover with a heat proof glass thing but mine is fine.
Hi you done a great job and inspired me to do my kitchen. My question is can I use wallpaper paste instead of the company’s recommendation? Well done again. 😊
So glad it's inspired you! I'm! I'm pretty sure you could but maybe do a test spot first 😊
What about putting hot things on top would it not burn...you done a good job beautiful kitchen
I just put down little rubber mats when I need to put a hot pan down. Had no problems :D thank you so much!
I don’t know why there are men on here with their ridiculous comments. I think it looks nice, you did a really good job.
Girl power! X
i would have definitely painted the top cabinets white and change the handles to something more modern. great job
Thank you for watching! I have no spray painted the handles a matt black which I love :)
May I ask how the work tops stand up over time. How long did the one you removed last?? I really want to try this but not sure how hard wearing it will be. Great demonstration tho👍
Really really well! Had no problems at all with the wear. Obviously if you're putting hot pans down just use a little rubber mat. I'd definitely say give it a go!
I would seal it with midge podge and it would be water proof
Do u layer of the vinyl when u cut it overlap of put down rite next to it
Hi, did you have to remove the silicon around the sink as well?
Yeah it's best too so you can apply it right up to it and then seal over it with fresh silicone to make it all water tight.
Is this safe to have behind a cooker?
I don't want it to melt while cooking on the hobs.
I think they advise to put a heat proof glass thing up at the back. Especially if you have a gas top. My electric one is fine though ☺️
Was just wondering can you see the shape of the tiles behind the paper or not ? I’m going to try and do this to my kitchen
Only a little bit in certain lights! Doesn't bother me 😁
Can I ask how you managed to the plastic underneath the silver metal on the countertop?
If you're talking about the silver strip near the sink area? I just score along the edge so it's not underneath it, just as close to as possible. Hope that helps!
Good video 👍 How resistant is this material to heat if you accidentally place a medium hot/warm pot on it?
Would also appreciate if you can share how it has held up over time 😊
To be honest I think it’s advised you shouldn’t put anything too hot on it… but I’ve always used little rubber matts if I was ever putting a pan down anyway. Even if you don’t have DCFix covered worktops I think it’s still best to do that. It’s held up great; no issues :)
@@MissMoogle thanks for the reply! We will give it a try 👍👍
@@MissMoogle looks lovely. How has it held uk around the sink? Especially with all the separate little pieces...
How long did the previous paper last you? And since the. Would you say the new paper is holding up well? We’re planning on remodeling our camper!
It had lasted just fine, I was only changing it to change the colour up. I haven’t had any problems at all :)
@@MissMoogle I would like to know exactly how long does it last? Because so many people asked you same question but you answer is not satisfactory.
You have done great job I wish I could do it.
@@ikhan7289 You'd be better off asking Create Your World directly. I can only answer on my experience I'm afraid. You can absolutely do it.. it's not too hard once you get started!
I would love to try this on my kitchen but surely you would see the tiles underneath the covering as tiles not completely flat?!
Nope. It's thick enough not to see them! Maybe order a sample to test ☺️
I love this stuff but I’m wondering how did it fair behind the cooker
It's been no issue. I think maybe you'd have to put something more fireproof on top if you had a gas cooker?
Whats the glue you used looks great
Link is in the description. It's from Create Your World too. Worked really well ☺️
What kind of glue did you apply on the tiles
before applying the wallpaper
The company I got it from provided the glue :D
Do you have to remove the backing paper when doing this
The white backing paper to reveal the stickiness... yes :)
Can the wrap on the tiles and glue be removed at a later date? I rent so would need to remove anything like this before the end of my tenancy
Hi! Thank you for watching! Create Your World have advised me that you can remove it but the glue may need ethanol or something containing it to remove any residue. Hope this helps!!
How hard-wearing is it on worktops? I'm constantly bleaching my laminate tops.
Not at problem at all! Clean really well and last ages!
im just about to embark on this, how did you get the false drawer off? im at a loss how to do it
Hey, I didn't take it off... just worked around it 😊
@@MissMoogle ah, i need to take handle off
I would like to know if it is still stuck on after a couple of years? and what problems you have had maintaining you kitchen with it down please x
No problems at all. I've actually got a new video going up soon. You'll see how it looks now... but I have just changed it to a different shade hehe. It lasts really well but if you change your mind it's super easy to replace too! 😁
Is it OK to apply wallpaper to back of cooker area?
yes its an excellent idea, who need ceramic tiles and stainless steel back plates? As long as it looks ok for the first five minuets after completion. And bit of wafer thin vinyl, plastic wrap has never had problems near heat before has it? PS please ask any qualified trades person to give you an opinion on this :P
Can you get the rolls in lengths longer than 2 metres?
I'm not sure on how long they do up to. Have a look on their site or pop them a message 😁 Hopefully!
How well does this last after say a yrs use?
It lasted well... But I changed my mind and replaced it with stick on tiles... Then I changed my mind and did real tiles myself hehe... Have a flick through some of my more recent videos and you'll spot me doing it 😁
My primary concern with these products is durability. What are your thoughts on how durable the products are and thus how long before the workshops will end up looking tatty again? Thanks.
They're great. The backsplash area I have changed but that was just because I wanted to change the look. The worktop vinyl is great!
@@MissMoogle The whole focus seems to be on the aesthetics and ease of installation. I can see nothing relating to durability. it would be good to do some tests to see how resistant the materials are to wear amd tear. Or how long might one expect the worktop material to last in a busy family household? Thanks.
@@simonbragg5888 You could possibly ask the company if you're looking for something more in depth. I was just showing the process of updating my kitchen for my own happiness haha 😊
For the counter top I used a hairdryer round the corners it was much easier.
Thank you! I do find that helps on curved surfaces but I find the kitchen top pretty easy to bend it round.
Looks good it's just the mastic that lets it down but otherwise a good job
Thank you!
I think the colours clash. I did my worktop in 'wood butchers block effect' d c fix & left the tikes white: but I bleached the ancient grout with toothbrush & bleach spray. They look new now. . More modern look.
Appreciate your thoughts and thanks for watching... I'm super happy with it though ☺️ yeah it's such great stuff for making things look more modern!
Maybe a grey silicone would of blended in better but good job.
You're very right! I didn't even realise other colours existed! I thought there was just white or transparent! Will definitely go for grey next time!! Thank you for watching! ☺️
I would have used the proper tool for smoothing your silicone since they only cost a couple of quid from screwfix and it makes for a much smarter job. Also would have used grey or clear silicone since you don't have white grout any more.
Funnily enough I tried the tool and I'm still rubbish at doing it. I've put a grey strip silicone over it now and it looks so much neater 😊
how do you think it has held up now that its been a while? Thanks!
The dcfix on the worktop very well… although I have changed it now. Got a new video going up soon for that. And I changed the wallpaper stuff too! Stick on tiles now… that videos up if you want to take a look :) I could have left it all but I get bored haha
@@MissMoogle thanks for the response! i will check out, and just did stick tiles up in my bathroom....appreciate this!
@@user-mm1vq3iy1b Ohhh lovely! Hope they look amazing!
Please help! I cannot seem to put the contact paper on my cupboard doors without getting loads of bubbles. I cleaned the area, measured up and peeled it slowly while pushing the bubbles out. Still no luck 😭 Is it because the doors are high gloss or is it because I’m rubbish at it? 🤣 xx
Oh no! I'd imagine high gloss would be easier! A smooth surface should be perfect! Yeah, the advice I'd give would definitely be to peel slowly and smooth each bit down! But you're doing that! Make sure it's all lined up evenly too at the start? You could try heating it up with a hair dryer to shape it a bit more if needed... But if you do get bubbles you can just use the needle tip and pin prick the centre and then smooth the air out :) I hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by! :)
Try moving top to bottom, smoothing down with the dc fix tool side to side. Found this technique out after applying on to my 3rd door 🤞🏻
Hows it holding up a year later? What about hot pans, trays and plates etc?
Absolutely fine. Still love it. Been no issue at all. I never put hot pans down anyway and if I do then I use a protector.
Very good video...but i like the old kitchen a lot more than the new one.
That's fair. I've changed it AGAIN if you see my latest video. I get bored easy haha
@@MissMoogle haha,i gonna have a look now🙂
Good video , plenty of content and description thank you , but you've had a shocker with the sealant 🙈
It's all better now. I've popped a grey strip sealant over it and looks so much neater! Haha! Lesson learned! Thanks so much for watching! ☺️
You get silicone application tools, like a rubber bank card sized item with each corner mitred for the desired size, use a spray gun with washing up liquid in and spray the silicone after it has been applied, then with the tool just wipe it along the silicone and it gives a perfect finish every time 👍🏻
Ignore them. Sealant is always dreadful on your first few tries. You have to get used to it and practice just like anything else.
How does it look after you remove them lets say in 1-2 years? Will there be any marks or smth?
I know the worktop stuff doesn't leave marks at all. The wallpaper however might leave a bit... but would be able to be cleaned off I think!
Okay so the only things I see wrong which are preference. The tile will show through… also the caulking at the end should have used tap to make those line jalapeño solutions straight.
Yeah I was happy with this but I have actually since updated it again if you see are recent video. I have also found using a silicone strip much more effective.
Is it safe behind the cooker
Maybe if you have a gas cooker you could put a fire proofing behind the cooker.
The wall one was not totally smooth which would drive me insane 🤣🤣🤣
Looked good though. Well done
Am i the only one who thought the before shot looked better?? 😂 Great wee video though. Just wondering why you would use white silicone and why you didn't seal it round the sink?? That won't last long when the water gets under it.
Hi! Yeah you're not the only one haha but I liked it! If you check out more recent videos I have changed it again. I'm not expert haha the week after I got some grey strip silicone and it looked so much better. Also, I did seal around the sink with clear 😁
@@MissMoogle ah that makes more sense! Thanks for clarifying. I'm tempted to have a go myself but the sink area puts me off, and I'm pretty clumsy so don't think the dc fix would last long with me lol. Well done on a good job though! 💪 I'll definitely have a look at your other vids. Watching you do it as easily as you did makes me wanna have a go now 😅 all the best x
@@kerryswanson3165 You can do it!!
Looks fab but I’m not sure my attempt would turn out quite like this... 🥴🥴🥴
Ah thank you! Honestly you might surprise yourself! Try practising on something small first! :D
There’s loads of bubbles in that covering the tiles
i liked before!!
That's fair. I'm super happy with it like this though!
Anyone can plz help me! Is it easy to take them off??
Yeah absolutely, use a hair dryer and it makes it even easier! 😁
🥰
That sealant job is horrendous but besides that it looks good
Haha thank you! Yeah I've improved it now by putting a grey strip sealant over it. It looks so much neater now! And stands out less! Thanks for watching! ☺️
I prefer the before
I prefer the after :D
The wall paper on the titles doesnt work...it looks like you have lots of airbubbles but thats because of the tiles...
Also the silicon is a really bad job... you should never wet your finger
do you have any surgestions how you can glue somehting modern over oldfashioned wall tiles in the kitchen? I just dont want to rip the old tiles from the wall, i need a quicker solution.
Use this stuff! It's great! You really can't tell there are tiles underneath in real life ☺️
Grey silicone!
You're very right! I didn't even realise other colours existed! I thought there was just white or transparent! Will definitely go for grey next time!! I have actually covered it now with a grey strip silicone and it does look so much better!
Thank you for watching!
Well done. Don’t wish to be churlish but it’s ‘excess’ not ‘access’. Just sayin’
Looked amazing until you sealed it 🙈 live and learn i suppose
Yeah, white didn't work but I've put a grey strip seal over it now and it looks much better 😊
@@MissMoogle I really want to do my kitchen now, it's looking tired but dont have the money for a new one, I didnt think this stuff would look so real.
sealant not right
very uneven
I put a strip sealant on over anyway 😁 that stuff is so hard to use haha
If you see my latest video I've actually done two further kitchen tile updates since this one 😁
nice job but your sili
cone finish is a mess
Absolutely! I changed it in the end and used a grey strip silicone; so much neater!
The two don’t work together. Also the white sealing was messy. Sorry it’s a no from me but creative world are great.
Each to their own.. I was really happy with it :)
that silicone job at end 🤦♂️
It was a disaster! I’ve since changed the kitchen up again and used strip silicone this time so I don’t mess it up haha
@@MissMoogle still a good job though 👏 great effort, also try a darker colour like a grey, the line doesn't jump out at u as much
@@drumsdotcom I did exactly that 😁😁
Hahahaha, your silicon seams :-D
Yep! Really bad... fixed them now though!
Idiot
JESUS, Next time you put on silicone.. make a line and put some washingliquid and water in a spray bottle and spray it generously THEN Smooth it out with a wet finger.
It was a bit of a sloppy job but who doesn't love a SJ
Unfortunately, at the end of the video, all shape underneath tiles was easily visible - not the look you are after. Useless
Haha. I was happy with it to be honest. Obviously not the neatest job but I liked it. In a more recent video I've since changed it again though! 😁
Silicone skills are shocking
Agreed! Haha!
And as you set Anthony hot on it, it melts. Don't think about cutting on it either. No thanks. Just save your money and get the real thing
It's stood the test of time really well. Would never put down hot pans without using a rubber protector underneath anyway and always cut on chopping boards so it's been no bother to me to be honest.
@@MissMoogle this is just tacky, sorry, but it is.
I’ve never seen such bad silicone work before. Jesus. Ruined the job.
It was bad! I've redone it now with grey silicone strip and looks much better 😁
Miss Moogle glad to hear it, as the rest of the job looked great!
Terrible
0:15 omg you made it uglier.
Looks a bit shit.
Wow that looks horrendous!
F-Me! Look at the silicone!!! This is mental! work surfaces are designed for hot pans and have scratch resistant surfaces.
I've got some nice fancy wallpaper if you want to stick it on the bonnet of your car? 2.45k SUBS? Jesus Imagine the carnage
