  • It's time to start thinking about prototyping, contacting publishers, and setting up meetings to pitch my games!

Good stuff! I took my Launch lab prototypes to Gen Con and the publishers complimented their work. Thank you for the recommendation and discount code. I wrote to about 60 publishers before the Con. Half wrote back, and I was able to set many meetings. Many publishers said they don’t take pitches or prototypes at cons as they are too busy. Gen Con was nuts, but fun. I was able to approach many publishers that did not write me back for a quick pitch. Now I wait……..

A year of watching your channel and I am finally ready to pitch at Essen!
Still a lot to finish these last weeks, but your channel has really made a big difference for me. I probably had not come this far without it.
Thank you so much for the work you put in to this channel Adam, I hope I run in to you at Essen

No one can say you're not organised, Adam. You've done tonnes of research and preparation and given it loads of thought. You certainly deserve a lucky break..... good luck!!

Thanks Bruce - yes, I’ve definitely put in the hours - if only it was that easy!

On the shipping front, if your booking a hotel for a conference they'll often be happy to recieve parcels for you ahead of your stay.
At a conference they'll usually have shipping available for folk with a table/stand.
Not done this for board game stuff granted but regularly have done for my field of work. Saves me lugging pop up banners, conference swag/merchandise or extra tech around with my luggage when travelling, I'll send all that stuff ahead of time. Same for going home I'll usually allocate some time on the final day to make a trip to a courier and get it all sent home.

Thanks Oliver - yes, it looked promising for a while. The pandemic didn’t help!

I wish you the best of luck pitching this year. I think you'll at least have the most professionally produced prototypes. Launch Tabletop is a great service. Maybe I'll be able to use it myself in the future.
I'll definitely be in Essen as well. Would love to have a quick talk or something if I by chance see you while you're not too busy.

making prototypes is the worst... especially if you're not very skilled at handicraft. the monetary cost also isn't great.

In previous years I’ve spent weeks and weeks just cutting up paper and cardboard -to get enough prototypes together for Essen Spiel. It’s been much more pleasant ordering them online!
