I first came to Honolulu in 1984......remember old man Matsumoto on the weekends would always be standing in the store while it was packed with people watching the store with a smile on his face....I was only 19....today I would have gone up and shook his hand and said hello....of course I never saw him making shave ice back then....I remember him up till around 1988 or so do not know when he died....good memories....

I started going there in 84 never once saw him at the machine always would be on the floor watching the packed store on weekends with a small smile on his face....what a wonderful life he led owning that store back in the day on the north shore....i could handle that life....the store back then closed around 5pm as i remember ....if i was at the beach had to hurry to make it there to get some shave ice...anything with coconut was the best...i just researched him he died in 1993....RIP...

I remember the theater barely......I lived Honolulu 84 to 07...moving back in winter of 24....
