    Probably the most underrated player of his generation. His game wasn't as flashy as other elite scoring wings like, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Kobe, LeBron, D-wade etc so he always got overlooked. Top 2 or 3 clutch players during his time and during his title run he went toe to toe with LeBron James and Kobe Bryant in their primes and outdueled them.

      What Paul did against those two to win a title is what life is all about. Was he “on their level” for a career? Who could ever hope to be? But with Paul we knew he could rise to their level for the right year, a series, a game, or a huge shot. You need a heart the size of a beachball to even seize an opportunity like that.

      He was never the type of player interested in going toe to toe with anyone, unless it was absolutely necessary, cause he was more interested in his team's performance than individual stats, particularly from the 2008 season onwards. And you're dead-on with everything you said about him. So underrated. And yeah on the last play of the game you know Paul's going to bring it up the floor, head to the right at the top of the key, take a couple dribbles in the defenders face, fall away draining it. If you look there is not one other Celtic with a defender five feet from him. But that was the only way to try to stop him, but he still gets to the rack.

    That 2002 Celtics team was really underrated and was fun to watch Paul Pierce come into his prime. I think they were better than the Jason Kidd led Nets, who were so over-hyped--- and got swept by LA when the Celtics could have stole one or two games that Finals. Then they traded for an alcoholic Vin Baker, and it was a disheartening 6 seasons of the Celtics getting worse and worse and Paul Pierce being unrecognized and wasted years of his talent. With KG, Ray Allen, Rondo, etc, the Celtics won one, probably should have won three (Garnett's injury and 2010 Finals = LA takes 21 FTs in the 4th quarter of Game 7, etc...) but I'm very happy that Pierce made the Top 75 list. Well earned.

    • @ergoat
      @ergoat Pƙed 2 lety

      @@sicnarf6971 And you forget that Celtics starting center Perkins was injured for Game 7, Kobe shot 6 for 24, the Lakers were down big in the 4th, and then the refs granted them a parade to the free throw line. 21 in a quarter is a lot. And those rebounds you are talking about? Refs swallowed their whistles on countless offensive fouls and 3 in the Key penalties against the Lakers who illegally clogged the paint all quarter. Oh, and Kobe wanted no part of guarding Paul Pierce or Ray Allen and switched off them: something Jordan would have never done (as long as we're talking shit).

    • @sicnarf6971
      @sicnarf6971 Pƙed 2 lety

      @@ergoat @ergoat You're going to start your argument by crying about PERKINS? Aiight that's decent. You should also know ANDREW BYNUM got injured in those playoffs. He only played 18 minutes game 7 because his knee problems. Andrew didn't play the 4th quarter in game 7 at all by the way.
      Yea Kobe had a rough shooting night. He had a rough year. Did you not know he broke his finger on his shooting hand? ANY OTHER PLAYER WOULD"VE SAT OUT TO REST. Kobe understood their window for winning a chip was closing so he fought through the pain.
      Then you want to cry about Freethrows? This makes me question if you even watched the game or just looking at stats. Boston started the 4th quarter with BIG BABY / Wallace on Pau Gasol. 2 fouls in the first fucking minute. Then KG fouls artest but they didn't get the call. You can even hear Jeff Van Gundy watch the replay and say "that was a foul, I give Artest credit for not complaining". Boston played very stupid the 4th quarter.
      Going back to the beginning. You complained about Perkins being out. Then you should fucking understand THAT'S WHY NOONE WOULD GUARD PAU GASOL. They couldn't use Garnett on him all game cause he would foul out so Garnett was playing Center.
      The only major call that went against Boston was Pau Gasol not getting called for the up and down when he hit that famous shot over 3 defenders and ran off screaming like a Spanish Conquistador lmao
      Now lastly you're comparing Kobe to Jordan? Jordan is arguably the greatest of all fucking time you douchebag. Also I should remind you that Jordan wasn't guarding the best players in the second 3peat. He was earlier on but not later. They brought Ron Harper and Dennis Rodman specifically to play hard defense. Your argument has holes all over it buddy. (as long as we're talkin shit)

      No he's 100% a Legend.. The only help he had was guys like Walker who couldn't stay in game shape and was overpaid and journeymen like Ricky Davis and Raef Lafrentz.. He had highlights through his era, staying with a franchise that bungled every chance they had to help him.. Pierce basically had the equivalent of McGradys magic team for most of his career.. I don't really care about the Celtics, but he was one of the players I actually got happy for when he finally got help.. Fringe as it may be, PP will be looked back on as one of the underrated hall of gamers who were saddled with shit teams and shit coaching and still made them relevant

I think a lot more people can relate to crafty players like kyrie or Paul Pierce because they're not gigantic huge freak of nature like Lebron James so they had to play Another way

    Nobody ever talks about how Pierce is the ONLY player in his era who outplayed and beat all the "anointed" ones in the postseason, including Iverson (Pierce ended AI's run in Philly one season after he stepped all over Ty Lue. Scored 46 pts in the deciding game 5 against Philly'' defense and AI never recovered. Pierce also bested TMac, Kobe, DWade and Lebron in the postseson, all next MJ's. If Pierce had played with someone like Shaq early in his career, Pierce easily has 5-6 rings, and due to his clutchness and a number of championships, would easily be regarded as a top 10-20 player of all time. He was special. It's hilarious how everyone hates him. Probably because he's the only one who spanked their hero.

Your team is running n gunning with a smooth player. Pierce was just smooth and a guaranteed bucket getter.
