It's actually him calling the Russians "the French" WHILE fighting alongside the actual Frenchies, still not far off, just a nitpick. Still based af.
During that time, and especially just a decade after, France and Britain became lesser enemies and began to focus on other potential threats like Russia and Prussia. France and Britain were the two largest colonial empires, and respectively the first and second strongest powers in Europe. Fighting would be futile.

The Khwarazmian Empire is why we talk today about algorithms.
