There is this mongolian tradition where a child learns their entire family tree all the way up to their great great grandfathers. This was so we could confidently avoid incest as that is considered as a very grave evil. This tradition still persists in our nomadic population but died out in urban areas with my generation.
There is a similar Indian tradition, called Gotra. Basically it is like an ancestor who lived a couple of millenia back. If people have the same Gotra, they can't marry.

3:01 Talking about the lobster war. A similar conflict happened between Spain and Canada in 1994. It´s called the fletan war and it was about some galician dudes fishing in Canadian national waters and refusing to recognize the existance of the canadian international waters when the canadian coastal navy arrived to see what was happening. The conflict became bigger when the canadian ships shot at the spanish fishermen´s ship. Spain defended their fishermen and was backed by Iceland and the E.U, on the other hand Canada was backed by the U.K and partially by the U.S.A. The conflict ended in 1996 when the canadians gave up and granted the galician fishermen to fish at their national waters once a year.

Back in 2007-09 I worked with a lot of people who grew up in the USSR and stayed for a minute after the fall. All of them said Yeltsin was a drunken fool.
What made me a history nerd was my dad being a history nerd and just being surrounded by that. That and watching history channel as a kid as much as cartoons back when it was actually, you know, about history.
