Great Video! As a german a little prounaunciation tip. If you say Volk dont sound the V as an W, like in Wolf. Say the V like the F in flower. Then u say it perfectly :)
That was already in Steel Panthers about correct units for correct dates. It meant that you only had lots of MkIII H's with the stubby 50mm vsT34s and KVs. I've seen you struggle to take out KVs, everyone has, well, it's a lot worse when that's all you have. You end up having to swarm the T34s and get them from the back only, since the armour and guns were a lot more accurate than in GoH. KVs, only with support, but silence the turrets first. 88s were rare in 1941. Rommel discovered how good they were on a flat trajectory in France, and out of desperation with British Matilda tanks, which German tanks and AT had no answer for (the same in the desert with Matilda IIs, Rommel only had 9 88s for the entire front at first, disposed at korps level). They were therefore rare until after 1942, you're right about that. What compensated for the Red Army having much better tanks on paper was the bad crews in real life and in some games. Bad crews and poor fire control compared to German tanks meant slower rates of fire and missing a lot more. Depending on the crew, you could just jazz the tank up with MG fire and get them to abandon. It's good when games do that, but GoH doesn't. The fact that it's online only for no reason also causes massive lag and that is the only difficulty I experience compared to other games like it, even RTS. I've got 64 gb of ram as well, lol. Lacks the old german squeeze-bore AT gun, like you get to use in Graviteam on the Eastern Front. Volksturm, watching them literally disintegrate at Ardennes whenever they broke cover from the woods to yank arty fire is always fun.
Do you suppose theyll ever let us get to preview the units in the research screen? Rather than the current system of having to back out, navigate the troop list, and try to locate unit X in the list
I used all your guides before I started playing I got into the game because of wolfpack345 but you’ve kept me playing it because the starting learning curve. Also I use to legitimately be scared to play defense but your German convict squad series gave me confidence to play defense and the game is much more enjoyable because of you

Great update summary SJB 👍 Like you, I believe that it is in Conquest that this game really comes alive! The only other thing on my dream list would be multi-player Conquest, but that would require a bigger redesign. For now, this will keep me fully engaged for the next six months or so 😂
I hope US get more M1919A6 as LMG, one of my biggest gripe with US Inf is the lack of squad based MGs, BAR is good and all but its not an LMG so it cant suppress enemy infantry well and instead it fits the role of assault rifle more imo Also paratroopers only when

I did play a bunch of conquests with soviets and fins But most of them i played on German side Not bcz of German weaponry being overpowered but because of plethora of strategies we can use Conventional (tanks and infantry) Unconventional (tank destroyers, elite troops, and guerilla special forces (brandenburg) Brute force (Tigers, king tigers, jagdtigers , sturm tigers etc)

@@SirJellyBean When you’re going to do the American tech tree, the 82nd has some really elite units with 6 rifle stats and 1.47 rifle accuracy multi I think, which no other units like 101st and even the rangers can compete with
You know I love Gates of hell, I have around 500h on it but since the liberation DLC I cant' play conquest😪 The reason is because It's lagging so fucking much It's unplayable and I don't know why! I don't have great computer but It's not THAT bad. Does anyone else have this problem or Is it just my stupid computer?
@@SirJellyBean I've uninstalled and then installed again but it didn't do shit unfortunetly. One thing I remember happen when I play conquest is that even tho I play alone I'm in 'multiplayer' mode. But that maybe is how it works, idk. But it seems so wierd to me!
I'd rather see work on the AI over anything else from the developers, then work on stabilizing multiplayer so every explosion doesn't explode the frame rates. If you don't micro everything it dies, later in conquest when you have larger units it only compounds the problem. AI having better equipment won't change this, it just means more spam attacks with better gear. I have seen squads just stare at grenades thrown in the middle of them while never attacking the thrower. Mortars are at least as lethal to your own troops as they are the enemy and tanks will focus on a lone riflemen while enemy AT guns or other tanks are shooting at them. Don't even get me started on large artillery if you forget to turn off fire at will. No, there are some good ideas here, but until they fix the AI it is just lipstick on a pig. This game has the potential to be one of the all time greats, but the AI wears me out and I end up stopping playing every time I get back into it.
very boring game, all you need is a couple of tanks, some ammo and game over... more units and all that doesnt really matter, Ai is junky as hell, and i hardly doubt the devs will improved them any time soon. i played it for a week, had my fun, but it got too repetitive. was thinking about buying normandy, my friend did, and ive seen him playing, but not worth it for just a few new infantry textures

I disagree it does have its issues but boring is the last thing id call Gates Of Hell if i were you id give it another try
