This is one of my favorite revelations of bleach. I just think it's cool that his dad was and is a soul reaper. That's a cool dad 😎
Also the torn captains cloak on his shoulder is very cool forshadowing
Tbh his mom being a Quincy was way cooler because of how powerful ichigo is having all 3 in him, Quincy, soul reaper and hollow
There's so many good revelations about Isshin's past and family later on. Cool to see it all connect
Now you know why it was mentioned in an earlier episode that Ichigo had innate Shinigami powers that were awakened by Rukia's Spiritual Energy. It's because his father is a Shinigami and by the haori Isshin is wearing he was a captain at one time.
he was the OG captain of squad 10 being replaced with his then 3rd seat Hitsugaya Toshinori (i think because rangiku was not strong enough to be a captain so she stayed as a lieutenant) thats probably why they haven't had a scene together so that it can be revealed here.

And just so there isn’t any confusion, Ichigo’s dad is a full fledged Soul Reaper. Not a Substitute like Ichigo is called.
The story behind how he came to live in the human world? Well that won’t be told for a long while.
The captain’s type robe also that Isshin is wearing he’s a total badass
Not just any soul reaper, or any caption soul reaper, the full truth of his past is pretty crazy

The reaction to Isshin being a Soul Reaper was gold lol. You may not be feeling it that much at this point, but the story starts firing on all cylinders in just a couple episodes.
Idk how far ahead you might be, but I can't wait until you get there.
For real I hope she stick it out through the boring episodes( there are quite a few) cause the final arc is crazy
I do find it a bummer that you haven’t been feeling the story from where it is right now, but based on what point in the story you are close to I hope it picks up for you.
This story is a slower burn, but it has to be emotionally invested. They have to build up additional characters for you and back story. Don't worry this is the best Arc Awake.
Early arrancar is the slowest period and parts of fake karakura but it's still the best arc for me

[Tidbits & Clarifications]
- Uryu was raised or at least grew up in his fathers home, He just spent more time with His Grandfather because he was invested in the Quincy lifestyle whereas the Father wanted no part of that.
- Kubo uses a narrative trick here the he often employs, he has Ryuken insult Uryu while also giving us direct information, yet because it was delivered as an insult the audience doesn't really pay mind to the information. So let's put it into perspective, Uryu who nearly killed a Captain did so with inexperienced Quincy powers, just imagine what his actual potential is.
- The Isshin reveal is awesome because like most things in Bleach if you go back and pay attention you'll see the signs.
- In addition to Isshin being a Captain, we saw that he has a white cloak wrapped around his arm. This means he was a Captain class Shinigami.
- Why hide it? Why not train him? or better yet Why isn't Isshin in the Soul Society and where did he get a gigai from?
[All of which are questions that will be answered throughout the story]
that reaction was priceless LMAO Also there's a lot / there will be a lot of important family lines/ties specially on Ichigo's Father Family name, it was dropped before some time ago about "helping an Uncle" by someone in the soul society

So just because you might have missed it based on the statement of "Captain class shinigami control the size of their swords" and by the partial Haori (coat thing tied to his arm, not sure if they reveal it) Kurosaki Isshin is both implying it himself and the show is also implying it, Isshin is a former captain. Aizen also before he took off talked about a special gigai that made someone indistinct from human when he was talking to rukia.
Unfortunately they don't return to this for a *very* long time. I really wish they`d just dump all the info right now so it makes sense.

YES! we're finally here! loved this reveal and the little bit of knowledge with it, helps make sense of why ichigo was the only one walking around with a comically oversized sword when the lore states sword size correlates with strength

I really enjoy seeing your reactions. Bleach was my childhood favorite. It's what got me hooked on anime and wanting to make swords lol. I watched this as it came out every Saturday on toonami.
Not spoiling anything but instead of how ichi became a soul reaper, his dad became one the normal way by being well dead and in the soul society like everyone else.
And Yes Izan always has something to do with whatever is happening.

@@MegustaTaco completely subjective and most don’t agree. The writing becomes more complex after soul society arc. In what way does it fall off? Early arrancar ark i agree with. But the rest of the series is great

Most of the answers you're seeking are in future seasons. (cough : thousand year blood war arc ) We will be waiting for you there. Also a few Definition of terms. Vizards - Shinigami who acquired Hollow Powers. Arrancar. Hollows who are more Shinigami like?
You had some really great questions! It is going to take some time to get those answers and things go pretty deep. More will become clearer as they get to the end of the Arrancar Arc but I remember it being one hell of a ride :) Hope you continue to enjoy!

Lmfao. It takes different people different amounts of time. But its always worth it to see that moment when Ichigo's dad being a soul reaper clicks.

So the next 20 episodes are alright in terms of pacing but after that theres a stretch of another 20 after that where they really drag everything out. Even though they just had a long filler arc they were still too close to the manga so they tried their best to put as little in each episode as possible. And thats pretty much the case for the rest of the original series
Imo the peaks in this arc are way higher than in anything previously but since they are dragging things out theres a lot more low points to trog through unfortunately. One thing they do is put long recaps at the start of each episode. Sometimes if you forgot what happened or the previous episode was so good you want to see scenes from it again they can be ok to watch but mostly you should probably skip them. Just be extra careful not to skip anything new.
Thats why i said it might be worth doing 2 eps per video though and watching 1.5x the number of episode in one sitting. cause sometimes the recaps are so long that you essentially get 2 eps worth of content in 3 episodes. Or even less. Thats just the sad reality of older anime.
Isshin tied the charm to ichigo's physical body and kon is in ichigo's body so thats why he had it.
You will find all your answers in about 200-300 episodes and probably in the tybw arc the remaning story about isshin, no spoilers here. It will take you months, probably 6-8 months to reach to the conclusion

Isshin is one of my favorite shinigami
I like your thinking of Ichigo's bloodline, really opens up a whole lot of possibilities, but I think what the arrancar's saying is a bit simpler. There are 2 ways a soul can come into soul society, you can either be dead in the real world and your soul comes here, or you can be born just like how humans are born. I think the arrancar is just saying that Ichigo is the latter rather than the former one.
