The reason Gin didn't strike before was because of Kyoka Suigetsu; he needed wait for the right moment when he was sure he wasn't under an illusion, be in a position where he can touch the blade before it can be cast, while having his Bankai activated. It wasn't until Aizen merged with the Hogyoku that he became arrogant enough in his power that he let his guard down long enough for Gin to take advantage of it here.
true.
Aizen would have never let his guard down prior to merging with hogyokou 👍
Aizen knew gin would betray him lol he wanted to know how he will do it
Aizen is a big troll
@@yashmehta4087 And Gin is the only person smart enough to lie to everyone about how his sword works and never reveal the truth. Man has literally been fighting with half his sword's abilities just to have this one chance.
@@yashmehta4087 hey, its you again.
How are you?
I cant wait for cour 3 😫😭
Yep, also, his whole fight with Ichigo in FKT was just him showing off his fake bankai in order to further convince Aizen that it's abilities were what he said they were and to have an escuse to activate it
Notice that Gin's bankai turns his blade to dust just for a moment... just like Haineko.
How have I never seen anybody point this out before?
DAng. It's known that Zanpakuto powers reflect the character of the wielders. It shows how much Gin cares for Rankigu.
I love Kubo's foreshadowing. Kamishini no Yari (神殺鎗, God-Killing Spear). It was in front of anyone who knows Japanese or is willing to look up translations. Gin's Bankai exists solely to kill Aizen and it would have worked if the Hogyoku wasn't something that defied logic thanks to being created from _that_ (people who have read CFYOW know what I'm talking about).
===
Gin had to wait until Aizen let down his guard due to ego. Like he said, it took decades just to get Aizen to tell him Kyoka Suigetsu's weakness.
In the Shikai state, Gin's zanpakuto is the spear of God, meaning that it is a pawn of God, and in the Bankai state, it is the spear that brings God to his death.
Kubo-sensei's hobby is reading dictionaries, and he has included many Japanese word games in BLEACH.
Sorry if my translation is wrong.
@@user-an9wtpg8kh You're close and the symbolism you derived is still correct. Shinsō (神鎗, God Spear; Viz "Sacred Spear"). Names are power in the Bleachverse.
Kubo's hobby is why I recently started giving reactors the translations of names when I review their reactions.
@@jackwitt7430 I think that is a wonderful activity.
I recently learned that Sougyo no Kotowari(双魚理)is based on the Chinese tale "双鯉" as Kubo-sensei revealed.
Although this is not confirmed information, it is said that Kubo-sensei may have combined the words "双鯉" and "王(king)" to name it "双魚理", since Ukitake had the right arm of the spirit king.
@@user-an9wtpg8kh Ukitake having Mimihagi is the whole reason his Zanpakuto is dual zanpakuto. There are no natural dual zanpakuto. Sōgyo no Kotowari (双魚理, Truth of Pisces; Viz "Law of the Twin Fish") was always a clue that something was off.
@@jackwitt7430 Zangetsu and Kyoka Suigetsu are dual wield/dual spirit........
I’ve been waiting for these episodes. You are the only reactor I know that takes Gin and Rangikus backstory seriously.
Gin as a child witnessed Aizens men “steal apart of her soul” or power. When he witnessed this he vowed to seek revenge. It was only one flashback from Rangikus memories, but Gin did promise to protect her as a child. Amazing love story that goes unnoticed
Spoilers
It gets worse when you remember that the "soul" fragment was actually a piece of the Soul King as revealed in the novels which means Rangiku's potential was probably greatly crippled.
@@jackwitt7430 thats so sad she deserves that power back!
Also a little point that worth mentioning is that why gin did not do anything is because as he explained. He needed to be sure to get close enough to touch his real sword, and one mistake and it's gone. People need to realize Aizens power can make you pretty much go thru life like you think it's real, and EVERYTHING could of been fake.
Japanese fans have almost the same opinion. However, there is an interesting consideration, and there is also the opinion that not only his powers but also some of his "memories" were taken away. This memory is a memory of the casual everyday life that Gin and Rangiku spent together, and from the perspective of others, it is not a big memory, but Gin notices Rangiku's slight memory loss and tells her to say goodbye. So, it seems that he was trying to kill Aizen.
You’re way past this episode by now but just to sum it up in a non spoiler way, she had a special power in her soul which was a piece of a powerful being, she had the potential to be more powerful than she is but was robbed of it at a young age by Aizen.
What he took from her, he used to create his version of the hogyoku, which was half of what he needed to create the one we have now. The other half he needed was in rukia, placed there by urahara.
The long awaited episodes
The awaited episodes of awakening productions!
so there were originally 2 hogyokus that they explained when they took it out of rukia. both urahara and aizen ended up creating the same thing. Aizen tried to grow his hogyoku by feeding it and he ended up getting some of it from rangiku which is what gin witnessed in that scene. ultimately neither hogyoku was ever satiated. So aizen instead took the one hidden inside rukia and fed that one to his own and that became the completed one that he has now
Great explanation
Aizen took a part of Rangiku’s soul. Gin lived with Rangiku, so when that happened getting revenge on Aizen was his only goal.
Both Urahara and Aizen both had their own versions of the hogyoku. The thing with Rukia was Aizen need to steal Urahara’s to complete his
I fell şad for Gin here l agree withyou here my friend ❤
Didn't Aizen take the nail of the Soul King from her?
@@Alexandru-T. I don’t remember specifically, I remember her soul was special and it something to do with the soul king. It’s been a while since I got into CFYOW
Next two episodes are going to be so fucking fire!!!
I read the manga as it was released, and Gin releasing Kamishini no Yari at Aizen was the hot topic among the nerds in my school for the whole month
Aizen lowered his guard after fusing with hogykou, he would never let anyone touch his zanpakuto 👍
Yes your ritht here Aizen smart here have nice day❤
It's her soul that partially taken, if Aizen hasn't. She would have become quite a powerful Shinigami but her potential was harshly halt due to Aizen's influence.
Rukia had the hogyoku inside her in ep1
Gin waited this long because aizen never let his guard down
It' s only now wthat Aizen finally let his guard down, letting Gin to touch his blade like that. He went cocky since awakening from hogyoku. When asked by Urahara on that, he claimed that there is no longer need for him to be on guard. And you know what, he is right. Since Aizen have become immortal.
Yes your ritht here my friend Gin cold with it here but l fell şad for him
So, to explain what happened. When Gin and Rangiku were very young Aizen and his people stole "something" from Rangiku's soul, as well as souls of many others in Rukongai who had the potential to become Shinigami. This "something" was used to create Aizen's half of Hougyoku, which was then merged with Urahara;s half that was hidden in Rukia's soul. Gin witnessed what happened to Rangiku, that the process harmed her (which is probably why despite joining Shinigami around the same time as Gin, Rangiku only reached the rank of Leutenant, while Gin advanced to Captain). Gin's Bankai name translates as God-killing Spear, which foreshadows what his real goal was from the very start. Also, unlike his Shikai, which just extends the blade (as we see during the start of Soul Society arc when Gin uses it to send Ichigo and Jidanbo outside the gates), his Bankai briefly turns the blade into dust, which is exactly what Rangiku's Shikai does. This shows exactly how much he cares about her despite how he acts.
What exact;y Hougyoku is made of and what was stolen from Rangiku and other souls in Rukongai is revealed in the "Can't Fear Your Own World" novel that continues the story after the manga.
The relationship is Gin loved her from the 1st time he saw her, just before joining Aizen when he was just a boy younger than her. She suspects that, that's all. But Gin is the ultimate insider, never shows his true face until the job is done.
As you surely know by now, it's revealed in the next couple of episodes, Gin's purpose was to protect her, to never see her suffering again. That's why he join Aizen, he was aware nobody else had a better shot at killing Aizen than him. And he hid his true intentions for centuries, and his emotions burried under a sadistic facade! If that's not the ultimate insider job, I don't know what it! That's why he's my favorite character from Bleach.☠️
Really love the symbolism of Gin’s Shikai and Bankai names. The Shikai being God’s spear, showing how he seems to side with Aizen. While the Bankai is the God killing spear, showing his true goal which was to kill Aizen.
Story is Rangiku was a genius apparently. Aizen stole her quadruple digit iq to make his own hogyouku via stealing some of her soul. Because she was so smart it didn’t leave her a vegetable or stupid. Just with normal knowledge. Probably even more since she is a lieutenant. Anyway Gin saw that and vowed revenge. Also the connection with them was he loved her but never thought he deserved her and Rangiku had romantic feelings too. But nothing came of it. People may say I’m wrong but I read all these explanations from multiple places.
There it is there is the horn of salvation!
Gin and Rangikus relationship is the most hidden romance in the series
I love it is so sweet too l love them ❤
Actually it's one the most blatant romances in the show. While it gets more subtle when you are start talking Yuroichi and Kisuke or Ichiog and Rukia.
@@kidlif3853ichigo and rukia are like that only in the anime since producers pushed for this route to the point that Orihime was done dirty, a lot of her scene changed and made her look more and more a bystander cheerleading for ichigo, Kubo himself said he didn’t like at all how they portrayed Orihime.
I read the manga as it released. And after the Soul Society Arc, I knew Gin was against Aizen but working with him to find a chance to stop him. I said it forever. I was so satisfied when this happened. I called this literally years before it happened.
🔥Bleach🔥
Gin is king of the long con
Yes your ritht here my friend❤
"Why'd you wait this long?"
Aizen has literally never dropped his guard around Gin. A hundred years may have passed, but Aizen always kept his guard up with Gin. This was the first time he ever dropped it and Gin instantly tried to kill him. Gin has hated Aizen from the day the moment they met.
Nice off white or white sneakers... Dunks, Adidas Ultraboost or them Nike Air Max DNs all are nice to be honest. Another option is some Nike Pegasus 41s in a white colorway. All super clean and decent stylish and comfy (or at least way more comfy than AF1s).
At this point in the story Aizen has let his guard down a lot. Gin would have never pulled off what he did on a pre-hogyoku Aizen. Aizen would have been far more cautious and prepared as he was apparently aware of Gin's mission.
Aizen always has his guard up, he is too smart. Gin had to wait years to figure out his zanpakuto weakness. Also, Aizen was able to put the blame on Urahara 😂, so there's nothing Gin could have done to Aizen. Aizen would never let any one touch his zanpakuto. He became a god & lowered his guard 👍
Aizen trusted him, the hogyoku and |Aizen are in the same place, he knew touching the sword nullifies the illusion, he was in a perfect spot to grab the sword, Aizen almost killed Rangiku (again). Gin picked the perfect moment to strike. There wasn't this kind of opportunity before, else he would have took it. We're shown a flashback of Aizen's goons hurting and taking something from Rangiku, which Gin says he will kill Aizen for. What are you confused about ? Does he have to say "I love her" looking at the screen ?
Not exactly dark emotions, his Hollow represents his purest instinct.
Here he is, the Butterflaizen
The reason Gin took so long to try to kill Aizen is simply hesitation. Gin truly believed he alone is cunning enough, smart enough, and powerful enough to kill him. He saw Aizen as greatest evil, and in his mind he knew that if he fail nobody will be able to stop him. He also knew that he have only one chance or it is over, so he waited for the perfect opportunity.
That said he didn't expect that Aizen will become so much more powerful.
Never underestimate Aizen. Gin had to wait several decades to learn a one fault of his Zanpakuto which he already performed with all other officers while Gin got to him plus Gin had his whole will just to kill alone Aizen from hurting Rangiku
27:58 Aizens henchmen drained rangikus soul to feed the hogyoku to the point she almost died. Gin wanted to wait until the perfect chance to touch his blade before engaging and to get the hogyoku and return what aizen stole from rangiku. If you pay attention, gin never helped out aizen at fake karakura town. He was hoping someone would take him out. Aizen is always on guard, gin would have never been able to sneak him like he did just now. Aizen let his guard down cause of the power he gained. This was his best chance. Gins bankai is pretty op tbh, if it wasn't for the hogyoku, that would have been gg.
I'm glad you brought up the old comments about how Shikai and Bankai are manifestations of a persons inner struggles and turmoils. It's not even necessarily negative emotions, it can be otherwise positive emotions (in moderation) turned to negative ends, like perfectionism, pride, self-reliance etc. I really like how the zanpakuto force people to confront themselves, accept their flaws and work on them, to a point where they can eventually be drawn upon as strengths.
I also know the patreon series is well ahead of the youtube one, but I think this is where Kubo starts laying it on really thick that something is definitely up with "Zangetsu", particularly with the line of "We were both your power originally". There's a lot of foreshadowing here, particularly with the merged form.
Idk if it’s truly this way but Gin’s motives were simply to avenge Rangiku and kill Aizen because he’s evil. He played a REALLY long con, even though Aizen was onto him. But back then Aizen stole a part of Rangiku to feed to the Hogyoku.
White Tensa, might be the most powerful character we see in the series, literally handles Dangai Ichigo with zero effort needed.
Not sure if it actually works that way but.
The best romance stuff in Bleach is in episodes 11 and 12 of TYBW. Btw, there’s several episodes of that series with post credit scenes.
well remeber the pengiloum arc Hirako Sh didnt trust Aisen at any moment
30;04 basically both aisen and Urahara both created their own verions of Hugyoku,Urahara hid his in rukias gigai to make it self destruct in a way, by consuming rukias power, as i recall.Aisens Hugyoku was not as good of a version as Uraharas, Aisen fused with his and it gave him a power boost, but it wasnt the true power Aisen achived, he needed Uraharas, but Urahara fled to the real word.
the GLases guy with Urahara mentioed when he seen uraharas Hugyoku that its not a power but a presence of something.
She’s gonna be feeling it next episode. 😂
For extra info:
They stole a part of Rangikus soul, which was then placed into the incomplete Hōgyoku.
Gin wanted two things - revenge on Aizen for the theft and to get the missing piece back.
He also couldn't attack earlier, because he was still under Kyoka Suigetsu so he had to make sure he wasn't attacking an illusion.
Gin's Bankai turns into dust like Rangiku's Shikai. Ut it leaves a peace of poison in the enemy. It's quite beautifully written.
Your reactions are great, cant wait for more!
4:35 basicaly all Hollows are manifestations of these feelings, especialy if you recall espada and their aspects of death...
I'll see you all in 3 weeks when we get the next episode my friends.
She's completely caught up to TYBW over on patreon. Just saying.
that shirt is really cute. always a nice time watching your content
You interpreted Zangetsu and Ichigo’s conversation about what they fight to protect perfectly.
The next couple episodes are gonna be nuts lol.
Musings on the nature of Hollow Ichigo are always fun.
I'm surprised you didn't feel anything about the sacrifice of Gin. This is one of the most memorable storyline in the whole series.
aizen created the hogyoku with a piece of rangikus soul, thats why gin wanted revenge
12:11 People never notice this but gin touched Aizens hair here...at that speed its quite the lethal touch which made him him cut few particles of it
Great review! I really enjoyed it. I don't know anything about shoes. So during lunch I said doc marts and sneakers. And three coworkers just shouted suede clogs london/boston. So yeah 😅.
A few people somewhat touched on it, but I've always interpreted Gin's backstory to be a bit more dark and intense. They briefly showed that Soul Reapers working under Aizen had messed with Rangiku in some way. The pink energy they took is inferred to be a part of her spiritual pressure, which I assume is also apart of her soul.
I've always assumed that what they did, for the lack of a more polite way of saying: I think basically molested Rangiku's very soul, permanently taking a part of her that should have never been touched. This probably limited her full potential, and obviously was a traumatic experience. She's not shown to reflect on it in the series, because Rangiku is kind of a free spirit, and maybe learned to let it go. However, this didn't sit well with Gin, who probably saw this as a violation of her purity.
To me, this justifies Gin's extreme behavior: he couldn't accept the truly vile things that were done to her. Maybe this is an extreme take on everything, but Bleach was never afraid to address stuff like this.
She didn’t let it go, she didn’t know it because she lost her memory. Many think that the moment gin saved her and that she considers the first time they met was after this assault, that’s why her first memory is Gin saving her from starvation.
Plus what they took from her is a nail of the soul king, which are the sources of many fullbringers power.
The amount of fangirling is only matched by her stubbornness 😂😂🎉🥂 great reaction tho
Hollow inside Ichigio is more a manifestation of instinct than of negative emotions.
Best anime arc of all time don’t care what anyone says this arc and these next episodes are peak peak peak anime ever
Tower of god in 2 weeks! Hopefully you got space for it! :D
If not for the hogyuko, Aizen should have been dead there, but he really became careless after fusing with it. Aizen was always on guard prior to fusing with the hogyuko..
Rangiku's man was just trying to take back what was stolen from his girl.
This could be why rangiku couldn't be stronger than what she is now.
Gin didn't kill him early cuz he didn't knew what's the kyoka suigetsu weakness and even after he knew he need to wait for perfect opportunity cuz he cant go to aizen and say that he want to touch his sword 💀
24:57 that red part was Rangkius part of her soul some people say its her bankai and some say she had something special in her soul and Aizen took that from her soul thats why shes incapable of reaching Bankai...and Gin saw that and wanted to recover it from the Hogyoku back to Rangiku
She can reach bankai (but even if she couldn’t it wouldn’t be strange, thousands of shinigami can’t). Rangiku lost something that could have made her way more powerful than average captain, a nail of the soul king.
Gin name translated from hiragana (not kanji) means “one silver circle/ring”.
He isnt gonna tell him even if he asks
Nice more bleach.
And of course double thumbs up for the doc martens 👍👍
Now you know, Gin CAN REALLY HOLD GRUDGES.
To think that the only two companions Aizen had were with him just to "avenge their women" makes you think about how lonely Aizen really was.
Tosen wasn’t with him just for that, in cfyow you see how deep is his bond with Aizen to fight corruption.
cream boots? you wanted cream on your feet? PAUSE
i actually got Goosbumbs when Kanonji apeared....Jeasus i watched this show too many times.XD
32:40 also yes they have a consept of marrige but reguar soled dont have kids and dont marry, only the noble famillies have us that concept.
Kuchiki was about to marry or did marry Isane Rukias older sister.
i didnt think rankigu was wearing two rings, i tought it was a gift (just guessing) form Gin, its an empty hole presenting that somehthing is missing in her.A sertain part of her that was a rare acurence that happend to her that got stolen by Aisen.
Ichigo is the weirdest hybrid every existed. So many races mixed in 1.
It isn't weird. Substitute Shinigami candidates are all like that plus Ichgo has soul reaper hollow and quincy genes
@@killuazoldyk2727 Exactly. He is the only one who has so many different races in 1.
It’s 1000% romantic between Gin and Rangiku
You may be seeing these comments explaining that Aizen took a “part” of Rangiku’s soul. They don’t explain how significant that “part” is. The show won’t explain it either but that “part” is from something far greater. Rangiku was not the only one to receive it. Those who did have been some of the strongest characters in bleach. Though you won’t see them in this arc.
Aizen fed it to the hogyoku to awaken it. Gin wanted revenge for stealing such a significant part of rangiku. I’d like to think Aizen’s motives after this is what shaped his character. Finding something so significant and learning the truth behind it.
@yv8771 what exactly is this part tho?
I've also been trying to understand why it's so valuable
@@onyacharles3075The novels reveal that what Aizen took away from Rangiku is the Soul Kings Nail. She had a part of the Soul King in her Soul, his nail, which Aizen used to feed his Version of the Hogyoku
@@onyacharles3075nails of the soul king, that are not actually nails but particles, small parts of the soul king reiatsu. These are the source of the powers of the fullbringers.
@@Seijuku- what novel is that
Cfyow?
This is in the novels but when Aizen's men took part of rangiku's soul they took something very important and rangiku could've become much stronger if she had it. Kubo hates doing backstory so you will not get much details from manga or anime. He pushes the details to light novels and databooks. He even mentioned details of Aizen's backstory in unmasked databook.

Oh. I'm ridiculously early. Nice
It's never been officially stated, but the men that were working under Aizen basically physically and sexually assaulted Rangiku ; giving her a bloody nose , ripped clothes , and stole a part of her soul to feed to Aizen's prototype hogyoku.
So not only was part of her soul taken, but her virginity was as well. Gin.. unable to forgive them for taking what could not be returned to her vowed to kill Aizen with the single-minded purpose of revenge. He became like a snake for that purpose 🐍
