True when he said I am zangets for the first time my first thought was maybe they both were joined together at one point and then zangetsu said the same thing and when reading the tybw I realized I can tell what is the secret of different characters in anime.

The craziest thing about episodes like this is coming back and seeing all the little hints about the truth. Ichigo misunderstands White in this moment. I don't think White ever lies. And this is a great example of that. One day I hope someone asks Kubo if he had a lot of this planned out or if he was just making it all up as he went along. Either way it is super impressive.
Well, Kubo has a Q/A site he's been very active on for a while, and he did say that he always intended for Ichigo to be, well, the way he is, powers-wise. And he also always intended for Isshin to have been a Soul Reaper that lost his powers for a bit from the beginning. He also always meant for when the "Old Man" tried to tell Ichigo his "name" that that name was meant to be.... well... spoilers for any who hasn't seen the current stuff lol.
If I remember correctly, at the time when this episode was released, fans were calling him "Hollow Ichigo", or "White Ichigo". I, personally, went with Hollow Ichigo, or referred to him as "his inner Hollow", but to each their own. Also everything Hollow Ichigo says is so interesting and the explanation of it all is great, can't wait to see your reaction to it. Seeing you get captured by his strange choice of words and trying to piece any hidden meaning is exactly what I did as the episodes were coming out week-to-week.

I'm glad you picked up on their hollows being under control. A lot of people just say, "omg ichigo so op to them!" But it is as you say, ichigos hollow is unsurpressed chaotic power. It's like letting the dog off the leash and they are trying to show him how to get the dog back on it

I love how Hiyori started out talking big, then got checked. The look of genuine terror on her face after seeing what Ichigo's Inner Hollow could do was priceless.
Quite funny indeed. The most loud and aggressive memeber is the weakest one (not counting Hachi because he's useful in stuff other than direct combat), kinda like that one certain breed of dogs

Ichigo is too stubborn and he fears his Hollow too much. Because the experience when he took control of his body is very traumatic. It took every ounce of Ichigo's will to suppress him. And he's not sure if he can do it again, so he didn't want to release it at all. I always called the inner hollow of Ichigo - Hichigo...literally Hollow Ichigo. And yes, I think all the Vizards noticed that ichigo's inner hollow is especially strong. Hiyori had experienced it first hand, so she was really frightened.
It was also a Hollow that took Ichigo's Mom from him, so there's also the aspect of him not wanting to be associated with a power like that for that reason.
Also his first exposure to hollows was thru Rukia. And Rukia explanation was hollow = bad always. (Rukia wasn't herself well versed with Hueco Mundo and high class hollows)
[Tidbits & Clarifications]
- You are correct in understanding that the White Ichigo and the Old Man are both different parts of his power, that's important to understand because of what it symbolizes. Ichigo views the hollow part as something foreign or separate, the theme being to accept all parts of yourself, we all have aspects that may not be favorable but you can't grow by ignoring and villianizing them.
- It good to question what the "White Ichigo" is saying but it should also be taken in careful consideration, from what he's saying He is Zangetsu, though Ichigo doesn't pay that mind.

Think of it as a coin flip, with the two appearances being either side, whichever lands face up is in control, this analogy is a bit loose because it's not as easy as flipping a coin but i think you get what i'm trying to say
For now just keep in mind that zanpakutous are the manifestation of one's souls and the informations which Shiro/White gave us this episode. :D

No Ichigo and Zangestsu are not representations of each other they are two seperate souls. They are different beings Zangetsu is Zangetsu and Ichigo is Ichigo

@@mikecash2384 if zangetsu is ichigo how come its explained in the soul society lore that Zanpakto can die and the reaper will live so they aren't the same because if they were the same existence their lives would be linked
@@2bleachfans its also explained that after long the Zanpakuto turns back into asuachi... nice try only stating HALF of the lore .. and you forget that its also stated that shinigami literally "Imprint their souls" onto a asuachi creating a Zanpakuto? come on now do better
@@mikecash2384 you should do better too lets go another step further into the lore. It is stated that all members are given an asuachi to imprint their souls onto creating their own individual Zanpaktos. Why don't you do better too keeping out the most relevant part of the Asuachi

There's a fascinating explanation for what Zangetsu is saying. It isn't really a hostile entity to Ichigo, and everything it's saying is true. But it also isn't quite the full story, and that won't come for quite some time. There are some things that it doesn't know and can't really answer, and Ichigo would need to tease answers out elsewhere. You're on the right track with "they're all ichigo, just different 'parts' or facets of him".
The White "Zangetsu" is Zangetsu though, but you could also probably call him by the name 'White", as bleach has a really strong chapter naming theme with Ichigo being referred to as "Black" metaphorically (eg, black sun) and both his zanpakuto/inner hollow and oddly enough Rukia get "White" themes all having been referred to at some point as 'white moon'. Zangetsu itself translates roughly as "Slaying Moon", while Tensa Zangetsu is "Heaven Chain Slaying Moon".
This episode becomes so much important in the current TYBW arc, its carzy. People in the comments please dont spoil it for her.
