i have been looking for this for months and months everywhere I shop for this product. I'm so glad you have told us it's not available in US I will now buy on line. It truly does look amazing. I first learned about it last year around Christmas time can't wait to stamp without the hassle of fixing stamp every so often.

Stampin Up have known about this prob with clear stamps not sticking for ages. I really wish they would sell tacknpeel in their catalogue as that would solve all the problems. Thank you Frenchie for sharing this remedy with us. xx

The stamps not sticking is not exclusive to stampin up. There are LOTS of videos from other companies telling how to get there stamps to stick.

I saw the original video as well, and ordered the surgical spirit from Amazon. I am curious that people are saying it is the same as rubbing alcohol because if that is true, the rubbing alcohol would have been about 10 times cheaper. Anyway, it works like a dream. Thanks Frenchie.

You have been bought my friend, hook, line and sinker. Surgical spirit is alcohol, Google it. It is alcohol with menthol added. You can buy wintergreen alcohol which is basically the same thing and it's about $9.00 cheaper. Chemically speaking the menthol does nothing but make it smell good and give it a cooling effect. Since you aren't using it on a wound the cooling effect doesn't matter. You are selling snake oil to your customers. The hand sanitizer you were using would do the same thing. Someone pulled a fast one on you for sure. Check it out. Ask your doctor he will tell you.

Thanks Frenchie. I just did an experiment. I used rubbing alcohol, then the surgical spirits. Rubbing alcohol did not work. The surgical spirits did. Great, useful tip.

Methy Salicyate is NOT rubbing alcohol which is isopropyl alcohol.Look at the chemical composition, not the ingredients. Easier, just try using rubbing alcohol the way Frenchie is demonstrating. It does nothing to help the stamps cling. Rubbing alcohol does not form a film like the Methyl S. does. @ different animals.

They are the same product in regard to how they are used - they do not sell rubbing alcohol in England as people drink it straight so they added the menthol to stop people from drinking it. It would be my guess that having castor oil in it would hinder the stamp from sticking? Oil does not help something to stick so I will keep on using my regular rubbing alcohol, I think it is 70%.

In response to your statement Deborah Anne, when I saw the demonstrator mentioned in the credits, I contacted her and she said 70% or above rubbing alcohol will do the same. So I am using 91% purchased from my local drugstore. It was on sale, so I purchased 2 btls.

Ask your doctor, yes it is. It's alcohol with menthol added for a cooling effect and a preservative. It is what they call in the U.S. rubbing alcohol.

This is not rubbing alcohol. It is a plant based product commonly known as oil of wintergreen and is often used in joint pain rubbing products.

It is wintergreen alcohol with preservatives added. Look up the ingredients. That is what it is, but wintergreen alcohol/regular alcohol is about $9.00 cheaper. Don't believe me, ask your doctor the next time you see him. Unless maybe you have lots of money to burn? Also, alcohol can ruin rubber and acrylic so you have to use it with great care.

We got some of the Surgical Spirits yesterday and we are not having as much success as you. We have cleaned the stamp back with rubbing alcohol and block then put on the SS on the block, let it dry, then applied the stamp. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not. One would just not stick! Had to resort to a little tape on the stamp. Suggestions? We were very enthused but not so much now.
