Your ego is not your friend, it’s a survival mechanism that has evolved so much that we identify with it. To call your ego your friend (the voice in your head) then you are not realizing that the ego is false, you can’t befriend something that isn’t real. This is complete denial and leads to more suffering.
@@unconsciousimmortal Actually, the mind software probably hasn't developed "just as a survival mechanism", but as a way to make the universe experience itself, by following a natural growth led by your consciousness, which had to stay true to its own (emotional) needs. You may very well just say that "flowers aren't really something nice that grows naturally and you can enjoy, but rather a minor instance of a forest applying survival mechanism, so it doesn't make sense to ever befriend it". Your soul wants to experience its own growth, so why don't you do the same? ;) Like it or not, we're grounded in a reality, and it's easier to live voluntarily while taking on responsibility (and honestly searching for your own purpose) so that you can choose for yourself, than putting resistance to (aspects of) what you truly are, and being forced to face the consequences of leaving the responsibility up to others (including your ancestors who gave you the default software). That said, I'm assuming that you can synchronize and take control over your ego's goals (and most people naively victimize themselves by misunderstanding root issues of our society to by caused by malice and not just ignorance); suffering isn't supposed to be obligatory, but there are definitely physical feelings that are out of direct control of the ego (e.g. how depression correlates to the belief of where you're in the hierarchy of stability; search lobster for details :P).
True. The ego isn’t bad, it’s just a part of you that thinks it’s you- that does the thinking and calculating. Getting rid of it isn’t really doable, but it’s healthy to separate identity from it and help it evolve. I like this interpretation and analogy with the iceberg.

The ego is personal self versus our collective self. The ego will die on its own like a forgotten dream when we die. No need to rush it. Perhaps ghost are people who decide to hold on to the ego after death

I really needed some of this enlightenment. I was suffering from not understanding I am going through a temporary ego death. I feel like this cycle is finally rounding out, as I am seeking understanding of why I am always perceiving reality as a whole to the universe, instead of a singular being. I will work on this now I know it is in fact a cycle that we can experience while we are alive. Thank you so much.
The ego is ANYTHING that separates "you" from everything and everyone... we are all part of the same thing and it can be easy to become distracted and perhaps stray away from your path, but dont beat yourself up.. the real healing and learning is in the return.

The ego or "I" is an absolutely essential aspect of the Soul. The whole reason you are in this dualistic world is to individuate or to develop as an individual. We become the choices we make in each moment. After 30 years of spiritual awakening, meditation, and spiritual practice, I can say unequivocally that the ego has its origins in the evolving Soul. The spiritual life is not even possible without a strong enough ego. The ego become integrated with the Soul....the shadow is integrated with the ego. The Being becomes a unitary integrated Self that has a fully developed individuality and which is manifesting the Soul energy/consciousness on Earth.

Your ego is to help you make change and move forward in your life. It is more prevalent when we are younger because we need to drive our live in the right direction. It is a great tool. As we age, like the old bald guy professor, our egos tend to start to diminish as we see that we don't actually need it. In todays world many people do not like coming out of their comfort zone and therefore their ego will kick in and make a million and one excuses to get out of the situation. The ego is important as it helps you move into places you may not have done without it. It is also important to know that you should not use it on any other human. Thanks for sharing. :)
This life living in the physical in the body allows us to understand what we are on a deeper level, like the show says going with in the deeper level to what we really are, theres no other way this wouldnt have happened, we learn the term you dont always get what you want but you get what you need really means and how powerful it is, and life lessons and lessons in love can only happen in this life and learn how special that is, but it allows us to learn about us and go with in, ive always hated myself for crossdressing and always tried to stop but coudnt, my step dad didnt like it about me and told me when i was 18 i dont care you do it just never do it around me, and ive always suppressed myself and hated myself in a way but it would never stop, the souls not created that way. ive learned love comes from with in, you need to learn to love you and love your good your bad and appreciate you for you, you may learn you want to work on yourself things from trauma like over reacting about alot feeling like you dont have control but learning to gain control. But you open your mind to the uniqueness of humanity as a whole and realize we are all human but have different things we are capable of, our brains are so beautiful, ive learned from my last year how a woman across from me at work asked why me and my gf broke up, and i didnt care at this point, i took her to be like my step dad and said screw it, nothing can get worse than this so i told her i crossdress and her amazing reaction about it and how amazing she reacted to it inspired my soul to get out of its hole, my journey of self love and everything beyond it in loving humanity as a hole and just realizing if i can spread the word help us heal help the world heal there would never be war again i just know , i know this message ive learned in my travels the beauty in it of finding my true self through so much pain is just so beautiful, the gift of love and learning we are beings of love, being human, i just want to help people understand how amazing it is to be them and help them learn and understand the brain through how it talks to us, my brains been showing me images, fixing issues through showing me these images for my life to make peace with my hurt and pain and take the good away from it from realizing where all the pain came from and realizing it was never me and take away the good you can so you can make peace and move on with your journey, i cant help past that but i can help you get to were you need by your soul waking up and feeling like a rocket taking off, its still not easy, but you realize this journey will always be worth it dont give up

Through all of my experience in life which started as a Jehovah’s Witness with me getting baptized at 12 years old. My question started as early as I could remember and I feel That manipulation caused me to question everything and now is a man 39 years old I can truly say I’m happy because I see who and what I am. I now experience my life from the perspective that I am A infinite being that has been blessed with the opportunity to experience life in this physical realm through this material body. And it is trying to know itself just as I/source/god is trying to know itself. It is the same type of miracle on a different level. We share this space inside this body. Trying to draw a line between us is futile because we have been made one and we both have intentions for this body, both deserve there time in control to serve there interests. My physical self wants to explore and create in its physical realm and my Etherical self wants to explore and create in its realm. Both raising the understanding of self and everything else. And now that my eye is open I feel and identify myself more often from the higher perspective of myself looking out at my human wondering why am I feeling this way now, and the gives me the opportunity correct my behavior and ensure I am allowing only the constructive positive energy flow through me into this realm no matter the medium currently am playing in. My physical experience in this realm has been limited through physical handicaps but my comprehension of myself now gives me more comfort joy and great fullness than I can express through words. I just hope to be a example for people through my behavior and interactions as I continue to enjoy this creative space I am in as I continue to deepen my understanding of this and the infinite expansion.

Thank you for this video, it is great to know that more and more individuals are opening up to spirituality. But let me just add, the purpose of plant ceremonies, psylocibin etc is not to kill the ego but to experience ego death and MORE beyond that. It is just a part of the experience.

Ego is when one mistakes his Consciousness for his thoughts instead of being the Awareness in which they occur which creates a separate identity (the parable of the wave believing it is separate from the ocean) that exist only in thought past and future ( memory and imagination ) and it always needs to seek outside stimuli sex,drugs,movies,money,looks etc... but is never fulfilled and in the pursuit of these pleasures it creates suffering for itself and others. So how can one transcend this mind made identity : Other than practical thinking don't give energy to your thoughts just be aware of them without judgement and this observation can only occur in this moment and through this observation comes an understanding which puts and end to it. This is the transition from egoic into universal consciousness. Books I'd recommend : The power of now / Anything by J.krishnamurti.

While it might not be possible to precisely define what the ego is, it is possible to give good enough intuitions! There are so many names for it like "the it", "atman", "soul", "essence", "ego" or "self". But they all mean the same thing. The ego is what makes "us" us. The set of habits we have and many more things. The problem is, all those things are ever-changing! That's why Buddhism kinda denies the true existence of the ego/self!
Exactly, there is a difference between the perceiver and what is being perceived and this kind of entaglement can be undone through presence the light of your own being here and now

EGO IS BUT THE MAN TIED LOOKING AT THE WALL , unaware of the puppets feeding it to feed itself, its when he turns round that his real journey begins, its the start of th escape from egypt, then the wandering in the sands begin, where the descent into hadis to fight the devil starts, its when Adam had to name the animals by their nature so he could rule over them, its the female emotions, feeling that needs to come under control of the intellect , its ability to differentiate , identify, the pharao that sends him to battle to expand its power by ego and its horses following the ruler. feeding to feed its master .its the escape that is the start , its this identification that gives it its power , but its blind, it only gets its knowledge through the senses that are mere translators unable to see truth . building it habitual nature , careless of good or evil, for it only seeks of self ,their faces/masks are legion. each only alive by recognition of self, fear loving fear , on this journey picking up the animals male and female reflecting in and projecting out and only of letting go can one start to see the flame in the back of plato,s cave as the life force, the spark called soul, risen from the physical, risen from the mental, into pure soul awareness, the 3 part soul. in death we first loose the body, then the mental is left behind, the tunnel is seeing the soul rise higher. , in death the frequency is low enough to flat line, while in raising it its wave is so high it becomes a thick line too. near death and outer body closely related. but often a mere translation as its still seen through ego. drugs or raising frequency without the death of ego is like a one eyed king in the land of the blind. being spiritual isnt by what you believe, but your level of awareness of the true self. being spiritual has nothing to do with the amount one has collected through reading books or watching video,s about spiritual its true only in the search one can find, that when we let go of all we collected the search ends and discover it was always there. but our identification, the i think, and i feel was what kept us from seeing. and even the soul a mere illusion of a separate thing..

I’m glad you mentioned the Ascended Masters who return to 3D because they missed the feeling of physical incarnation.
I spent much of my life “pursuing” enlightenment and, when I fully experienced a return to Brahman (or Godhead or Source or whatever you wish to call it) I realized that HERE, in my ego, was actually what I Desired. And that incarnation is actually a product of the Source of all Creation, experiencing Desire, and thus Manifesting a means of fulfilling said Desire.
We all return to ONE. So enjoy separation in the Moment. Or, if you are ready, go back to the Source. But, if you are here, I feel its because you have chosen to be here.
We just forget, because we must believe in the Illusion of Maya to experience Separation. And Polarity is cool cause we get to hug each other and shit. Or punch people. Whatever your thing is. It’s all Good because its All for the sake of Experience.

The movie Revolver did a great job on explaining the ego! I would recommend anyone who is into this subject to watch it... One concept is that the devil came to roam the earth and tempt everyman.. What better way for him to do this other than manifesting himself inside of everyone's ego
I personally believe that the Ego is the self we show to those close to us, our Super Ego is what we want strangers to think we are (and maybe even who we want to be), and the Id is who we are in our minds, when you have angry or criminal thoughts before making the decision to do or not do the correlated action.
I believe EGO is survival. It always pushes me to where I have the best probabilities of surviving and therefore keeping everything for myself. EGO is a term to describe the "lowest" form of intelligence and functions of the brain / body mind. So, spiritual awakening is for me the realization that our senses can perceive only a part of this world so there must be something more out there. When you look into it you see that on scale there is so much more of that world that you can't perceive with your senses. So you realize that when you play with the mind that belongs in what you can perceive (EGO), then you play by the rules of this world. But when you play with that deeper sense of reality and you start to exercise your intuition (the sense of that which cannot perceived by your senses), you see that you can manifest anything in this world without the limitation of it's rules. You also realize that nothing has happened to you but you manifested all your life till now. Go live with that and love the present moment because you only exist (live) here. Thank you.
(Some things I talk about are proven with modern physics. Like "the field" which some call that higher sense of reality is the quantum field of all possibilities that we exist in it. Joe Dispenza does a great job explaining that concepts. Bruce Lipton too. Check them out! )

I think that we can establish or realize truly what the ego or self is after understanding astrology as well. The more you learn about your zodiac the more you realize some things are out of your power on how to act. But I do believe that we have an unlimited amount of selves.

It's my avatar! LOL! My "Electronic-Go" vessel, what's hosting my consciousness and "subconscious"... consisting of or along with some other forms of different consciousness that seem to come and go depending upon the state of mind.
We (the elect) are the heavenly host... Whom happen to be "God", itself, broken into 144k pieces to observe and monitor the upcoming events. We've been setting everything up this entire time without realizing it... just by being here!
We're capable of generating HUGE amounts of creative "juices" via thought, alone (achieved by others thru meditation)... and it's automatically sent out into fruition! 144,000 of us is equal to the power generated by the rest of humanity, combined! Only half are "corrupted" and very few of the other "savable" half are aware of anything at all beyond the 5 basic senses. No wonder it's gotten so chaotic!
We're the "antivirus" here to purge the wicked, bringing Heaven to Earth and a new Golden Age to humanity! Christ HAS returned in flex-mode and is ready to usher in a new dawn!!!

And that's just it.. as long as you are here, you have an ego. It is inevitable and inescapable. You may quiet it or silence it at times, but it does not die until you do, and even then it may be a part of soul on some level. The best we can hope for, is to be aware of ourselves, our thinking patterns, our actions and reactions, practice awareness, empathy, and compassion, and not let the ego completely take the reigns.
I’d like to say that defining the ego as the body of concepts, beliefs, emotions, and thought processes that are defined and identified by source of consciousness is very useful. Then what can be done to describe different egos is to say whether they are not self-aware, self-aware, individually, environmentally, or universally focused. Then they can also be described as secure, incidentally insecure, disidentified (meaning deeply lost in self), enlightened (meaning secure and universally focused), and maybe infinite or perfected ego/soul body (meaning dispersed ego that is universally focused and identifies with timeless absolutes). By my perspective the Ego is the connector of the Soul and Maya. The ego creates the mind and the mind creates the ego. To master spirituality we need to master the ego too, because as the ego is the representation of the soul on this reality, our Darma drives though the ego. Love

The beginning of this video was quite clear explaining that whatever you understand as ego it is your own explanation. So Freud and Jung had different views on this.
For me, there is no point in denying the ego as it is your own tool to experience the world and to transform it. It's through conscious thought (ego) that you might impress the unconscious mind. And the unconscious mind is your connection to the whole. By impressing the unconscious mind, you can impress the whole, and therefore you create your own reality.
Nothing indeed exists by mere chance and the concept of 'point of view'/'perspective' is one I've dabbled with for decades. Just like we have 'parallax' when observing the (known) cosmos, I see it as the Universal Consciousness living and being aware of googles of experiences simultaneously. The idea of new age idea of the Ego being a bad entity, called lower self, and the idea of a higher self. All but masculine mental seperation. If you let go of your identity and only believe in a higher self you don’t are, but have to achieve. You get nowhere.... you get a feeling of emptiness. You have to ACCEPT YOUR FLAWS. Yes your WILD Yes your a human being! A being of flesh which is formed of light. IF YOU WISH TO BE ENLIGHTENED? Don’t push your shadow away, don’t deny your EGO. Accept it, and then transcend it and understand you are everything. You can’t transcend something you push away or deny. Yes your a wild animal? SO what! Your also an enlightened soul that is inhabiting the human body which has to remember it IS enlightened all along. Life is a game of hide and seek. SO GET OUT OF HIDING.

As I have come to understand it, we are the conscious observers, and the ego is the sum of everything associated with our personalitys. And if you are not aware that you have control and shape the ego, the ego is happy to cling to bias opinions, bodily uncertainties and other weird illusions.
love is the key
i see the ego as the lenses in which consciousness observes itself. I try and not identify with the thoughts, feelings and emotions my ego produces. however it is very beneficial to acknowledge them and observe them as they pass
And all this happens on the same place, the same place where we can find our true being, the "thing" that makes us humans, a *brain* that represents our very identity in this world. For me, the true way of treating the ego is accepting it as part of us but not before understanding what truly is. The most important thing of all, for me, is to push a bit by bit those things that belongs on the unconscious to the conscious to be able to understand ourselves a bit more at each step and know a bit more of what is going on on the other side :D
I just made a video on the ego on this channel. It's weird how so many can go through life without knowing about that little voice in their head constantly narrating everything they do or feel. The ego isn't necessarily good or bad, it just is. You'll always have the ego, it's about recognising when it's being harsh or judgemental towards yourself and others.
