Considering future films will be set on earth and feature more human characters, I don’t see why he couldn’t have at least a small role. A lot of new actors will be joining the cast, including Michelle Yeoh.

Exactly. I like Remar in other things, but he would have been the wrong choice here. Biehn was clearly the right choice. And he didn't need a lot of words to make him a memorable character. He said a lot with just a look.

Yep. I started watching Alien 3 not knowing who was in it except Sigourney and was totally disappointed they didn't go along with a true sequel, maybe I was even angry a bit. The movie itself was okay, like all other Alien movies after were okay, some a bit better than others, but never seen a better one than Aliens. Even with all the tech they now have to make it all look so real etc, Aliens still is my favorite science fiction movie of all time.

@@branscombe_ Yeah, it isn't a bad movie at all on itself. Recently I watched Alien resurrection again and that one is very well made too. I even like the Alien vs Predator movies just for the fun of it. But I wish James Cameron would have the guts to make his own sequel to Aliens with a whole new twist of the story. Like Michael says, they can take your image and make a movie with computergraphics and they will get better and better, they can even make you look younger now, so a whole new twist on it can easily be made, I think(hope) at least.

Thanks for posting this interview, loved it. And how extremely ordinary Michael is, in a very good way, just an ordinary guy who happens to have a job as an actor and love it, but still stay normal, you know? Loved him ever since the first time I saw Terminator back in 85 or 86 and with all the goodlooking actors I grew up with, you know, a young woman idolizing male actors, he is the only one I would ever love to meet.
And he's right about being pissed of the way they removed Hicks from Alien 3, I was too when I started watching not knowing if he was in it. But, what if........someone, maybe James Cameron himself, would do a new sequel to Aliens, write a disclaimer at the start about 'you know how Alien 3 started....but what if the start would be different and...' and then indeed pull them 3 back in the story. I think it would be awesome is anyone had the guts to do that!

I have often wondered if Hicks sawn off shotgun scene 'for close encounters' was a nod to Reese in Terminator; regardless Michael Biehn is one of the most underrated actors of his generation and a fan favourite of mine, Hicks character deserved so much more and certainly not what Alien 3 did, which was a shocking betrayal to the actor and fans of the franchise. I still believe Alien 3 and Resurrection should be reomved from the timeline as hyperspace nightmares, the BlomKamp movie would have been amazing.

He sounds like a hard luck story in a lot of ways in terms of not being able to secure that A list actor tag in more movies over a longer period. A lot of things didn’t go his way in terms of follow up and new big roles and it seems a lot was to do with politics, powerful people at studios making the wrong calls, but maybe he could have pushed harder to make some of these things happen. Be that commanding presence that makes things happen, pushed back hard when someone wants to go in a direction you don’t, pick up the phone to someone else and try and make it happen. Which is what James Cameron would do. Arnold etc. Seems he was someone who was accepting in letting the chips fall how they may and if it’s good or bad let’s see what happens.

56:50 Saying that Fincher killed Hicks and Newt is not 100% accurate. Fincher was forced to work with a script he didn't like and didn't want. His only "choice" was to finish the movie or walk away. That movie was toxic waste before it was even made. Studio greed, big egos, etc. Rex Pickett already gave us the ultimate behind the scenes of how that sausage was made, and it was disgusting.
btw, that movie could not have been made without Sigourney Weaver. She certainly had more pull than Fincher, sided with the wrong people, was only interested in her record-breaking paycheck, and helped destroy what Aliens had created.

I do respect what Arnold is saying though I'm confused on what makes the Republican way the right way though I understand that is his belief. What we are seeing has been around for a long time. Trump just allowed the quiet part to be said out loud again. It existed in the Democratic party as Dixiecrats and moved to the Republican Party. Both parties should balance out each other but right now we are beyond that. So what is the Republican way he speaks of that works? It can't be the budget because it's been sometime since Republicans have balanced the budget. Historically, the United States economy has performed better on average under the administration of Democratic presidents than Republican presidents since World War II.
