Crust
3 cups of flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold water
11/4 cup shortening
Filling
3 can condense milk
10 large lime ,or more if you like it more sour
6 egg yolks
Meringue
6 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 table spoon cream of tartar

Hi Natasha I have been following on recipes esp on lemon pie but I have a great concern and wish you can help.
I follow all your instruction but want to know if the filling and crust is cooled before adding the meringue or
The meringue is added on hot filling bc
I’m trying for the wetness between the filling and meringue not to happen

Veronica Lopez hi I’m not sure where in Belize u can get cream of tartar but If you can’t get cream of tartar you can substitute lemon juice ,so if the recipe calls for a quarter teaspoon cream of tartar just replaced it with a quarter teaspoon lemon juice

You can use either one, growing up in Belize lemon was very hard to find so we just use lime but either one will do.
What’s the filling
The feeling is made with sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and Egg yolks
Sweetened condensed milk should never be in any lemon pie...I made one with condensed milk and itcwas thevworse lemon pie I ate in my life
