  • I measured my Mother and Father's height on the stadiometer.
How tall were they in their Prime and what height are they now.
Mother age 77, Father age 86. How many inches have they shrunk?
Many thanks to my parents for agreeing to take part in this CelebHeights video and having their measurement recorded.
Height Measurement Results and Height Loss:
    Mother in Prime 5ft 5. Height in July 2022, age 77 - 5ft 3
    Father in prime 5ft 9.75. Height in July 2022, age 86 - within 5ft 6.75 - 5ft 7 range.
My Father has lost more height in the last few years with more health issues and his kyphosis (spinal/neck curvature) becoming even more pronounced. When 'Standing tall' even the highpoint of his head (crown) couldn't quite fit under my stadiometer properly.

The average man loses 1/4" to 1/3" every decade between 30 and 70, which comes out to a little over 1" by 70 and then they lose another 1" between 70 and 80, where as women lose 1/2" every decade between 30 and 70, which comes out to 2" height loss by 70 and they lose another 1.25" between 70 and 80 and after 80, height loss increases even more.

My hyperlordosis is pretty bad (had it since I was a kid). My brother measured me recently and I've been getting 185.5 cm in the evening. That's taller than before I started doing the exercises weeks ago (under 185cm). However when I measure myself I get more or less 185cm. We do it the exact same method. The end of the book (the binder thing) and place it horizontally against the wall (the bottom of the book that is) until it reaches my head. Which measurement do you think is more accurate?
