Best. Knife. Ever.
You know it brotha!
Two of my favorite youtubers and hobbies in the same comment thread. Awestruck.
....Inkosi
Clay Daniel the Inkosi is better
Bought a Sebenza when Chris Reeves was still making them by hand. I have carried it for twenty two years . I own hundreds of knives from high end manufacturing, to hand made customs. Plain and simple truth is time tested is the only measure of a knife. I'm always amused when comparisons are done, there is no comparison available. Nothing wrong with flashy fun, but I've met the man he's hardcore ,he makes hardcore precision period.
The Boker Mermaid is the only grail knife🤣🤣!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have no arguments against that and I love this inside joke!
Poseidon would be proud.
believe me, getting a crk all scratched up and used feels good and is almost a badge of honor haha my sebenza 25 is all scratched up and I love it to death
Wow, that is "knife love" when you count the jimping serrations! I think a lot of people fall in love with the Chris Reeve knives once they give them a hard look and/or get them in hand.
I owned a Chris Reeves Sebenza many years ago and sold it. Talon, thank for reminding me that I owned the knife before you were born ;) In the back of my mind I've compared every knife I have purchased to that Chris Reeve knife. Your video just brought it all home that price shouldn't be the ONLY factor in purchases of things you love.
Recently, I decided it was better to have a few high quality knives as opposed to a lot of mid-level/low level knives. This happened after getting into the "If you don't love it get rid of it" vibe. More to the point of the video I did order a carbon fiber inlay Sebenza because I have been reminded of the impressive properties of the Chris Reeve line. When it arrives I'll be re-accessing my collection and thinning my knife inventory.
One last thing. The Chris Reeve knives seem to look even better with wear (from what I see on online postings). That is a testament to the uniqueness of the line.
I’ve wanted a Sebenza ever since I first got my hands on one at a knife show here in my hometown like 5 yrs ago. Everything you hear about the smoothness of the action and the tightness of the lock-up and all that is 100% true. It really is something you have to experience personally in order to fully appreciate. Now that I’m both willing and able to put up the kind of money that one of these gorgeous knives commands, I find myself in quite a dilemma... Now that the Sebenza 31 has come out, I don’t know whether to get it or the 21. The 31 is the new hotness and they got rid of that locating hole for the new design which I like, but with that they also are using a new inlay style and I actually prefer the inlay style of the 21 to the style on the 31. Also, it’s my understanding that CRK is making the switch from S35VN blade steel to S45VN steel as soon as they exhaust their current supply of the S35VN. So do I buy one now and satisfy that itch as fast as possible? Or do I wait for the S45VN since it’s a knife I plan on using and keeping for the rest of my life? I realize these are all some real “first world issues”, but they are issues none the less and they need resolving before I can make my purchase. Advice???
That does sound like a dilema! Idk, I would wait till' the S45VN comes out, but if you want one, would go for the 21 imo!
S45 has been released on the last batch of umnumzaan. Also on my new 31 birthcard it has a check box for s45vn now. It'll be here on all knives soon.
You can’t go wrong with either. I own a 21 and 31 micarta. But I do want a s45vn also. So my advice get both. Lol
Im a knife nut here too!... just picked up the Sebenza 21 in ladder damascus and striped platan inlays (looked up wood... I believe its also a type of stabilized sycamore)
Love this knife! And it will be used and loved daily as it should be!
I love S35VN, so easy to sharpen
It's all in the details- I like the fact that the appeal of CRK's go right over the heads of a lot of people.
All I can say is WOW! Thanks for taking the time to show us a true work of Art! Love the quality and attention to detail! 🐼🐼🐼
I'm a broke ass mechanic and I had the opportunity to purchase a barely used diamond plate large sebenza and jumped on it! It too was my exact grail knife and was able to acquire it slightly discounted at the time. They were going for about 475.00 at the time and I got mine for 350.00! I'm guessing about 10 years ago, and still in my everyday rotation! Great knife! Great video! Thanks Talon Sei!
Just bought a large 31 to go along with my 21 tanto... The 31 has the absolute BEST feeling pivot of any CRK I've handled thus far.
I think most people who complain about sebenza blades being soft or chippy are referring to the early sebenzas which were made with s30v, the blade steel was changed to s35 a few years ago and it is AWESOME
Awesome pocket knife Talon! Great review as always!
As a hobby mechanic and one appreciates precision made tools, I couldn't agree more. Bought my first Sebenza in 2012 and for financial reasons sold it. After 7 years of carrying cheaper folders (some very very cheap), I have a small 21 micarta. What a wonderfully made knife. That glass and oil analogy is pretty much spot on. It's frictionless, and perfectly dampened. I've only ever owned small Sebenzas. I hope I can hold out long enough to not buy a large...for my wallet's sake.
Great video. You hit the nail directly on the head. It's a beautiful thing that Sebenza.
Talon, I couldn’t agree more. CRK is worth the price. Anyone hating on this video either doesn’t appreciate the finer things in life or is never held a Sebenza or CRK. Great video! 👍
Kudos for it being made in USA. I love that click-open sounds. I have a tanto-blade benchmade that is very similar to this one. Perfect box-cutters
Thank you for this video. Didn't see the appeal for these knives but you have explained this knife pretty well
Perfect choice, on the blade and the handle!
Great video, awesome knife! This week I receive my Inkosi Tanto Black Micarta and my Umnumzaan to add to my existing 2 Sebenza’s standard and spalted beech, Umnumzaan drop point and my two Inkosi’s - just love these knives and I get a razor sharp edge that has lasted forever!
Great video. I have a Small Sebenza 21 Insingo. The large should be here tomorrow ...
You pay for perfection. Great review..🤘
Ahh, a fellow Bulova Precisionist owner. I see you are a man of culture as well. I found you through the blade HQ video you did recently, and I'm glad I did. I really enjoy your content. The videos you do are well produced and well presented. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Adron, welcome to the channel!
Been loving the salt towards the haters always complaining about prices. Keep it going!
The best box cutter and envelope opener on the market hands down
This is a pretty accurate representation of the battle most of us have with the quality/cost scenario... I recently ordered my own Sebenza and the amount of anxiety and second guessing was quite high, but at the same time, I -knew- I was purchasing one of the best tools I ever could. I've played with and owned probably nearing 100 knives in my life (32yrs) and after handling this one, everything just clicked. I won't see my blade for 9 months, but that's okay by me.
But you really do reach a point of diminishing returns. At around the $200 mark you'll get a knife that if cared for will last a life time. The CRK does have its pro, and IF you find value in it, then by all means. Plus you get bragging rights. Unless, you, lose it. In which case people can and should make fun of you. :) lol I've lost my $250 hogue.
Price can be argued about anything in life. Hi-point or Glock? Honda or Mercedes? Talon isn’t asking for your bank account number and buying the knife for you. Just a video explaining a high end tool that he’s come to enjoy. I personally wouldn’t buy it, but only because I’d probably end up losing a finger and then I’m the guy who paid $500 to give high fours.
Dont get all these broke boys triggered lol
What about Reeve's knife or Glock?
But to put the PM2 aside? No, just... no.
I'd rather by a Glock. You get more bang for your buck. LOL (In fact, I did just buy a Glock.)
I was able to experience a small 21 and I agree it is one that I would need to own at some point.
I have the small Inkosi. It’s my favorite knife in my collection. Amazingly well made knifes.
I think the people who have you a thumbs down. Didn't watch it till the end. Everything got said was logical and reasonable. Looks like a great knife. I'll keep that designer in mind. Great vid as usual. Keep up the great content. Peace.
Really good/beautiful looking edc knifes looks reviews!!!
Awesome review! I love my large Sebenza 21. It has been my edc knife for the past two years. I just received it back from the “spa treatment” where they refinished the titanium and sharpened the blade and now it looks brand new again. Worth every penny!! Keep up the good work!! #depestvloginthegame
Pretty sure flipping the washers around won’t have any affect on the centering I have 6 21’s and never had that issue.
Got a large 21 too. You are bang on in your review. Saying that, I EDC my S110V PM2 (Blurple) more often. (Just cant resist Spydy flicking!)
Definitely my ideal EDC knife, once I have enough money for it I’m buying it no doubt 🙏
You ever get it?
Man you got the tanto that I want. But in left hand. Congrats on the new knives.
The best and worst part of owning a Sebenza is that soon you'll want another one. I just ordered my 2nd Sebenza 21, this one in Bog Oak. My first one is the Lunar Landing version and I want to preserve it. That said, it's been in my pocket every day since I got it. I say to each their own when it comes to how people spend their money.
Great review! In my opinion you make outstanding videos. Knowing me, if I bought that knife, it would be a safe queen. I do it with my watches. I have a sale or trade up mentality.
Some things you just got to experience, if you'd pay 500 for a phone but think a Chris Reeves knife is too expensive your priorities are a little different than most knife guys anyway, why are you here?🤔
Because you can and want to! And it’s DOPE! “Do your thang, do whatcha wanna do!” 👌🏻🔪🔥🤘🏼
The "simplicity" in the design is what i like with the 21. Not a fan of S35VN but over all love the CRK. just my take on it.
Welcome aboard brother 👊
I recently finally tried the Chris reeve koolaide and...yep it’s delicious. I get it now
Hahaha great intro. My first thought when seeing the title, “damn that’s expensive..”
Love my Sebenza 21. Expensive blades are a slippery slope.
Nice knife. It’s worth the money. I would buy one just need to decide if I really want it.
Sebenzas are amazing and people may complain ergo and steel. For me S30V and S35VN are perfect all around steel and my favorite steels for pocket knife. M390 AND CTS XHP are the only steels I like close to CPM S35VN and CPM S30V. I know some people will love M4 or Elmax. But for me they are just edge retention steels. I like everything in a Steel like CPM 3V my favorite steel for fix place camp/hunting/bushcraft steel.
I have the umnumzann I EDC use it for work. Awesome knife and very strong. Why buy a Ferrari or lambo and not drive it like it was intended too!! Lol CRK has a great warranty and also offer a service to completely refurb the knife and get it back like new for a fair price
Awesome review. I found a lunar landing I might grab for myself, this definitely helped me decide. 👊🏻
I got a lunar landing large 31 a month ago and love it. I love the action on the 31.
awesome knife!
The Chris Reeve Large Inkosi is my next Grail knife. I recently got a Gen 6 Hinderer that was also in my list.
Got a large 21 , it is nice, no doubt. One can argue that you could get just as much knife out there for less or same price. If I could change anything, I’d add a deep carry clip, better steel (m390 or 20cv) and the ability to flicker. Not being able to flicker it annoys me. But having said that, it is a pretty awesome knife. I got the Wilson Combat version, it looks sick!
Sold! Large or small, I'm still on the fence. But, your description sold me. I look at it like this . . . It's $50 bucks a year for 11 years. It's a bargain. Oh, and great video!
Great video! I hope to have own one someday
Cool video, man.
Nice knife. Thanks.
Love CR knives. Love my 208 gear
When are you getting the Sebenza 31 and doing a review and/or comparison (to the 21) video?
Solid review video! Is there anything you came across that made you want to find something else to use other than the Sebenza in your pocket? I do like a tanto style knife, I have a small HK"Benchmade" auto knife and have used it like crazy. I've been thinking of a Chris Reeves knife but hard to pick one. Thanks for your time!
Great video awesome knife to expensive for me but congratulations on getting one very cool man
Super cool and I'd totally buy if I didn't have a 940 already. Maybe in the future.
LOL, i Just counted the jimping on my 21 and found out there are 21! Just realized after watching your review!
I've been debating getting one for some time now
10:33 get you someone who looks at you the way Talon looks at his Sebenza. Great review.
I just picked up the same knife but with the insingo blade shape. I’ve owned tons of good knives from spyderco, benchmade and others . I thought I had a good collection at that time and never could bring myself to ever spend the money on a sabenza . In fact I though it was stupid to do so. Fast forward to now and all my other knives just don’t compare. You really can’t respect a knife like this without holding one in real life. It was worth it for sure
Love my Sebenza 21s. Gotta check out the Wilson Combat Starbenza. Now, if I could just get my hands on a Nighthawk Agent 2...
$200 is about the top ill pay for a carry knife, I do love the tanto blade on that knife. Current carry is a ZT0450 CF
Very nice looking knife unfortunately I could never afford one but if I did ever have one I would use it for work as well that's what a knife is for even though it is very beautiful
Good shit man, if I had that money I would definitely buy one. One of these days for sure. Absolutely Awesome knife
Put loctite in the the lanyard pin hole and it keeps the pin rattle free. Did it to mine 2 years ago and haven't had any issues (I carry my Small Sebenza 21 everyday)
Sweet knife. It may give my Ozark Trails Custom some competition.
Good Review
nice. I've been looking at these for awhile now something with wood inlay like the burl. maybe in a seb31
you got me counting the jimping on mine 😆
Nothing better.
So nice to see that amazing knifes origin are where I'm from South Africa, and he's right Sebenza is Zulu for work. Just one thing that knife is worth one month's salary here lol
My Sebenza 21 is in hand while watching this video !!
I had a Small Sebenza 21, but it got stolen. Now I carry a Koenig Arius. I do want another Sebenza though!
Best video ever
It’s about the experience. Like in cars for example, the object is to be able to move from A to B, but in X car it can an “experience”, same as a watch, or a knife.
Some people just see the objective, but not the feeling as you achieve the objective, like cutting a box open.
Once again awsome video I love that knife I will own one someday as far as people saying it costs to much money if you work and save your money to buy a finer thing in life be it a car or gun or knife or whatever it's your money buy what you want people are going to hate on things they have to work for
I love the way it looks and that it's a work horse but $400 is a lot of money
Best knife ever.
I have a question since you are a gun and knife guy what’s your take on Benchmade destroying guns and on that I wanted the 365 Outlast when it came out but now I’m on the fence
Best knife made
Talon do sharpen you own knives? Is so, how do you do it?
Matt Jones he has a video about your question
@@codys5727 Been using it for years, admittedly on less expensive knifes... But it works great.
@@seymour2113 I can't find it, would you happen to know which video?
First learn the difference between sharpening and re profiling.
Sean H why does he need to learn the difference before he watches the video???
Haters are going to hate. Awesome video. Stuff and things rule🤜
This is one of those products from the “If you don’t ‘get it’, don’t get it” category of life. Yikes... I get it, but dang.
Buy what you like. Use it how ever you want. That is just one of my grail knives
I just bought one after watching this
If it brings you joy then it is worth it
Luxury and precision come at a price. How much something is worth to someone is an individual decision.
How do you do that lanyard round thing on the thumbnail I need to know
What up Talon? Dope ass knife! Keep up the great work! #dopestvloginthegame
Beautiful knife, I’ll take that lanyard pin if you don’t want it 😀
So much Yes on this video!
Discontinued ZT Knife- I'm Talon's most expensive knife
Chris Reeves Sebenza- Hold my beer...
Still love my colonel blade folder
I can see you getting a Medford slim midi
nice knife good
One of many knives that have been a catch and release for me. I get it. It’s sweet, but it didn’t end up in my pocket over other knives. One that all serious knife people need to try but it’s definitely not for everyone. Especially not for the thumb hole lovers.
Have you been to university rifle club in Exeter PA. It's an awesome range
