I’m not a technic guy but I find your building reviews always so relaxing to watch and listen to!
Sometimes less is more. I actually like the shaping of the smaller car better than the big one. Using a flex tube to represent coloured striping is so much more "lego" than using just more stickers.
In terms of value for money, I know what I prefer!
True
Tires! Why do they keep getting these wrong?! If they're going to continue to make F1 cars, make different molds for the front and rear tires! Other than that, I like these two even though I'm not an F1 fan.
The current f1 cars have identical wheels front and rear
@@kihgu That's incorrect. The tires are always narrower at the front than they are at the rear. It's been the case for F1 for many decades. Mainly when they started to do mid-engine configurations. 🙂
The reason this is the case is because if you make a separate mold for front and rear wheel is very costly for the company
@@kihgu Look up the 2023 model of this vehicle on the official Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 site, the one the set is based on. It's the first image on the main page and the front tires are clearly narrower than the rear.
@@JustmeSean1971 They've been making bespoke pieces for sets for decades. They've also been making record profits the past few years, I think they can afford to include properly proportioned tires.
Thanks!! Always a great and informative review!! Can't wait till the next one!!
I really like your building reviews as they are detailed and great honestly 10/10
Finally!! I have waited so long for this video 😍😍😍
I have been waiting for this video for so long. LOVED IT!!!
I hope in the future Lego will come up with some rally car stuff in the Technic format in the future. I am dreaming about building a WRC Ford Puma or the Hyundai. I kinda missed out on the previous ones that were released years ago.
There is a technically rally car lego sells right now, just not WRC lol. The Audi RS Q e-tron, 42160.
@@Lepo4256 Yeah, that one I am very 50/50 on. It looks really cool and definitely is a fun build, but the remote control stuff kinda throws me off. I am waiting for that Audi RS to go on sale and I will definitely get it.
@@Spetz33 it's on sale rn on amazon for $CA 180
I have been waiting for this !!!
Your voice is so clear and it is very relaxing and your vids relieve stress after a long day of work! That’s why I will continue to LOVE your videos
Yasssss waiting for this one finally
They look fantastic, a must for my collection … great video
I love the sets! The small one is cute and looks nice for the scale
And the big one is also very cool with the functions but I'm not so sold on some design choices
Here we go!!! 🦾🏁
Can't wait to see the comparison to the other F1 sets!
One word... wow😍😍
Thanks for the review Balázs. It's a bit unfortunate that they made the same steering mistake they did with mclaren before. The good thing about the set is the slick rubber, the design of the engine compartment and the possibility of removing the engine cover. it looks like it has better suspension than the McLaren. For me personally, what is a no-go is the upper part of the first nose cone.
This makes me want to put together the speed champions version in my backlog.
I bought the pull back today, 42165. I am super happy because it reminds of a toy car as a kid. One of the reasons I bought this one over the other because it looks very accurate. Good value for the price, $35 CDN! 10/10
I got the 171 the day after release, it is probably the most beautiful set Ive ever assembled. the stickers was the biggest hurdle but they came out alright, im a little dissapointed with the rear wing and front nose flexibility so I might go back and stiffen them. I had a lot of fun considering its my first technic set, I cant wait for a ferrari or classic F1 or LMP sets
Yuppi its finally comes:)
The new slick tires are so beautiful!
Well you should wait a day to watch the next video to see actual beautiful ... and properly offset ... and also PRINTED slick tires on the CaDA F1 car.
Great job!
HELLO Racing brick I’m a huge fan and keep it up
You know you have subconsciously been waiting for this video to come out 🔥
Even when the tires are off the car looks super cool in general. I will buy it on the second hand market someday.
You know you have subconsciously been waiting for this video to come out
Great video. I was waiting for this one so thank you. I do not care about non-racing cars so I never bothered with the big Technic cars but I really care about licensed racing cars so this is must have for me to add to the collection. I would personally prefer something from IMSA racing like Acura or Cadillac GTP or a GT3 car (Corvette would be awesome) but I guess F1 is also fine.
I would have loved to see the little speed champion in there for scale as well.
You should've put the Speed Champions version next to these! 😂 Great review as always!👍
Finally🎉🎉🎉🎉 Whoo!!!!
The suspension on the larger one reminds me of a similar build in an earlier set (set 42000) and I had issues with the axle connectors in the joints breaking. In that design I think they were under very slight stress constantly so it may not be an issue on the newer one.
Thank you for the steering wheel clarification, I was getting really frustrated lol
Mine is Aligned
I think that it would be great to put these slick tires on some fast rc car and test if it drifts.
That CaDa set looks really exciting! They also made a 1:24 version of the alfa romeo f1 car, maybe you could compare it to speed champions?
great video, love the car and building concepts used, could have made bigger rear end wheels
i really don't understand what lego has against making correct tyres for these sets. If you are making a new tyre for the cars and making them slick, you might as well make it correct, thankfully the tires on the Mercedes don't look bad but the mp4/4 was just violated.
Anyways great review Balazs, as always?
exactly every bit of that is true
@@underverse8ok
i really love both sets. i don't really feel like becoming finantially unstable so i don't think i'll be getting the bigger set however i do like it more. i definitly wish they made the rear tires bigger than the fronts but i really don't mind it that much. also i'll always wish for more printed peices rather than having stickers but i'll survive.
Best design and glad that Petronas Syntium sticker here 😊😊😊😊😊
awesome video, i don't like F1 cars that much, but your Videos are always fun
i must say, your whining about stickers is making me enjoy this year reviews MORE!
it makes me giggle out load every time, especially after you pointed it out in the other video.
Keep it up!
These stickers are killing me!
I'm not a big fan of F1 cars because they all tend to look exactly the same as one another except for the liveries, but I have to say I really love the big one here. The livery and shape were both well represented except for the rear tires being the same size as front.
The larger model looks phenomenal while the pull back looks like it would be right at home with the Speed Champions line up. Scale doesn't feel too far off. Not really a piece per price person and while it builds impressively big, and looks great the $285 Canadian feels a bit much for less than 2000 pieces. I feel this could be explained in the future video as $220 already feels quite steep.
Hey, i was wondering if you can say me where do you get your sets from this early? :)
Beautiful AMG 1:8, but I'll wait(...) for the Red Bull RB19...
Will the engine cover fall off if I’m hanging this set on my wall vertically?
I have 3 extra pieces after the first stage did i do something wrong or are they extra pieces
Great video as always. The build looks actually nicer in the video than the pictures. The one attention of detail that I really like is the red Mercedes logo. If I’m guessing it’s a singular small sticker and I’m sure it’s sort of painful to put it on
It was, especially because I thought I dropped it, was looking for it for about 10 minutes, and finally found it on the back of my hand
There is a way to center the steering wheel, when installing the black 12 tooth gear on the steering rack have it be one tooth over rather than vertical.
Technically that's still not centered
Glad they corrected the halo, that's why I never got the mc laren. Now next car should be a Red Bull please...
Great review! Can't wait for tomorrow's rant, I mean objective comparison. ;)
nice
Great video, as always! I was afraid that the idea of merging the two videos would have a weird and confusing outcome, but in the end it appeared that the video was pure quality. Can't wait for tomorrow's release! If i'm not mistaken, there is a McLaren formula e pullback set, that would have also working steering. You've made a preview video quite some time ago, but we haven't heard of it in a long time. Have I lost anything or we will see it in the near future?
The McLaren Formula E set will also be reviewed, there are simply too many releases for March :)
I would like to see how these slick tires compare to the slick tires in the Senna set, in terms of size.
I prefer the pull-back version. I think it would look even better with the wheel caps in line with the tyre outsides.
The large one doesn't have anything going over the Technic Williams I already have. The rear tyres should be wider, and at least some functional DRS-system. The non-aligning steering wheel looks bad. Glad I'm not a fan of Mercedes in F1. But I love your reviews!
at least this one comes with an actual diff
Are you going to take a look at the 42169 McLaren E Formula car (with the 2 pullback motors).?
A comparison (parts, build techniques, features and motor performance) between 42165 and 42169 could be interesting.
5:36 is the engine cover suppose to be loose after fit into main body?
We NEED a comparison between the 42156 vs 76909 Please!
How does the Pull-Back version compare to the McLaren Speed Champions F1 car from the other day, and the Mercedes F1 W12 Speed Champions (76909)?
A working DRS would be a nice. And NO stickers! Real F1 fans would love to pay more if it were printed parts. How much extra would that cost?
Great review, thanks again!
Personally I would prefer a Red Bull, specifically the white one, homage to Japan/Honda.
The bump on the nose doesn't look as pertruding as I thought, but the pictures by Lego didn't make it justice I believe. But I do have an issue with the front wing, it still looks too tall. I still like the overall build though.
I prefer the small one much more!!! XD
Great review as always! But the red alfa at the right? Can we expect a review of Cada model?
A comparison will be in the next video
The chassis of the large Mercedes looks very similar to most Lego f1 cars. It would be cool to do a comparison with the 42000 f1 car to see the similarities.
CaDa Alfa coming up? Hope that doesn’t affect your access to early sets
A little off topic but on topic of race cars. We have the tires from the tumbler and they are based off a hossier dirt tire. Why cant we get a dirt car when we have the parts
Eh, I think I’d pick up the smaller one for the other 1:18 scale I have. I already have the Mclaren F1 car so I don’t think it’s a big enough change or improvement to make me want to have both. I do however like the removable engine cover. It’s like the 9X8. I’m not sure it’s better than the McLaren cut outs but they both work well. I am a Mercedes fan, we have a GLC300 and have had others over the last 15 years. Maybe in the future if I find it on sale I’ll get it
I know the Lego Technic Porsche 911 RSR set is 1 :10 scale and this Mercedes F1 car is 1: 8 scale. But are these new slick tires fit in 1:10 scale Technic cars?
I thought we’d have paper bags for the march 1st release, how come it’s taking so long?
Hello, I’ve done some research on than version and found that the wheels are NOT PRINTED on the real life version only the official one
that raced has the print on the tires.
Can we see the mclaren with the new slick tyres?
Did you compare with the set 42000?
5:10 just put this part in but the gear on the top is stiff instead of turning the wheels and I have no clue what I did wrong
I assume it will still have the sagging suspension issue that the McLaren had? Mine is sitting on the shelf literally now lol
Tak!
if you take off the gear behind the steering wheel you can rotate the shaft atleast thats how i did the mclaren
Hello! I would like to ask if you have any difficulties/problems with Lego. For example, there isn't assembly guide for an old set, there isn't a Lego store near you, or you can't get a specific Lego part. I am working on a mobile application that is meant to solva the problems of the Lego community. Any little thing could help a lot, thanks for you answers in advance!
Do you think Lego will release 1:8 F1 for all the racing teams over time?
The first time I saw the techinic I got excited. Now... 220€ for 1600 pieces with small variety of pieces and a lot of stickers. I think will save to buy other sets
The Mercedes is a real step up from the McLaren 1.5 from two years ago.
i'm part upset, and part ok.
it's another F1, it looks like the Orange Mc Laren already, same engine, suspension but, this W14 looks so good, very beautiful, i will probably get it.
Btw, are you from Germany ?
Amazing job with creating those difficult shapes Lego…. But for the love of god mold different size tires!
I was waiting for the McLaren to go under 100 before I got it and now this is out lol but I've got the Peugeot now because it actually went under 100 and it's lovely with the glow in the dark lights but I love F1 so I want a big one
when will you be allowed to build the VTOL Heavy Cargo Spaceship LT81 set? thank you
Balázs, can you show us, how the new slick tyres look on the 2022 McLaren set?Thank you and keep it up!
I do prefer the smaller mercedes and will be buying it 1st but I still get the larger model. I feel like the smaller one has more LEGO charm
If we go with a tread tire instead of slicks, is there a possible alternative part number already available? I built a 1/8 scale using a super car tire for the rear
I remember, that some of the old f1's used very wide rear tires with wide rims from power puller wheels.
Compare it with the 1:8 supercar lineup
Hi there I really like you reviews I am looking to get a wall mount made but need a picture of the 1:8 scale model underside if your able to help that would be great many thanks
theres one on amazon for the smaller car
I think you should pull the steering wheel back so the axle doesn't protrude front the front. Makes for a more realistic look.
I could, but according to the manual it should look like this
@@RacingBrick me, you , we all, known these manuals aren’t always error free.
And besides, it just looks weird anyway. No steering axle protrudes a steering wheel.
But hey, it’s your car.
@@idonjohnson6999 if I change the setup compared to the manual, I'm sure some people will pop up and say that I'm trying to hide TLG's mistakes. That's the world we live in.
But the question is, is this F1 Lego car faster than the other premium technic sets :)...Good video as always.
I would want to have a big comparison with the CaDa formula 1 car
They should bring back the old Technic Racers theme, because I feel these sets just don’t fully fit into the Technic. Yes they’re made of Technic parts, but what else is there?
2025 with sf25? Who knows but i hope they will make realistic tyre size and a decente steering (like using two pulleys and a Rubber band and with the new gearbox parts adding a trasmission too!
That introduction bit is pretty hilarious when considering the downright disastrous 2022 season, even when they did manage to get a win. At least 2023 was a bit of a step up, despite no wins. Though it seems like Lego went for the early zeropod version, the one everyone (including Lewis and George) desperately wants to forget?
First they messed up with the McLaren, with a sort of 2023 design in a 2022 livery, and now they do this.....Lego doesn't really seem to have a lucky hand picking F1 cars.....
If they can make the smaller one's tyres smaller, like the Mack LR's one
Could you please share a ohoto of technic f1 cars side to side
Is it possible to put the tyres from 42165 to the rear of the Senna set?
No, they are smaller
