    A Tahoe owner's manual's page 5-60 shows Daylight Running Lamps use bulb number 4114K. Overheating socket problems are caused by using 3157 bulbs instead of the specified, lower wattage, cooler, 4114 bulbs. It's the same socket with smaller wires, for the lower wattage Daylight Running Lamps, leading to 3157 drawing too much power. Bulb number 3157 is used elsewhere as the Rear Marker Lamp / Taillamp and Stop Lamp, Rear Turn Lamp, and Back-up Lamp.
    Thanks DIY Auto Homeschool for the excellent video.

      You sir, are absolutely correct. I made a big misstep in this video that I hadn't known about until you pointed it out. I trusted that the correct bulb was in there, and that using the same was appropriate. I was wrong.
      Shortly, you'll be seeing a video on soldering new sockets in and using the correct bulb. Thanks again for the correction.

    The other way of checking to see if the lights are working is to pull up to a window big enough to be able to see your reflection in it...

      Daytime running light assembly pulls forward easily after pushing the tab towards the outside off the assembly. Really simple to remove the whole assembly assembly.

    Very good video. Covered the replacement procedure in detail, without a lot of grandstanding talk. It is refreshing to see a video that gives clear and exacting steps in whatever is being showcased without the technician trying out for actor of the year! I have saved the video, subscribed to your channel, and will be returning. Again, THANKS.

  • @petercook3143
    @petercook3143 Před 10 měsíci

    Um, I have a very simple way to check lights front or rear. Just find a store with shiny windows on the front and view your vehicle front or rear in the reflection. They might be getting fewer and far between now, with the advent of the big box stores, etc. but you should be able to find one in your community. Frequently an Autozone has shiny windows on front of building that will do.
