  • Matt Fradd sits down with Dr. Paul Thigpen to discuss a whole host of interesting things: how he became an atheist at the age of 12; why he gave his life to Christ; his encounters with the Devil, and the current crisis in the Catholic Church.

Loved the stories about dropping out of Yale and finding his girlfriend in Rome. Both convicted me in a major way of my own lack of faith in the real power of prayer and just how not tuned in I am to God's desire to direct my life. Beautiful man. Thanks to both of you for doing the interview.

Hi Matt, another great show! Thanks so much!
You mentioned in the interview that you are interested in fiction and was wondering if you are familiar with the work of Michael O'Brien? He is such a brilliant Catholic writer and his books "Sophia House" and "Strangers and Sojournes" went straight to my heart. I would be so happy if you will have him on your show sometime :)
Anyways, hello from Transylvania (Romania)! You inspire me to be a better person and a better catholic. Keep doing the amazing work! God bless!

Matt and Paul, great interview! Thank you! May I just say that the Church and the World is shrouded in darkness. However, I am grateful that we HAVE exorcists and that the bishops seem to allow them to do their work because there were several decades in the USA where that was NOT the case. I am grateful that we have a Paul Thigpen writing manuals for spiritual warfare and a Paul Fradd witnessing to the Faith on the internet!

Regarding the thought exercise of a Pope being part of a schism (you know... 100 years from now...): that seems like exactly the sort of scenario to which Jesus was referring in saying that the gates of hell shall not prevail. I have to believe that's the point where God would not permit something that could lead millions of souls astray. You are far more versed in Church history than I am, so maybe there are some comparable instances in the past that I'm not aware of?

The Civil War? Liberals vs Conservatives if you will. I feel the best way to sift through the confusion as a layman is hold fast to your basic run of the mill catechism to accentuate errors within the Church. The chief articles of our faith is contained in The Apostles Creed even a child could understand. Any change(s) in definition rather than what we have received (by tradition; Church Father's, etc), should raise alarm bells. But I do know, right throughout the Church's illustrious history, God always raises some obscure soul to restore order and steady the ship. Just my thoughts.

I read a book on the “Duquesne weekend”. David Mangan talked about the Charismatic Movement that started there and he said that he started laughing. He didn’t understand why he was laughing but that it felt purifying.

If you did not have a medal blessed but prayed to God for it to work. Or you just had faith in it. Then would it not be just as effective as a medal blessed by a priest. Not saying that the blessing of a medal is not effective, it makes it extra holy. Like the passage in the new testament that says what makes the people believe the altar is holy is that it's in a church. And the church is holy because it's under god. So if the altar was out in the open and not inside a church it would still be holy because it's under god. So a medal that is not blessed is as effective as a blessed one if you have it as a reminder of god.

I think we need to find new word for BAD stuff happening inside of GOD'S CHURCH because Church is not doing it but we do
If Church is BODY of CHRIST
If her teachings are sound doctrine
If she's lead by Holy Spirit
    And
If sin separates us from CHRIST that mean from Church too because she doesn't teach that so we need to find new word for that
Because people blame Church, people hate Church, people leave Church and go somewhere that is not Church and call that Church, because they want Church to be good and SHE ALREADY IS
Is this make sense to anyone

Great interview. But why blame Francis and not see that Paul VI, then JPII and BXVI caused/created the Francis papacy? Where did Francis come from? Surely Francis is the effect/fruit caused by his predecessors bad governance.
